Beverly Hills: "You Get What You Vote For"

John Nolte wrote yesterday, "In today’s chapter of You Get What You Vote For, check out how left-wing policies are turning Beverly Hills into a boarded-up ghost town."

New York Mayor Eric Adams declared yesterday that illegal immigration "Will Destroy NYC: It’s Going to Come to Your Neighborhoods."

As long as the illegal migrants were tucked away somewhere---out of sight---open borders seemed like a good plan to the elitist  Left---a new voting block for the Democrats, and cheap labor for everyone else---and a show of compassion and virtue by the Leftists.

What could possibly go wrong?

Be informed, not misled.

Beverly Hills no more?

John Nolte, writing for Breitbart News, said this:

I lived in Los Angeles during the 2008 economic meltdown, which hit the state hard, but Beverly Hills never looked like this. Why would it? This is not a criticism, just an observation: the rich will always be rich. The rich will always have money and want to purchase luxury items. My little neighborhood in East Los Angeles looked like it had been hit with a nuclear bomb in 2008. Every other business, all of them small businesses, closed down. Beverly Hills, however, will always be Beverly Hills.

Well, at least until now… Lol.

He continues:

This is what happens when reality meets left-wing policies.

Democrat voters voted to basically decriminalize stealing. Whether it’s grand theft, forgery, shoplifting, receiving stolen property, or drugs — if we’re talking about less than $950, it’s a misdemeanor. That ballot initiative passed in 2014 by a margin of 60 to 40 percent. More than 4.2 million Californians voted for that insanity. What did they expect? Better still, all the big California cities voted for Soros-funded prosecutors who refuse to prosecute criminals. Again, what did they expect?

I’m sure those 4.2 million voters felt all warm, virtuous, and progressive, but career criminals are not dumb. They might not be able to read or write, but they become Lex Luthor when it comes to gaming the system.

Nolte is not the only one who has noticed. The New York Post published this headline: RIP Beverly Hills: Video shows high-end retail stores now shuttered amid LA crime wave."

Beverly Hills is becoming a ghost town, as high-end retail stores exit the once-luxurious city near Los Angeles amid a spate of high-end smash-and-grab gang robberies.

Videos posted on TikTok by self-proclaimed “Nostalgic Angelino” cody90210 show off more than a dozen Beverly Hills retailers and restaurants completely shuttered and not replaced by new businesses, leaving their empty storefronts as shells.

Some of the businesses include luxury staples like Barneys New York and Escada, with the once-popular brands having filed for bankruptcy in recent years.

Other big-name stores now lying empty include former locations for Chanel, Rite Aid, Barnes & Noble, Niketown, and restaurants like Chipotle and Starbucks.

NYC is the end near?

Mayor Eric Adams (D) has declared illegal immigration, at its current pace, “will destroy New York City — warning New Yorkers “every service in this city” will have to be cut and that migrants will “come to your neighborhoods.”

CBS News reports, "Mayor Eric Adams made his strongest comments yet on the asylum seeker crisis Wednesday."

"Asylum seekers," aka illegal migrants.

Speaking at a Town Hall meeting on the Upper West Side, the mayor said he doesn't see an end to the problem, as the city is not getting enough support from the federal government.

"Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don't see an ending to this. I don't see an ending to this. This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City," Adams said. "We're getting 10,000 migrants a month ... Now we're getting people from all over the globe who have made their minds up that they're going to come through the southern part of the border and come into New York City."

Adams says the city is supporting 110,000 asylum seekers who have arrived in the five boroughs since April 2022.

Adams said no New York City neighborhoods, from Staten Island to Queens, will be spared from illegal immigration.

“It’s going to come to your neighborhoods. All of us are going to be impacted by this,” Adams said. “I said it last year when we had 15,000. I’m telling you now with 110,000. The city we knew, we’re about to lose.”

The country we have known, we're about to lose as well.

Takeaway

Nolte says, here’s the good news…

Because California stopped exporting entertaining movies some years ago, at least we will now have the entertainment of watching the state implode. And it will implode. Democrats never admit they are wrong. Democrat voters never vote for change. If you don’t believe me, see Detroit, Chicago, Oakland, Baltimore… Democrat politicians are evil. Democrat voters are stupid. The glorious result is watching them get what they vote for.

You remove Democrat-run cities from the statistics, and you will find that America is one of the safest, least violent, most tolerant, clean, and idyllic countries on the planet.

Democrats are destroying themselves to prove a point, and I’m all for it.

Los Angeles is not my problem. Los Angeles is not your problem. Los Angeles is not an American problem. I live here. Burn, baby, burn.

Most of us don't want to see Los Angeles or any other American city "burn baby burn," but he makes the point that "you get what you vote for."

A culture, like an individual, reaps what it sows. The seed of honor produces a harvest of honorable acts. The seed of anger eventually yields violence. The law of the harvest is part of the divine design for human society, and it allows no exceptions. A society that sows reverence for life will reap a culture of kindness and a legacy of respect.

G.K. Chesterton, whose moral compass was as solid as any in the last century, knew that Soviet totalitarianism was doomed to failure. But he feared the rise of a more enduring and peculiarly American form of moral relativism. "The madness of tomorrow," he predicted, "is not in Moscow, but much more in Manhattan." His prophetic words should humble the American heart, for he saw the future clearly. That future is now our present.

A world that has, in the last century alone, witnessed the horrors of Auschwitz, the Soviet gulag, the Cambodian killing fields, Nazi "medicine," and two world wars has no reason to trust its own "values.

Chesterton also once noted that the mark of the barbarian is "the sacrifice of the permanent to the temporary." Amid a new barbarism, it is the church's task to speak permanent truths to a rebelling world.

Remember, the church, too, will reap what it sows.
