Biden's "Potemkin Village"

Authorities in El Paso tore down migrant encampments under cover of darkness and dispatched hundreds of migrants across the border to Mexico ahead of President Biden’s Sunday visit to the overwhelmed border town.

Encampments near the downtown bus station and the Sacred Heart Church, which operates a shelter, were dismantled by local authorities as the city prepared to host President Biden’s first visit to the southern border.

Six buses loaded with mostly Venezuelan migrants were spotted crossing a downtown bridge to Juarez, the frontier city in Mexico on Saturday as police escorted dozens more to a pedestrian crossing.

Biden officials created an illusion, so the president and the press could pretend everything at the border is under control as the president dropped by yesterday.

I'm reminded of Gregor Sailor's book titled, "The Potemkin Village"---a book about how governments create illusions and deceptions.

Be informed, not misled.

Illegal to Daily Caller: "I think officials are playing with us."

A lot of American citizens feel the same way.

A Border Patrol agent who did not want to be identified told The New York Post that more 200 people were sent back to Mexico Saturday.

“People are saying that if you are out in the streets the Border Patrol will get you and deport you because the president is coming to El Paso and they don’t want to show him the reality of things,” said Maria Rodriguez, 23, from Venezuela, who told The Post she has been living in a dumpster in El Paso for the last three days. “I hope we get shelter tonight because it took us a lot of courage to go out of that dumpster after three days..."

Another Venezuelan migrant told The Post he had been sleeping on the porch of a downtown church and was angry with Biden for making false promises to migrants when he took office in 2021.

“I really think politicians are playing with us,” said Joan Enriquez, 21. “Both sides, Democrats and Republicans. We are props to them because like Biden, he first said he wanted to help us, and then he shut the border down and we can’t find a way to get legal in this country.”

Critics slammed El Paso authorities for trying to sanitize the chaos ahead of Biden’s visit.

“El Paso being cleaned up as if nothing unusual ever happened there. Just in time for Biden’s ‘visit to the border,'” tweeted ( link A ) the Border Patrol Union. “We suggest landing in Des Moines, Iowa, and telling him it’s El Paso. He’ll never know the difference.”

The Border Patrol Union has complained of low morale among frontline agents who have had to deal with a historic number of migrants crossing the southern border in fiscal 2022. More than 2.4 million migrants have crossed the nearly 2,000-mile border with Mexico, with tens of thousands pouring into El Paso in recent weeks.

Saturday, the Daily Caller reported, "Hundreds of illegal immigrants are sleeping on the streets and on city buses in the cold weather and crime is rampant the night before President Joe Biden is set to visit El Paso."

Biden’s visit Sunday will be his first trip to the U.S.-Mexico border, which has been overwhelmed by record surges of illegal immigration.

“This has never happened before. We’ve never had people, I want to say in the history of El Paso sleeping on the streets the way they’re sleeping on the streets now,” former city councilwoman Claudia Rodriguez told the Caller.

El Paso was in chaos before Biden’s arrival, with hundreds of illegal immigrants sleeping on the streets, and some illegally charging residents for free parking spots and stealing cell phones.

But the Biden administration claims things are getting much better.

The number of illegal immigrants coming to the city has dropped “since the peak in December” when it was “2,000 a day,” to a current number of 700 a day, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told the press on Sunday.

Everything is going to be just fine.

We're making progress.

Biden's Potemkin Village.

Back in 2017, Gregor Sailor captured almost two dozen fake urban landscapes for his new photography book titled, "The Potemkin Village."

He captured Junction City and 21 other fake urban landscapes for his new book.

They included a New York-themed town in Sweden built to test cars for road safety; a Russian city with elaborate facades disguising forlorn buildings; and a Dutch hamlet in China that tourists visit for a taste of Europe. “Sometimes they’re more real and other times they’re more an illusion,” Sailor says. “I’m jumping between these two worlds, and that’s what makes it exciting for me.”

President Biden and his so-called "progressives" also jump between the two worlds of reality and make-believe. That's what progressives always do because their worldview is rooted in relativism, not reality.

The original term "Potemkin Village" derives from a story dating back to 18th-century Russia, suggesting that an artificial place can be built to disguise or conceal the true -- and often less desirable-- identity of the original.

During a visit by Empress Catherine II to Crimea in 1787, Russian governor Gregor Potemkin constructed fake settlements to conceal the dilapidated conditions of the town.

Sailor's point in his picture book was that as the photograph itself is a reproduction, there are two layers of replication taking place. The work is a copy of the original which destabilizes the distinction between original and copy.

The progressive lives in the shadowy world of illusion.

This illusion includes convincing the public that the criteria for marriage is merely the union between people who love each other, therefore "Love Wins."

Biden's progressive left has created the illusion that abortion is women's healthcare and that every woman has a constitutional "right" to it.

Biden's Potemkin Village is one where children as young as 5 years old are misled into thinking their biological gender is different than the gender with which they identify.

Potemkin's illusion touches every part of life, creating what appears to be real, only to find upon closer inspection that it's all an illusion.

The makeover in El Paso was a quick weekend project to prove that everything is under control on the border.

The progressive illusionists have many more significant construction projects underway to further mislead the public.

Beware.

The Prophet Isaiah said 5:20-21: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!"

God does not look favorably upon calculated deception.

In Ephesians 5:6 Paul writes, "Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience."

And  Colossians 2:8 says, "See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ."
