Trump's Trial-- "Christians Responsible For Insurrection?"

Trump's trial begins today.

Associated Press is wistfully admitting that the great American impeachment of private citizen Donald Trump is a "near impossibility."

Senator Rand Paul says, "The second impeachment of former President Trump is nothing more than a 'partisan farce' with 'zero' chance of a conviction."

While Pelosi and Schumer are not calm, they are forcefully carrying on.

Why?

They know it's futile. Even FBI affidavits now show that there were groups who were planning the assault on the Capitol well in advance of Trump's rally.

This episode in American history reveals more about the condition of our culture, than about the actions of a former president.

One congressman is blaming Christians for the Capitol breach.

Be informed, not misled.

Associated Press seems resigned to the outcome of the impeachment of private citizen, former President Trump, but still writes thousands of words to be sure that you know that Trump incited violence at our Capitol.

"Dr." Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has given the event a close examination and diagnosed it as "partisan farce" that needs further treatment.

The diagnosis


He says, "If you are going to criminalize speech, and somehow impeach everybody who says 'Go fight to have your voices heard', I mean really we ought to impeach [New York Democrat Senator] Chuck Schumer."

Paul reminds us all that it was Schumer who stood in front of the Supreme Court building and gave a very provocative speech saying, "Hey [Justice Neil] Gorsuch, hey [Justice Brett] Kavanaugh you've unleashed a whirlwind. And you're going to pay a price."

He said, "Inside the walls of this court, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments, as you know, for the first major abortion rights cases since Justice Kavanaugh and Justice Gorsuch came to the bench."

He added, "From Louisiana to Missouri to Texas, Republican legislatures are waging a war on women, all women, and they're taking away fundamental rights. I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released a whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won't know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

Schumer's outburst of anger was so bad even Chief Justice Roberts, who rarely says anything publicly, condemned the remarks saying this kind of language is dangerous as a mob tried to invade the Supreme Court.

Roberts, who has been no friend to Trump or conservatives, told Schumer recently, "Heck no, I'm coming across the street because you're not impeaching a president."

Paul says the Trump defense team will also play a video of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) as she "encouraged people to 'harass' supporters of Trump, telling the crowd to mob Trump administration [officials] in restaurants and attack them."

He says, "They'll probably show clips of  N.J. Democrat Sen. Cory Booker saying get up in their face of these congresspeople"---and "there's Rep Ilhan Omar (D-Minn) wishing and celebrating the violence that happened to me when I had six ribs broken and part of my lung removed."

He asked, "Has nobody in this country heard of figurative speech?" 

Paul concluded, "You can't just criminalize Republican speech and ignore all the Democrats who incited violence."

Evidence has already mounted that the Capitol breach was pre-planned.

A number of FBI affidavits and complaints had been filed before Trump's rally showing the riot was not incited by Trump.

Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) said parts of the Capitol had been pre-planned and coordinated before Trump's speech.

The fallout.

Dick Morris, a former adviser to President Clinton, told the audience on New York's WABC 770 AM  Radio, "Any Republican who defied former President Donald Trump and voted for his impeachment will not win re-election."

He could be right. Opinion polls in Wyoming show Rep. Liz Cheney, even though she is former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, has fallen to 13% support in her home state because she joined the Democrats and voted for Trump's impeachment. There are 9 others who will also have to deal with this reality as well.

But this isn't about justice or truth. It's about vengeance and power. And two very different world views.

Who was really behind the riot at the Capitol?



Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA.) knows. He has entered in the Congressional record that he observed "thousands of Jesus signs, banners and flags being carried by the rioters who stormed the Capitol."

He says:

"The past four years have made it clear that there are those who would choose to distort the true definition of religious freedom, in order to allow the proliferation of discrimination under the guise of what they refer to as 'religious liberty'."

"The result of this callous and malignant effort culminated a week and a half ago," he claims, "with the storming of the United States Capitol Building by White Christian Nationalist groups allied with the President, and the deaths of five Americans."

He continues:

"The evidence of this fact is made clear by the thousands of 'Jesus signs, banners and flags that flew beside those bearing the President's name, and those representing the White Supremacist movement."

So that settles it. Dismiss the Trump impeachment trial. It was the Christians who committed the 
"insurrection." 

This is not the first time Christians have been blamed for the collapse of a culture.

In the aftermath of the fire that destroyed about two-thirds of Rome, according to Tacitus, Emperor Nero blamed the devastation on the Christian community, and because of their being responsible for the fire, he initiated the empire's first organized persecution against the Christians. 

Many "historical accounts" list "the rise of Christianity" as one of the 5 reasons the Roman Empire fell. Why? Because it ran counter to the culture of the time that had come to accept that the Roman emperor was a god and the Christians would not accept that fact, nor would they worship him.
