House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment yesterday over his contacts with Ukraine.
They are charging him with "Abuse of power" and "obstruction of Congress."
They are moving faster than the speed of their normal public service---with eyes wide shut.
Why so fast?
What's the real motive?

The charges.
Yesterday, standing before the cameras, the nation, and the world---soberly, seriously, even prayerfully (Nancy Pelosi) and patriots Jerry Nadler, Adam Schiff---yes, he was able to attend--- said this:
"Today in the service to our duty to the Constitution and to our country, the House Judiciary Committee is introducing two articles of impeachment, charging the President of the United States of committing high crimes and misdemeanors."
The specific charges---abuse of power and obstruction of Congress---are based on second-hand allegations presented by a "whistleblower" complaint to a partisan CIA officer, who accused the President of attempting to pressure the leader of Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
Notably absent from the charges were any actual charges of "high crimes and misdemeanors" ---bribery, extortion, and treason--- which the three impeachment leaders accused the President of repeatedly until they discovered that nobody believed them. So they moved to other charges.
They have also repeatedly accused the President of obstructing special counsel Mueller's $30 million investigations into the now-debunked criminal conspiracy between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia.
Even Mueller who did his best to "get" the President, has said Trump didn't obstruct.
The leaders of the Left are racing into history with their eyes closed. They are driving under the influence of their own deceptive progressive ideology: If I say or believe it is true---it's true. It's my truth.
That deception seems to work in the classroom or campuses, but in the real world, it doesn't work---whatever one's "truth" may be.
The Left does not see the curve in the road ahead.
Joel Pollack, an award-winning journalist, wrote yesterday that the Democrats are echoing the worst impeachment in American history---the impeachment of President Andrew Johnson in 1868, by drafting an article of impeachment that accuses President Trump of "abuse of power."
Even the Washington Post reported Monday that, "barely hours after the first and last hearings to consider the evidence against the president, with no 'fact witnesses,' the Democrats were preparing their articles of impeachment."
Pollack says what the Democrats are doing in echoing the Johnson impeachment is following the worst possible precedent because of the ambiguity of the charges of "abuse of power."
In fact, the Johnson impeachment is often used as a model of what not to do if you want to impeach a president. Scholars from both political sides argue that every president, in some way, exceeds his authority--therefore every president could be charged with "abuse of power."
Pollack notes that the Democrats actually cite the President Johnson impeachment to strengthen their own case
Pelosi, Schiff, and Nadler are so blinded by their own passions and hatred they are invoking a case that everyone else uses as a model of what not to do.
Pollack says, "The Johnson precedent has been a cautionary tale for over 150 years, a prime example of what Congress 'ought not to do'."
What's motivating the Left to move so fast on impeachment?
Love of country? Or love of power?
Schiff showed up yesterday for the press conference---in which the Democrat leadership took no questions from the press--seeming to suggest that the motivation to speed through this exercise of drive-by destruction of a presidency is necessary because Trump might win the 2020 election.
He briefly addressed critics who say that Democrats should simply wait for the American people to judge the president in the 2020 election.
Schiff said they cannot allow that because it would allow Trump to "cheat" in one more election.
He said, "The argument 'why don't you wait?' comes down to this: Why don't you just let him cheat in just one more election? Why not let him have foreign help one more time?"
This in the backdrop of the "investigation" or "hearings" that produced no witnesses that could demonstrate that the president was asking the Ukraine leader to interfere in the 2020 election.
The bottom line is that Ukraine received a phone call, meeting, and aid---three factors that largely reduce the Democrat's impeachment argument to ashes.
You may remember that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), appearing on CNN's "Situation Room" program in November, said that impeachment is necessary to stop Trump from winning in 2020.
She said, "And so this is not just about something that occurred; this is about preventing a potentially dangerous outcome from occurring next year."
What about the Inspector General Horowitz's report?
Attorney General Bill Barr is accusing the investigators of "gross abuse."
He said yesterday, "It's hard to look at this stuff and not think there was gross abuse."
The Attorney General's office has now turned their investigation toward the real perpetrators of wrongdoing---the far, radical Left who will do anything to regain their power.
A/G Barr also pointed a finger at the media. He said, "I think our nation was turned on its head for three years based on a completely bogus narrative that was largely fanned and hyped by a completely irresponsible press."
His comments are focused, pointed and stinging toward the Left---as they blindly race down the road to destruction.
