The House Communications and Technology subcommittee held a hearing yesterday titled, "Fanning The Flames: Disinformation and Extremism in the Media."
It was a step by the left toward silencing conservative news sources.
However while the heat was turned up on reliable conservative news sources, the mainstream media remained silent about the fact that President Biden is holding kids in cages at our border, after decrying and denouncing President Trump when he detained kids at the border.
The double standard is stunning---and should be very concerning. The deceptions should be even more concerning.
Be informed, not misled.
Hypocrisy.
The mainstream media is being silent as the Biden administration holds unaccompanied migrant children in Border Patrol custody longer than legally allowed.
The head of the Border Patrol says there are more than 800 unaccompanied alien children in custody, despite the legal requirement to release the children to other federal agencies within 72 hours.
The children---all minors, are being held in the same "cages" that the radical left wailed about when the Trump administration was holding children in the recent past.
National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd says, "The hypocrisy from the left and the mainstream media truly shows they care nothing for the children they used as pawns to attack President Trump."
In the midst of the great silence, a conservative journalist asked Biden's Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the Biden administration hypocrisy.
She went to great lengths to explain that "due to the pandemic and social distancing, the Office of Refugee and Resettlement (ORR) only has the capacity for a certain number of children."
Judd says:
"What she didn't explain is that the children that ORR doesn't have the capacity to take are left in facilities far worse than those of HHS. In fact," he said, "they are being held in the same locations they accused the Trump administration of inhuman acts when they said he was holding 'kids in cages'."
Word is out in Central America---and elsewhere, that Biden is soft on protecting our borders. Very soft. And as the song says, they're coming to America.
The number of Unaccompanied Alien Children illegally crossing the border from Mexico into the US is increasing month to month according to the Border Patrol. They report that in January 2021, Border Patrol apprehended 5,871 unaccompanied minors. This is up from 4,995 in December 2020 and 3,076 in January 2020.
The lie
Yesterday, the House Communications and Technology subcommittee held a hearing titled, "Fanning the Flames: Disinformation and Extremism in the Media." Not to look into misrepresentations like those from the Biden administration, but to discover how conservative news sources may have worsened the coronavirus pandemic by spreading misinformation about not wearing masks, etc., and election fraud claims.
In fact, two Democrat members of the committee have asked leading mainstream television officials if they plan to take action against Fox News, Newsmax, and One America News Network for "spreading misinformation."
Shut them down.
And they are blaming conservative news outlets for disseminating disinformation related to the Jan. 6 "insurrection" at the Capitol, the November 3rd election, and Covid-19.

Thankfully, there's some pushback.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), specifically addressing another attempt of the left to silence any voice that doesn't support their narrative--H.R. 1, said yesterday, "You don't have a functioning First Amendment when only one side is allowed to talk."
He said, "I think the biggest threat, frankly, is this Cancel Culture, radical left attempt to silence Americans, silence people they disagree with, and frankly, just get rid of the First Amendment."
He said, "They want to be able to lie about us, but we can't tell the truth about them"
And he said, "This won't stop with conservatives. The target right now is conservatives and Republicans. But the appetite of the Cancel Culture mob is never satisfied. They will go after everyone else as well."
He's right. The appetite of hatred is never satisfied.
Neither is the lust for power.
Ben Shapiro shared his concern yesterday.
Shapiro wrote about the assault on free speech taking place before our eyes---in plain sight---expressing deep concern.
He concludes,
"But it soon became clear that the authoritarian left wasn't interested in active disinformation springing from foreign sources. It was troubled by any narrative or information that contradicted its point of view."
They're "troubled by any narrative of information that contradicts its point of view" and now labels it "misinformation" that must "be policed."
Now, he says, they have created a "legal standard" for "incitement" which the left has broadened out to mean "any verbiage that elicits strong emotions...so long as conservatives are responsible for such verbiage."
And he said this:
"The establishment media are fond of saying that we're experiencing a crisis of authoritarianism in America; they point to the criminal acts of January 6 and suggest that the right-wing authoritarianism threatens democracy itself."
"The far greater threat to democracy, however, lies with an authoritarian left that is now ascendant in virtually every powerful institution in America."
Takeaway
Thomas Jefferson spoke to today's progressive left, and the voters who elected them:
"When the representative body have lost the confidence of their constituents, when they have notoriously made sale of their most valuable rights, when they have assumed to themselves powers which the people never put in their hands, then indeed their continuing in office becomes dangerous to the state."
