We live in a world of blurred lines.
A pastor of a mainline denomination is now blessing abortion and passing out gift cards to women who need assistance in getting an abortion.
The co-founder of the Satanic Temple says more than half their membership is LGBTQ. And he says his "church" is deeply committed to working with Planned Parenthood and abortion activists.
What is the common ground of these diverse organizations?
Be informed.
The "Christian" blessing of abortion.
Episcopal priest and pastor Katherine Ragsdale will hand out pre-paid gas cards for women seeking abortions.
In fact, the pastor is so committed to abortion, she founded the nonprofit organization, "National Abortion Federation".
She says:
"Since there are a limited number of providers and states continue to impose additional restrictions, many women have to travel long distances to reach the closest provider who can help them. And this situation will only worsen as the political environment continues to become more hostile toward abortion rights."
Translated: America is waking up to the fact that killing millions of unwanted unborn children is wrong, and we must fight to keep the killing alive.
We just want to provide more support for women, "so they can make, and act on, the best decisions for themselves and their families," she says.
At an abortion rally, she said: "Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done." She told the audience, "Let me hear you say it, 'Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done'."
She continued, "The ability to enjoy God's good gift of sexuality without compromising one's education, life's work, or ability to put to use God's gifts and call is simply a blessing."
Ragsdale is the first lesbian to become a leader of an Episcopal seminary.
Satanic Temple is also "blessing" abortion.
Lucien Greaves, the co-founder of the Satanic Temple in the United States, says "more than 50% of the Temple's membership is LGBTQ---and that's a conservative estimate."
He says the reason is that "they feel disowned and disenfranchised from the traditional religious institutions."
Translated: Biblical Christian Churches have told them God loves them and will deliver them from their destructive lifestyle. While they want to be told God loves them, they do not want to be "delivered"---they seek "affirmation" of their behavior, not deliverance and restoration. And they, not God, define what is right and what is wrong.
Greaves says, "So you have a population willing to embrace a religious identification that is boldly willing to speak out to the contrary."
He says the commonality within the Satanic church is that we "don't care"--"It's like we're all Satanists and it's not like we have 'tolerance', for trans people or gay people or sex workers---we just don't give a ****."
And he said, "The Satanic Temple supports abortion, and we will fight attempts to roll back Roe v Wade or laws that affect homosexuals."
Rebellion: The common ground.
Often people find common ground by defining a common enemy.
Rebellion is a spirit, and a destructive one at that. Rebellion is what unites the Satanic Temple, the abortion industry and the gay rights movement.
All are in rebellion against God and His Truth.
I Samuel 15:23 says:
"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft..." The word translated "witchcraft" in this verse relates back to the Greek word "qesem" which not only includes literal witchcraft, but also divination. Both demonic.
This spirit is identified in Acts 16:16: "And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying."
Isaiah chapter 30 addresses rebellion. It begins with this: "Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a cover but not of my Spirit, that they might add sin to sin."
Rebellion is the personification of Satan (Genesis 3:1-13), is comparable to witchcraft (1 Sam. 15: 16-23), it angers God (Is. 65: 1-7; 1 Peter 2:4-8) and results in death (Romans 5: 12-19; 1 Peter 2:4-8).
The confusion and chaos in our culture are primarily spiritual, not political. It must first be addressed spiritually, then politically.
We must not become weary in well-doing.
We must render to Caesar what is Caesar's. Work to change laws, elect the best politicians, become personally involved, etc.
We must never render to Caesar what is God's. We must stand firm in the faith, speak the Truth boldly into the culture and always remember:
Ephesians 6:12
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Faithful. Be Prayerful.
