Oregon Celebrates Killing Babies

Monday, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek declared “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day,” aiming to recognize and honor the work of abortionists in the state. But pro-life Americans are aghast at a day set aside to celebrate killing babies.

“Here in Oregon, we understand that abortion is health care, and providers are appreciated and can continue to provide care without interference and intimidation,” Governor Kotek said.

Be informed, not misled.

When did killing unwanted unborn children  become "women's healthcare?"

With LifeNews, Steven Ertelt said, "From a pro-life perspective, this declaration is deeply concerning. Abortion ends an innocent human life, and thus, celebrating those who do abortions contradicts the fundamental value of protecting life at all stages."

He continued, "Such proclamations may further entrench the normalization of abortion in society. Instead of celebrating abortion providers who snuff out the lives of little babies, efforts should focus on supporting pregnant women through resources and alternatives that affirm life, such as adoption services and comprehensive prenatal care."

Fox News said, "Oregon's governor has signed a proclamation that will make March 10 "Abortion Provider Appreciation Day," in an effort to reaffirm her administration's commitment to "maintaining access to abortion care across the state."

Fox continued, "Here in Oregon, we understand that abortion is healthcare, and providers are appreciated and can continue to provide care without interference and intimidation," Governor Tina Kotek said in a statement. "To our providers and to the patients who live in Oregon or have been forced to retreat to our state for care, know that I continue to have your back."

With her "wife" standing by her side, Gov. Kotek promised, "Oregon leads the nation with the strongest protections to access reproductive health care, including abortion. In these uncertain times, I’ll safeguard our values," Kotek wrote in a post on X.

Immediately following the November election, officials said Kotek directed the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to partner with OHSU to replace the state's three-year supply of Mifepristone, a medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over twenty years ago for use in miscarriage management and to end a pregnancy.

Oregon Senate Republicans shared their reaction to Kotek's declaration and slammed the governor for focusing on "abortion provider appreciation" over fixing other issues in the state.

"Fix crime? Fix schools? Fix affordability? Nah… Kotek declares ‘Abortion Provider Appreciation Day’ instead," the group wrote in a post on X with a meme attached.

"Safeguarding our values" apparently includes mutilating those children who escape the abortionist.

In 2023, Kotek signed the Access to Reproductive Health Care law, House Bill 2002. The bill protects access to reproductive healthcare and provides state funding to support the work of community organizations and clinical partners to ensure that people across the state have broader access to the reproductive healthcare they need.

The bill also allows minors to undergo sex reassignment surgery or obtain an abortion without their parent’s permission.

Justin Hwang, chairman of the Oregon Republican Party, previously said, "HB 2002 is what happens when progressive politicians and their far-left base put woke ideology ahead of common sense."

"This bill represents a new low for Oregon and an even bigger loss for children and parents," Hwang told Fox News Digital. "Imagine being a father or mother who finds out that their child has made a life-changing decision without any consent or notification."

Oregon Right To Life shares the story of one who walked away from the abortion industry.

On their website, Oregon Right To Life reacted to the Governor's special day by posting the story of a young woman who walked away from the abortion industry.

Meet Christine Kwipu:

You may have heard it's Abortion Provider Appreciation Day, Oregon Right To Life says,—but we're not celebrating abortion. We're honoring a brave former abortion worker who chose to walk away from the industry.

"Poised and professional, Christine is a woman with aspirations and fierce love for her family. Christine grew up in a Christian household with solid principles in New York, amidst a highly fluid cultural climate. Beginning in elementary school, Christine knew she wanted to work in the healthcare field and attended a healthcare magnet school. She did not, however, aspire to work in the abortion industry.

This is a link to her story

In it, she shares how she was eased into working at what they call "the clinic" to work up front, only to be eased into working in the actual abortion  rooms:

“It was very draining. It’s like a factory. You’re literally seeing the patients in the waiting room. They come in, you talk to them, they go into the room; it’s not compassionate. You pop them in, then you see the jar and make sure everything is done properly, then you send them into the other room,” Christine described. In the event that all baby parts were unaccounted for, which happened often, they would have to send the woman back into the procedure room.

“Is it enough time for the room to be serviced? Absolutely not. It’s like, let’s finish as many patients as we can so everyone can go home,” Christine said. “[In the recovery room], they look lethargic; a lot of them are contemplating what they did while the workers stood with them for whatever time allotted for them. It wasn’t a happy place.”

This rapid turnover process on abortion days did not allow for rooms and equipment to be properly sterilized between patients. “At certain points, I tried to help out to clean it myself, and sometimes I would see errors from the previous person,” Christine said. “It’s like a factory.”

Christine found it especially difficult to transition from work to home to her beautiful daughters. The contrast between the lack of humanity in the clinic to the warmth she felt as a mother to her precious babies was jarring.

I encourage you to read the full account of how she walked away from "the clinic."

Takeaway

Oregon Right to Life Executive Director Lois Anderson shared an additional statement on the proclamation with Fox News Digital, calling it "unsurprising but appalling."

"There is nothing to celebrate about an industry that profits from taking advantage of vulnerable women and ending the lives of innocent human beings under the guise of ‘health care,'" Anderson said. "Oregon Democrats’ continued obsession with abortion until birth is honestly disturbing."

According to Oregon Health Authority data, of the 10,075 abortions provided in Oregon in 2023, 1,661 were patients who reside out-of-state, reflecting a nearly 60% increase from the prior year.

May we humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways. May God forgive us.
