Pro BLM Olympia, WA Mayor Gets a visit--Now Calling it "Domestic Terrorism"

Believing the Black Lives Matters movement is what it appears to be, Olympia (WA) Mayor Cheryl Selby has been an unbending supporter.

However, after a visit to her home last week, she is now calling their acts of violence "Domestic Terrorism."

There is a significant difference between those who are protesting for racial equality and those who are using "Black Lives Matters" as a vehicle for a very different agenda.

Be informed, not misled.

"Black Lives Matter": A deeply held value, or a hi-jacked vehicle for a different cause?

The Olympian is reporting that "two groups converged in downtown Olympia"---Washington State's capitol -- "and some became destructive, burning flags, smashing windows and spray painting businesses"---then "proceeded to Mayor Cheryl Selby's home."

One group was made up of about 50 black-clad protesters, the other group wore neon yellow t-shirts with the word "peacekeeper" across the front and back---some were holding paintball guns.

The black-clad group marched to City Hall, then through downtown Olympia. The protesters took trashcans and "ROAD WORK AHEAD" signs from parking lots and sidewalks, dragging them into the streets and flipping them on their sides.

The Olympian says the "peacekeepers" then "put them back while the other group heckled them."

Eventually, the black-clad group made its way down Capitol Way and into the South Capitol neighborhood to the house of Olympia Mayor Cheryl Selby, where they chanted "abolish the police" and one participant sprayed her front porch and door with "BLM."

A man, apparently, threatened to use a blunt object if they didn't stop vandalizing the Selby home to no avail. The mayor and her family were not home. Neighbors were texting her as the rioters sprayed her home.

After leaving the mayor's neighborhood, the BLM mob headed back into downtown where they vandalized businesses, burned United States flags, smashed store windows and spray painted businesses. In fact, an Olympia police lieutenant said there was so much vandalism and destruction that the police wouldn't have all the reports filed for days.

The mayor's first response was to, in part, to blame the city of Olympia and the people who live there, saying the city "is not without sin," pointing out the well off condition of neighborhoods like her own as a sign that Olympia needs to be more "welcoming."

After affirming her personal virtue, she said: "People have so little grace for each other right now. We need more grace."

We also need a little more understanding.

Mayor Selby said: "I'm really trying to process this. It's like domestic terrorism. It's unfair."

She said, "It hurts when you're giving so much to your community."

The "movement" known as "Black Lives Matter" is something different than Mayor Selby apparently thought it was.

After supporting it, they turned on her and her family.

I noticed that the mayor was proudly flying a homosexual rights rainbow flag on her porch.

Let me be crystal clear, I do not condone any kind of racism toward any person of any color for any reason. The Bible clearly teaches against it.

I have spent several years of my life working with groups and tribes across Africa and every other continent on earth except Australia, preaching the gospel, planting churches, building several Christian schools and even a couple of Christian medical centers while sometimes living with the local people, often with the pastor and his wife in their dirt floor hut.

As a pastor, we always welcomed people of all colors and races.

However, Olympia's mayor had the same experience others are having regarding the movement "Black Lives Matter."

Let's take a quick look at the organization's beliefs and goals.

When you go to the "Black Lives Matter" web site, the first thing you see is an appeal to sign a petition to abolish the police. Under the page, "What We Believe," things get real clear, real fast.

It would be helpful if Olympia's mayor and other far-Left mayors and governors would take a moment and actually look at what they are supporting, and what is destroying their cities and states---and ultimately will destroy this country.

This is from the "What We Believe" page:

We are guided by the fact that all Black lives matter, regardless of actual or perceived sexual identity, gender identity, gender expression, economic status, ability, disability, religious beliefs or disbeliefs, immigration status, or location.
We make space for transgender brothers and sisters to participate and lead.
We are self-reflexive and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege and uplift Black trans folk, especially Black trans women who continue to be disproportionately impacted by trans-antagonistic violence.
We build a space that affirms Black women and is free from sexism, misogyny, and environments in which men are centered.
We practice empathy. We engage comrades with the intent to learn about and connect with their contexts.
We make our spaces family-friendly and enable parents to fully participate with their children. We dismantle the patriarchal practice that requires mothers to work “double shifts” so that they can mother in private even as they participate in public justice work.
We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.
We foster a queer‐affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise).
We cultivate an intergenerational and communal network free from ageism. We believe that all people, regardless of age, show up with the capacity to lead and learn.
We embody and practice justice, liberation, and peace in our engagements with one another.

Considering these statements of belief, the goals of those who control BLM--- the "global organization "-- are;

  • A call for lawlessness. An attempt to remake America. "Abolish the police" and replace them with authorities that will enforce the "new truth" of their worldview.
  • A call for globalism.
  • A call for total sexual liberation from God's natural order of male and female--rebellion against nature and Nature's God.
  • An attack on biblical Truth.
  • An attack on the nuclear family where mom is a woman, dad is a man, they marry, have children and are a foundational entity in the culture. You will note that when the family is defined, the "father" isn't even mentioned.
  • There is only one real solution to the chaos in our culture. We can only truly become one when we are "in Christ."
