Politico: Capitalism is out … and Socialism is in

On September 15, nearly two months before Tuesday's election, and socialist Zohran Mamdani's landslide election as Mayor of New York City, left-leaning Politico ran the headline, "Capitalism Is Out...And Socialism Is In."

Politico said, "The socialist brand is on the rise, according to recent polling, fueling the left flank of the Democratic Party to argue its ideology is becoming more mainstream."

They continued, "Shortly after Gallup released data showing Democrats and independents are cooling toward capitalism, a progressive organization is out with a poll finding that more than half of likely Democratic voters prefer socialist-aligned figures like Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zohran Mamdani to establishment politicians like Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Nancy Pelosi."

Sometimes Christianity is said to favor socialism. Is that true?

How should biblical Christians view socialism?

Be informed, not misled.

Democratic voters also view elected officials who describe themselves as democratic socialists about as positively as those who identify as Democrats, and they prefer democratic socialism to capitalism when written definitions of each are read aloud to them, according to the poll conducted by Data for Progress and shared first with POLITICO.

“What the mainstream of the party wants is both democratic socialism as a value system and democratic socialist politicians,” said Gabe Tobias, executive director of the Democratic Socialists of America Fund, a political nonprofit organization that funded the survey with the magazine Jacobin and the Berlin-based democratic socialist group Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

The Gallup Poll results conclude with this "bottom line."

Americans overall continue to be skeptical of socialism, but Democrats are the exception. Since 2016, more Democrats have held positive views of socialism than of capitalism, with the gap expanding to 24 points today. Democrats’ more positive views of socialism occur at a time when many high-profile Democratic officials — most notably, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as well as New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani — have identified themselves as Democratic socialists and advocated policies calling for a significantly expanded government role in economic matters.

Politically and culturally, socialism has never worked. It is always, ultimately destructive.

Did Jesus favor capitalism or socialism?

Despite the best efforts of so-called "progressives", including some professed Christian "progressives"  like the Sojourners, founded by Jim Wallis, Jesus is pictured as a socialist.

His own words tell a different story. In fact, His teaching could only come from a capitalist's perspective.

I'll be sharing Jesus's teaching on capitalism on today's radio program.
