Pelosi Introduces "War Powers Resolution" To Stop Trump

In a letter to her "Democratic Colleagues" in Congress---and to the press, of course, Speaker Pelosi says she is introducing a new "War Powers Resolution" intended to stop President Trump from taking any more action against Iran.

This would, in fact, amount to a preemptive surrender to Iran, neutralizing the power of the President of the United States.

Does she actually have the power to do this?

Be informed.

Sunday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wrote a letter to her Democrat colleagues revealing that she will be introducing a new "War Powers Act" this week intended to "limit the president's actions against Iran."

This is Pelosi's letter:

JANUARY 5, 2020 PRESS RELEASE
Dear Democratic Colleague,
Last week, the Trump Administration conducted a provocative and disproportionate military airstrike targeting high-level Iranian military officials. This action endangered our servicemembers, diplomats and others by risking a serious escalation of tensions with Iran.
As Members of Congress, our first responsibility is to keep the American people safe. For this reason, we are concerned that the Administration took this action without the consultation of Congress and without respect for Congress’s war powers granted to it by the Constitution.
This week, the House will introduce and vote on a War Powers Resolution to limit the President’s military actions regarding Iran. This resolution is similar to the resolution introduced by Senator Tim Kaine in the Senate. It reasserts Congress’s long-established oversight responsibilities by mandating that if no further Congressional action is taken, the Administration’s military hostilities with regard to Iran cease within 30 days.
The House Resolution will be led by Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin. Congresswoman Slotkin is a former CIA and Department of Defense analyst specializing in Shia militias. She served multiple tours in the region under both Democratic and Republican Administrations.
I greatly appreciate the solemnity with which all of our Members are working to honor our responsibility to protect American lives and values.
Thank you for your patriotic leadership during this difficult time.

You will note that Pelosi is suggesting that the attack on terrorist Soleimani was illegal under international law and could constitute a "war crime."

Was the President's action a war crime?

Harvard Law School professor emeritus (and Democrat who voted for Hillary) Alan Dershowitz argued yesterday in the Wall Street Journal that Trump's strike on the terrorist was not only lawful but an "easy call":
"The president has the constitutional authority to take military actions, short of declaring war, that he and his advisers deem necessary to protect American citizens. This authority is extremely broad, especially when the actions must, by their nature, be kept secret from the intended target."

Pelosi and her far-Left so-called progressives are so fixated on destroying this presidency that they seem unconcerned about any constitutionality for her own actions. Yet these actions are being taken under the guise of "protecting our Constitution and American lives."

By declaring Trump's action "provocative and disproportionate," her resolution also invites international prosecution of the President, as well as members of his administration and the military itself, who carried out the orders.

Traditionally, the United States has not recognized the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute Americans for war crimes, but the ICC takes a different view, and a future Democrat administration could side with the ICC instead.

Pelosi's action is, in effect, a surrender to Iran and Congressional approval for them to "'stay calm and carry on" with their terrorism.

Comedian George Lopez has a different plan. He's suggesting President Trump be "decapitated"---literally.

Iran has put out the word that they will pay an $80 million bounty for the head of Donald Trump. The $80 million would probably be from the $1 billion cash Barack Obama delivered to them in the middle of the night during his administration.

Chicanoworld tweeted
"#Iranian authorities have put a bounty on American President Donald Trump's head during the televised funeral of General #QasemSoleimani after he was assassinated last week. What are your thoughts?"

Not funny at all funny comedian George Lopez tweeted: "We'll do it for half."

I'm wondering if the authorities are looking into this physical threat against the President of the United States?

I mentioned yesterday on the radio that filmmaker Michael Moore, on Sunday, offered Ayatollah Khamenei his special assistance. Moore tweeted this:
"I have just sent the Ayatollah of Iran a personal appeal asking him not to respond to our assassination... but rather let me & millions of Americans fix this peacefully."

I presume Moore is talking about the 2020 elections.

Most of the conservatives in our country see the value of what Trump did, and the value of supporting him regardless of political persuasion. Even Joe Lieberman supports the President on this issue.

Does Nancy Pelosi bear any legal liability in her ongoing actions against the President and the 63 million citizens who voted for him?

In December, the New York Post published an in-depth article about Nancy Pelosi's political liability resulting from the way she railroaded the so-called impeachment against a President she hates.

The Post says "she hurt herself and her Party with the 'charade' of impeachment. They described her impeachment show with this: "Only the damage to America is real."

The Wall Street Journal said yesterday that the impeachment articles that Pelosi is refusing to forward to the Senate "will fall on legal grounds alone, because there are no charges against the President" other than expressions of dislike from his adversaries.

Charlie Kirk, a conservative journalist tweeted this yesterday summing up the differences between the Left and the right:

America is in deep waters. No question about it. This is a time for biblical Christians and conservatives to stand strong.

Pray for the President.

The ancient prophet Isaiah put it this way: "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee" (Is. 43:2).

Be Informed. Be Steadfast. Be Faithful. Be Not Afraid. Be Prayerful.
