Pro-Life Bill--'Evil,' 'Abominable,' 'Bad For Business'-- says Christian Politician

Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate, Christian, and probable presidential candidate Stacy Abrams weighs in on how she really feels about the pro-life "heartbeat bill" in her state---"It's evil, it's abominable" and "it's bad for business," she claims.

Spoken from the heart of a true Christian and preacher's child? I don't think so.

Be informed.

Sunday, Stacy Abrams, failed gubernatorial candidate, Christian, and probable presidential candidate actually said those words to NBC's news channel MSNBC.

The Heartbeat Bill, as it is called, will become law when Governor Brian Kemp (R), who beat her in the election last November, signs it. He has promised to do so and has until May 10 to sign it.

How can a bill that protects the lives of unborn babies after a heartbeat is detected in the womb be "evil," "abominable," and even "bad for business" in the mind of a Christian?

Yes, Hollywood is threatening to pull their film production business out of the state. And it will cost something.

A closer look.

Who is Stacy Abrams?

The Christian Post reported last May that gubernatorial candidate, Stacy Abrams, is a Yale Law School graduate, daughter of United Methodist ministers, and could become the first black female governor in the United States.

CP checked in on a prayer meeting at her United Methodist church in Atlanta back in May during the state primaries where the pastor was leading a prayer meeting on her behalf.

The pastor said, "We want to pray for Stacy Abrams. We want to pray with her the season may change---that with her being elected governor of the great state of Georgia, that all those ideas from the current administration be answered to the way of righteousness."

The way of righteousness?

The "current administration" was, of course, a conservative one. She did indeed win the primary and faced now Governor Brian Kemp, who beat her by 50,000 votes in the general election. Stacy has said as late as last week that she won the election but it was taken away from her by conservatives.

During the prayer meeting, Stacy noted that she was thinking of biblical Esther chapter 4, verse 14 that says, "If you remain silent at this time, there will be salvation that comes for others, but you and your family may not see it."

During her campaign, she spoke passionately about her Christian faith. She often does.

Why saving baby's lives is "bad for business."

Hollywood has threatened to boycott Georgia.

When the "Heartbeat Bill" began to get attention, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that more than 40 prominent actors "have already signed onto the letter as of Thursday"---"the letter" was one threatening a boycott of the state should the bill become law.

The actor's letter begins with complimenting Georgia as a "friendly and caring" state which has hotels and restaurants that are "comfortable and high quality."

The letter then takes a deep dive---
"This dangerous and deeply flawed bill mimics others which have already been deemed unconstitutional---As men who identify as small government conservatives, we remind you that government is never bigger than when it is inside a woman's body or in her doctor's office."

The letter concludes that if the state moves forward with this "Heartbeat Bill" these actors will do everything in their power to get the film industry, which is said to be a multi-billion dollar industry in the state, to pull out.

During her campaign Abrams said,
"We have to be a state that is not only friendly to business, we've got to be friendly to the women who work in these businesses. You should not have to worry about your ability to control your bodily autonomy because the governor has pushed such an abominable and evil bill that is so restrictive. It's not only bad for morality and our humanity, it's bad for business."

Bad for business? Maybe.

Evil and abominable?

A law that protects unborn children with a detectable heartbeat is neither evil nor abominable, except to the heart that is hardened and the conscience that is seared.

Only to the hardened heart and seared conscience is honoring the sanctity of life evil and abominable.

This is not "the way of righteous," nor is it likely that she embraced this worldview from her daddy's preaching in the Methodist Church of that time.

This is secular progressivism, with a touch of religion to fool the confused and salve the conscience of the wayward.

According to the Augusta Chronicle, during her campaign, Stacy Abrams told a group of rural voters how she lived out her faith.

She said:
"I know this is a community that stands for the values we were raised with. I had three jobs when I was growing up; go to church, go to school and take care of each other. They told us to go to church because they wanted us to be grounded in a moral framework that is more than ourselves and understand that poverty of economy does not mean poverty of spirit. They wanted us to know who we are and whose we are, but also to know that my faith did not justify me in discriminating against anyone else and that I should never use my faith to harm communities or to dismiss other people's faiths."

She said, "There was no reason to use what was in my heart to hurt others."

Why then do Ms. Abrams and her cohorts on the religious Left purpose in their hearts to kill unwanted babies? That is hurtful. And it's sin.

That is the epitome of not having a moral framework that is bigger than ourselves. Because it is inconvenient or ill-timed a young unborn, unwanted child is killed in the name of morality---and worse, in the name of the Lord?

Abortion is the height of being self-centered, and "unrighteous," and "evil." Abortion is abominable.

And it violates God's most fundamental law---the sanctity of life. And it claims evil is good.

This issue in Georgia is an illustration of how the religious Left believes---not only on the sanctity of life but on a number of moral issues.

It may well be exactly what Jesus had in mind when he said,
"Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord', shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness" (Matthew 7:21-23).
