Impeachment: The Reluctant and the Haters

As Speaker Nancy Pelosi skates forward on impeachment, some in her party believe she is putting their political careers on thin ice.

Others think she is putting the entire Democrat Party on thin ice---while still other radical Democrats are adding to the list of reasons to impeach---including "treason" and Trump's responsibility for slavery because he's "a racist."

That's a quote.

Be informed.

Where the impeachment effort stands today.

The Left seems to fall into two categories. Those who are reluctant. And those who hate the President.

Truth does not appear to be a focus.

Moderate Democrats are feeling anxious and frustrated over the possible consequences of the "impeachment movement against President Trump."

The fact is, it will have consequences and the impeachers in more moderate districts will likely pay a price because the facts and the citizens do not favor impeaching Trump.

It's so troublesome that some Democrat public servants are talking to the press about their fears.

One moderate Democrat lamented to CNN this weekend---on condition of anonymity---that all the information his party is getting is "second-hand"---repeatedly expressing, "I'm concerned," "I'm concerned," "I'm concerned."

They are very concerned about not knowing what's in the articles of impeachment, despite the several hearings, with one tentatively scheduled for today with Rep. Jerry Nadler's committee.

Democrats in leadership are not sharing what exactly they are including in the "Articles of Impeachment" they are creating---not even their own members.

Rep. Max Rose (D-NY) told CNN yesterday,
"I can't comment on any articles until I've seen them, but that being said, you know that I came out against impeachment previous to this Ukraine matter, and I do remain very cognizant of that. You can take that as you like."

Others are remaining silent until the conclusion of their party's impeachment inquiry process.

Rep. Ben McAdams (D-UT) is one of 31 vulnerable Democrats. He is advocating his Party to conclude the impeachment matter and move on to more relevant issues.

Recent polling by McLaughlin & Associates, shared Friday, show Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D-NY) is 13 points below the Republican candidate---already.

Democrat Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) said last week that he expects to lose some Democrats on impeachment. He's right, but no one knows for sure how many of the 41 vulnerable Democrats will split with their party.

Last night Committee Chair Jerry Nadler told the press if the case they are making against President Trump went to a real court, he would be convicted "in about 3 minutes."

What if Trump is acquitted?

Trump will not be removed from office unless something completely unknown is presented today, and it's not likely. To remove the president---any president, the Senate must convict him on the evidence presented by the House. The evidence of wrongdoing isn't there.

Yesterday on NBC's "Meet The Press," House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler (D-NY), NBC's Chuck Todd asked Nadler, "If President Donald Trump was acquitted, do you think we'll have a fair election in 2020?"

Nadler replied, "I do not know if we will have a fair election."

Translated: "If we cannot destroy this President through the impeachment process, he will probably beat us in an election by the people, and we are telling you now---if he wins, it won't be fair."

What are the actual accusations against the President?

As I write this late last night, the public does not know for sure what the actual accusations will be. We should find out today. Or tomorrow. Or the next day.

I'm hearing that the Democrats now plan to add "Treason"---the highest presidential crime under the Constitution.

The Constitution specifically defines treason in Article III, Section 3:
"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

The House Judiciary Committee has apparently expanded that definition---the Constitution is a "living" document we must remember---to include what it calls "betrayal" and declares,
"Although the Framers did not intend impeachment for good faith disagreement on matters of diplomacy, they were explicit that betrayal of the nation through schemes with foreign powers justified that remedy."

The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives have consistently implied that the President's dealings with Ukraine reflect, at core, an effort to help Russia---even though he has given Ukraine lethal defensive weapons to fight Russia.

Mueller investigated Trump for two years and found nothing he could charge him with---even though Mueller and his staff of Democrat lawyers desperately wanted to come up with something.

How far off the rails will the Democrats go to destroy this President?

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) told MSNBC Saturday that we must include the issues of slavery in this impeachment.

He said,
"I think we're moving forward in a very cautious and prudent way, which is expected. But I think that if we don't include some of the things that are important to people of color, then I think that our business won't be finished."

He continued,
"I do believe ma'am, that we have to deal with the original sin. We have to deal with slavery. Slavery was the thing that put all of what President Trump has done."

Slavery was not the "original sin." Disobedience and rebellion toward God is the original sin. We broke our relationship with God, and through one man sin entered the human race.

Green seemed to suggest that we should also throw the issue of the LGBTQ activists on this impeachment deal as well.

Prepare to meet your Founders?

Bizarre doesn't rightly define the convulsions of the Left.

Harvard law professor Noah Feldman, during his testimony last week, reflected this same kind of delusional thinking.

He justified his advocacy for impeaching Trump by urging all present "to think about meeting Madison and Hamilton in the afterlife"..." where ever it is that we go, the good place or the other place."

Alex McFarland says,
"Neither constitutional clarity, present facts, nor past precedent are on the side of impeachment/removal. Therefore, Feldman and others who wish to overthrow the 2016 election results are groping for any line of reasoning that might clinch this and give them their desired result."

Frankly, this sounds more like a huckster selling Kool-aid, or a cult leader---I've dealt with many during my years as a youth pastor--then a tenured professor and constitutional scholar from an elite university.

The mindset of a cult is driving this impeachment inquiry. It's irrational delusional, wide-eyed, and bent on a cause, however toxic and terminal the cause may be.

The takeaway.

McFarland says:

First, it is strange indeed that the afterlife and one’s moral accountability would be invoked by a spokesperson for the party whose ideology has so firmly been rooted in secularism for several decades. Every plank of the Democratic platform has— for years— been solidly nailed to a view of reality that does not acknowledge God or absolute morality. Interesting, isn’t it, that eternity and one’s moral accountability be invoked by those whose political convictions have long attached value only to things “here” and “now.”
Secondly, This pastor and patriot has a word for the for the party that has spent decades fighting for the right to abort children, and has been unrelenting in their fight against perpetuation of America’s Judeo-Christian heritage; As sincerely as can be offered, may I lay out a heartfelt admonition to the party that booed God at its 2016 convention, is promoting transgenderism and homosexuality to our children, fights against what our Founders saw as God-given “unalienable rights,” and has resorted to endless acts of political treachery in their quest to recast America into a secular utopia:
In the afterlife, meeting Alexander Hamilton would be the least of anyone’s concern. Ponder less about meeting James Madison and more about facing Jesus Christ! History will, no doubt, evaluate the rightness of impeachment proceedings; eternity hangs on the state of our souls. All persons (Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between) will be judged by God. Christmas, the season we’re now celebrating, is a reminder not only of this, but also a reminder that God loved the world enough to send us Jesus.
The lights came on in Bethlehem last weekend to begin that sacred land’s observance of Christ’s birth, commemorating the light Who came into history via a manger so long ago. But in this frenetic time of political clamor and cultural darkness, let’s pray that the light of truth will shine unobstructed throughout our world. Beginning, let’s hope . . . in Washington.
