Sacrificing Tara Reade

Well-known author, speaker and women's rights activist Linda Hirshman wrote in the New York Times, "Let's be clear: I believe Tara Reade. I believed Anita Hill, too...What's the constant here? Joe Biden, the bumbling head of the Senate Judiciary Committee during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings, now the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee."

But, "I'm voting for Joe Biden anyway."

It's a stunning revelation of how unstable and dishonest the Left really is.

Be informed.

Writing in The New York Times Hirshman, whose latest book is titled, "Reckoning: The Epic Battle Against Sex Abuse and Harassment", is advocating that Tara Reade, the most recent woman accuser of Joe Biden's inappropriate conduct, be sacrificed for the greater good.

She says, "I believe Tara Reade."

But, "I'm voting for Joe Biden anyway."

Well, a lot of people are believing Tara Reade, because she, unlike those seeking to ruin Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, is a Democrat---not from the opposing political party, still loyal to the Democrat Party, worked for Biden and has told people about what happened when she was told to take Senator Biden's gym bag to him in the basement of the Capitol Building and the people whom she told, remember the conversation very vividly.

Her mother even called the Larry King show at the time wondering what a mother should do in the circumstances---without mentioning names.

Hirshman writes,:

Discounting Ms. Reade's accusation and, one after another, denigrading her corroborating witnesses, calling for endless new evidence, avowing that you 'hear' her, is nonsense. We are now up to four corroborating witnesses---including one contemporary corroborating witness unearthed by Rich McHugh, who was Ronan Farrow's producer at NBC News during the Harvey Weinstein # MeToo reporting---and one 'Larry King Live' tape.
So stop playing gotcha with the female supporters of Mr. Biden or the #MeToo movement , making them l;ie to the camera---or perhaps to themselves---about doubting her to justify their votes.
I'll take one for the team. I believe Ms. Reade and I'll vote for Mr. Biden this fall.

Hirshman proceeds to give a resume of her integrity and moral superiority noting that feminist lawyer Gloria Steinem threw Monica Lewinsky under the bus to justify her (and others) voting for Bill Clinton. But. Ms. Hirshman supported Lewinsky and supported Clinton, which is the moral high ground.

This, apparently, is the "new, evolved virtue."

But it isn't new, it's an old belief system.

Humanist philosophers, for at least three centuries, have pushed the belief that there can be no call to justice in a situation of extreme scarcity.

David Humes taught that in fact he developed that notion and it was taught in the classroom. He taught that no one can be expected to behave justly if trying to survive a shipwreck.

In more recent times John Rawls developed the idea that he called "moderate scarcity, or absence of "extreme scarcity", one of the "circumstances of justice."

Hirshman believes this. She makes the case that Trump and Pence are so corrupt, they represent Hume's shipwreck---the wreckage of the ship of state.

Therefore, due to these circumstances, the end---which is taking down Trump and Pence---is so noble that it justices any means to do so.

The end justifies the means.

A group of activist leaders, politicians, and educators in America use these so-called principles to advance a destructive agenda. You know the banners they carry. Abortion, same-sex "marriage" ...etc.

Hirshman is not an isolated voice in the wilderness. Millions of Americans, including some who claim to be Christians, buy into this notion that the end justifies the means and Trump is so bad that any and everything is okay if it removes him from office.

Lie, cheat, steal, mislead, whatever it takes.

Plato's "ship of fools."

Speaking of shipwrecks, Book VI of Plato's Republic is about a ship with a dysfunctional crew who all want to be the captain because they believe the captain is incapable. While they fight for the captain's chair, it becomes apparent that they are the fools---the cave dwellers who cannot see the light.

The allegory is intended to represent the problems of governance in a political system not based on expert knowledge, but on circumstances---feelings; And the value of the end game.

Far-Left activists have through the years used the "ends justifies the means" to advance their agenda. From Niccolo Machiavelli to Marx and Engles to Saul Alinsky to Pelosi and Schumer.

They are a ship of fools, because they believe there will be no destructive or negative consequences.

These people believe they, rather than God, can captain the ship of life---their own and the ship of state.

And there are consequences.

James 1:8 says, "He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways."

Progressives are double-minded.

I believe this year will be the most consequential in our lifetime.
