Boy Scouts Will Likely Abandon Their Oath To God

The Mormons have now decided to sever their ties with the Boy Scouts---ending a relationship that goes back nearly a century.

The LDS church has long been the single biggest sponsor of Boy Scout troops---representing more than 400,000 boys.

It's likely they will now abandon their oath to God.

More on that, and some thoughts about Mother's Day.

Todd Starnes, with Fox News, is suggesting that abandoning their oath to God will be an easy step for the Boy Scouts to take given their recent history of decisions.

I agree.

This is some of what Starnes published yesterday:

A Bad Decision

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has long been the biggest sponsor of Boy Scout troops – representing more than 400 thousand boys.

The once-storied program decided to be "inclusive" – leading to a drop of more than 10 percent since 2013. That was the year the BSA decided to open its membership to gay scouts.

In the aftermath, Trail Life USA was birthed – a faith-based scouting organization that has a membership of more than 26,000 troops in 48 states.

The Boy Scouts did not have to capitulate to the social justice warriors. They had the Supreme Court on their side. They had the American people on their side. But instead of standing up to the bullies — they backed down.

One bad decision leads to more bad decisions.

Not too long after they changed their policies on sexual orientation, the Boy Scouts opened their ranks to gay leaders and then transgender scouts and then they decided that little girls could be Boy Scouts.

But even that was not inclusive enough for the radical revolutionaries — so for the sake of inclusion, they excluded the name “boy”.

The worst decision ultimately becomes the easiest decision.

Starnes says --"And soon – I predict this watered-down, culturally-compromised version of the Scouts will come full circle and lift its ban on atheists. Yes, I predict they will eliminate the name of God from their once sacred oath."

Because once turn your back on your values – it’s pretty easy to turn your back on the Almighty.

Sunday is Mother's Day

A mother's influence cannot be overstated.

Theodore Roosevelt said, "Praying mothers are America's greatest assets."

Abraham Lincoln said, "No one is poor who had a godly mother."

He also said, "For what I am or ever hope to be, I owe my angel mother."

Charles Wesley, who wrote about 6,000 hymns, said, "I learned more from my mother than from all the theologians in England."

Charles Spurgeon said, "I cannot tell how much I owe to the prayers of my good mother."

To Husbands: Make a list of 31 things your wife does for you and you family. Make a point of sharing one of those things and thanking her each day for a month. Then see what happens.

Happy Mother's Day to my wife, Marjorie---the mother of our children. You are terrific. The best.

And to all mothers everywhere, Happy Mother's Day. God bless you all.

Be Blessed.
