The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) is calling it a "mass exodus" as their survey shows four in ten school leaders are leaving education within the next three years---many even sooner.
More than 33% plan to leave public education altogether.
And 62% say they will leave public education within the next six years.
Parents coast to coast are fighting school districts on everything from Critical Race Theory to mask mandates to obscene textbooks to parental authority.
And masses of parents are looking for alternatives to public education for their children.
Abraham Lincoln observed that "The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next."
The philosophy of Woodstock has become the philosophy of Washington DC and our government-run schools.
Be informed, not misled.
What Founding Father Noah Webster had in mind when he created what we know as public education was profoundly different than what we see playing out in our country today.
Public education is failing on almost all fronts.
The far-left policies of our current government regarding masks and mandates are, ironically, cannibalizing the very "education " and its curriculum they have worked so hard to create and smuggle into our public schools.
Principals are leaving the schools.
The website "The 74" begins with this about a Washington State principle:
As Derek Forbes began his third pandemic school year as a high school principal in Washington state, he was facing an uptick in disruptive behavior — kids talking back to teachers, getting into disagreements with their peers.
Perhaps, he thought, young people had lost some maturing time in pandemic isolation, since the behavior was more typical of younger students. Or maybe, like him, they were exhausted.
The mental health positions he’d posted stayed vacant for a fifth month. He and his principal colleagues in the Meridian School District were now logging upwards of 60 hours a week, taking on responsibilities of counselors, nurses, subbing as teachers, and food service workers. All while being verbally attacked at local school board meetings over curricula and mask guidelines.
“My students aren’t learning the way I want them to, they’re dealing with their own mental health issues that I can’t help them with, my staff is struggling with those same things. And more and more stuff just continues to pile on,” he said.
For the first time in his 22-year education career, a depleted Forbes has thought about leaving the job he loves...
“I always thought that I would always stay in education, and I have no doubt that I will continue… But, I thought about what else might be out there. And I never thought I would do that,” he said.
His experience is hardly rare. Across the country, many principals are preparing to leave the field altogether.
He notes that the disruption of regular classes due to mandated policies regarding COVID-19 is the root cause of the mental issues and class disruptions by students.
That's probably true. But let us not forget or be misled: It is the obsession for power, the lack of leadership ability, and the general dysfunction of our current government leadership that has put these destructive covid policies in place.
NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe said in a report that principals are saying, "'Man, you know, I'm not ready to die. I'm not dying yet but this thing is killing me' really scares me."
Other principals are emphasizing the fact that they are getting "beat up" by parents at the school board meetings, while others say they are sick and tired of the long hours in the evening making calls and communications about the latest pandemic guidance to families.
Most all of this---the ever-changing Covid guidance and the angry parents can be laid at the feet of the leftist leadership in the White House and their leftist policies.
The parents are angry about several things.
Yes, parents are upset, no, "angry" about a number of things. Yes, Covid has disrupted everyone's lives---certainly parents and their kids and the school they attend.
But it's more than that. Public education has become a center for indoctrination---rather than education.
And everybody knows it. Public education is not the institution that educated today's children's grandparents. It's Woodstock personified.
It's not only the conservatives and Christians that are pulling their kids from public education, all though they are, en masse---it's also those who do not profess faith and are left and liberal in their worldview.
The headline reads: "Parents are fighting back as sexually explicit content spreads coast to coast in public schools."
Ironically, parents who first turned their attention toward their local public school because of the Covid mandates became aware of how deeply critical race theory has become embedded in a child's "education" and how obscene so many of the child's books are---even those for kindergarteners.
Amy Jahr, a mother from Loudoun County, Virginia says, "I think it's been hidden from a lot of parents. The shut down has allowed parents to actually see and hear some of the content in classrooms."
The content she's referring to is sexually explicit books like "Gender Queer," which was a recipient of the American Library Award.
Author Maia Kobabe, during an interview, describes her book as "a story of my own life about coming out as queer and non-binary and asexual."
The story contains graphic text and illustrations depicting men having intercourse, children engaged in sexual acts, pedophilia, and sexual fantasies of the then 14-year-old author.
Natassia Grover has been a public school mom of three. She says, "They basically want to normalize the abnormal, right? Any idea of sexual boundaries, any right and wrong morality, they want knocked down." She has pulled her three kids out of public schools.
Sadly, resistance to removing these books from public education libraries is very strong. Democrat elected officials in various states are voting to keep these books available in the local schools.
Homosexual advocacy organizations and the LGBTQ community are demanding the books stay in the system, arguing they are of value because they are about "justice and inclusion."
Dr. Danny Huetra of Focus on the Family warns, "It begins to shape their experience and perception of what it means to be in a relationship with someone else and it opens experiences up, experiences they would never have been exposed to in such an explicit way, and it begins to shape their behavior toward other people."
This is not an isolated instance, nor is it a single book somewhere in a far-away place. It's pervasive.
And more of the same is on its way.
More child pornography coming soon to a school near you.
Among other things, it declares that gender is "who you are inside"---not determined by your biological sex.
"There are so many gender identities," a Relationships and Sex Education teacher says in a video. It continues, "So, we know we've got male and female, but there are over 100, if not more, gender identities now..."
The teacher adds that "you've got some people who might call themselves genderqueer, who are just like 'I don't really want to be anything, in particular, I'm just going to be me'."
Two resources called "The Big Talk" and "Understanding Sexual and Gender Identities" use "trusted adults" to help guide the kids through the controversial subjects. One of these individuals is a transvestite named Leo Lardie who was born female but now she identifies as a man.
The guidance is explicit.
In another clip, a principal tells kids that they "might be gay" if they are attracted to someone of the same sex in a slightly different way than you do normally to your friends."
Lardie then tells the kids that anyone who is critical of LGBTQ ideology "just don't know any better yet."
The principal then clarifies that people can "go to prison" for "disrespecting or being hateful to people because of a difference that person perceives."
Do you think the combination of indoctrination in the public schools and the leftist Covid policies of this administration has any negative impact on your kids?
The Jason Foundation's Parent Resource Program---I'm not endorsing them, merely quoting their statistics from CDC---published this:
- Youth Suicide Statistics have soared in recent years.
- Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. (CDC WISQARS)
- Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for college-age youth and ages 12-18. (CDC WISQARS)
- More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED.
- Each day in our nation, there are an average of over 3,703 attempts by young people grades 9-12. If these percentages are additionally applied to grades 7 & 8, the numbers would be higher.
I'm not suggesting public education is fully responsible, but do you think it contributes to these statistics?
I do.
A better way.
The Bible is clear that the raising of children is the responsibility of their parents. Those programs and resources that assist parents in educating their children can be helpful.
Those resources that undermine parents educating their children are unbiblical and destructive.
I strongly suggest you seriously consider removing your children from public education if at all possible. I have come to this conclusion slowly, thoughtfully, and prayerfully.
Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Vigilant. Be Engaged. Be Prayerful.
