Biden's Catholicism Is Double-Minded

Joe Biden has been busy this past week trying to win back Catholics who voted for Trump--He needs their votes.

However, in his attempt to convince the Catholics he's one of them and standing strong in the faith, he's reminding us all that he is quietly clinging to his Democrat Party's increasingly radical pro-abortion agenda.

Joe wants it both ways.

Be informed.

Presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke to both Catholic colleges in Dubuque, Iowa last week. He spoke of his strong faith, his hopes and the battle for the "soul of America."

Dubuque, population 58,000, is a unique town---in fact, it's the smallest city in the country to house an archdiocese. It also has two Catholic colleges and is 53% Catholic.

It's been called "The Rome" of America.

Trump told Catholics in 2016, "I promise to appoint pro-life judges and pro-life justices to the Supreme Court.

His message to Catholics now---for the 2020 election is, "I've kept my promises." And he has.

Biden: "I'm for abortion and I'm against abortion."

Biden is taking a little different approach. He has to because he is both with his Church and against his church on abortion.

You've heard the phrase, "Some of my friends are for it, and some are against it: I'm with my friends'."

Biden is very calculated when it comes to matters of faith.

He says he doesn't seek to impose his religious beliefs on anyone or make them the basis of public policy, because he--professionally as a politician, believes in abortion, but personally agrees with his Church.

This prompted a priest in South Carolina last week to refuse him the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Joe's campaign manager, Greg Schultz, explained it all after the South Carolina episode.

He said Joe "practices his faith. He doesn't proselytize. People see that."

It appears he's more "for" abortion than "against" abortion.

Biden is more "for" than "against" abortion.

James chapter 2, verses 19 and 20 says,
"You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe---and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead."

Verse 26 says,
"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

In June, candidate Biden got forced into a corner with his double talk, as he faced intense criticism for his support of the Hyde Amendment that prohibits federal healthcare money to pay for abortions.

After several days of public criticism by the abortion industry and their minions, Biden announced he was reversing course.

He said,
"If I believe health care is a right, as I do, I can no longer support an amendment that makes it harder for some women to access care."

Abortion isn't "women's care" and Biden knows it. It's murder.

Biden said, "I've been struggling with the problems that Hyde now presents."

Of course he's been struggling, this is the 3rd or 4th time he's run for president, and he really, really wants to win this time.

His personal goals are fixed---his spiritual beliefs are fluid. All progressives--secular and "Christian"--believe the end justifies the means.

Biden told a small crowd in Atlanta, "I want to be clear: I make no apologies for my last position. I make no apologies for what I'm about to say," as he told the audience of his moral transition on the Hyde Amendment and the sanctity of life.

He claims he's a Roman Catholic who has wrestled publicly with abortion policy for decades.

Planned Parenthood released a statement saying,
"Happy to see Joe Biden embrace what we have long known to be true: Hyde blocks people---particularly women of color and women with low incomes---from accessing safe, legal abortion care."

NARAL said, "We're pleased that Joe Biden has joined the rest of the 2020 Democrat field in coalescing around our party's core values---support for abortion rights..."

Associated Press later confirmed that Biden is now supporting the call for a federal statute codifying the Roe v Wade abortion decision into law.

The double-minded man.

James 1: 5-8:

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

The takeaway.

  • God promises us wisdom only if we do not wavier or be "double-minded." Double-minded indecisiveness is not a sometimes wandering or questioning mind.
  • Mark 9:24 introduces an anguished father who says, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief." This is not a double-minded man. He desperately wants to believe and is asking God to help him believe. He is not of two opinions.
  • In James 1:8 the word translated "double-minded" literally means "double-souled." Like having two independent wills.
  • Paul was not double-minded when he wrote in Romans 7:19: "For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice." All of us struggle with this, even Paul. However, the true Christian is focused in one direction, but there are weaknesses inherent in the flesh. We all fail to keep God's law perfectly.
  • James 4:8 explains double-mindedness: "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts you doubled-minded." Anything one willingly does or does not do that is contrary to God's law (v 17) makes one guilty of double-mindedness.
  • Psychologists call this emotional/ psychological turmoil: "cognitive dissonance" or literally "inharmonious thought."
  • Joe Biden is suffering from "cognitive dissonance."
  • Psalm 119:113 says, "I hate the double-minded, but I love your law." Being synchronized with God's laws is equated with singleness of mind. Joe needs to get synchronized with the God he claims to serve.
