Speaker Johnson Warns of Encroaching Sharia Law in US

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., warned of what he characterized as an encroaching threat from Sharia law in the United States, which he said is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution, during a press briefing Tuesday in Florida.

Asked to respond to a controversial X post from Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., who tweeted Monday, "Muslims don't belong in American society. Pluralism is a lie," Johnson suggested to reporters that while he might not necessarily agree with Ogles' tone, he appreciates the concern he expressed.

Kris Kabul wrote this in the Christian Post: "In the heart of America, a quiet shift is unfolding — one that echoes through our streets and public spaces, signaling the fading resonance of our Judeo-Christian heritage and the bold emergence of a new influence."

Be informed, not misled.

Kabul says, "Remember the church bells? Those timeless chimes that once marked the rhythm of community life, ringing out joy, solemnity, and unity in towns across the nation. Today, they are largely silent. Many churches simply stopped the tradition, no longer seeing fit to ring them. Many because noise ordinances limit or prohibit their chiming in certain communities."

He continues, "Contrast this with another sound gaining ground: the Adhan, the Muslim call to prayer, now blaring over loudspeakers in communities nationwide. Now blaring over loudspeakers, it unapologetically and forcefully declares its presence in our American cities, such as in Dearborn, Mich., Paterson, N.J., Falls Church, Va., New York City, N.Y., and Minneapolis, Minn. The Adhan's call is becoming a fixture, a sonic marker of shifting cultural tides in America."

"And," he says, "this isn't a mere coincidence; it's a vivid illustration of the waning embrace of Judeo-Christian values in our society and the unchecked rise of Islamic ideology. A silent battle is underway, far deeper than bells and calls to prayer, though these serve as its outward symbols."

NPR said, "The United States was not established as a Christian nation."

Could this be true as we celebrate our 250th Birthday?

"If you look closely, you'll see Islam and Sharia purposely weaving themselves into the fabric of our cities — not just in Minnesota and Michigan, but in Texas, Ohio, Florida, and beyond. These aren't isolated pockets; they're systematic efforts to establish self-contained Islamic communities, complete with their own governance, healthcare, schools, businesses, and more. Under the guise of religious freedom, a political system rooted in Sharia is advancing into our neighborhoods," Kabul writes.

Speaker Johnson says, "Sharia law and the imposition of Sharia law are contrary to the U.S. Constitution. Our Constitution is the greatest in the world. It's the longest surviving Constitution on the planet, and we're 250 years into this grand experiment in self-governance."

Noting that the Declaration of Independence affirms human dignity and value, and that U.S. law guarantees freedom of religion, Johnson said Sharia law conflicts with it.

Weaving Sharia into our culture, while not assimilating.

"But when you seek to come to a country and not assimilate, but to impose Sharia law — Sharia law is in conflict with the Constitution — that is the conflict that people are talking about. It is not about people, as Muslims; it is about those who seek to impose a different belief system that is in direct conflict with the Constitution."

Last month, Johnson expressed that the Bible does not demand a nation accept immigrants who refuse to assimilate.

In January, Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, launched the Sharia-Free America Caucus with another Texas congressman amid fears their state has been inundated with Muslim immigrants who have no intention of assimilating, but aim instead to establish self-governing enclaves under Sharia.

Last month, Roy chaired a hearing by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government on the topic, during which Democratic members scoffed at the threat of Sharia while warning about what they deemed the greater threat posed by "white Christian nationalism," which they never defined.

Roy noted during the hearing that he has spoken to Texans in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who claim parts of the Metroplex have effectively become "no-go zones" for non-Muslims, echoing similar situations in Europe and the United Kingdom.

A call for biblical Christians to awaken.

The signs are unmistakable. In cities across the nation, Islamic prayers are spilling onto streets, halting traffic and boldly claiming public space as a display of dominance.

Take a recent event on “World Hijab Day” in a Dallas public school: Islamists were welcomed in, fitting young girls with hijabs and niqabs while distributing Islamic literature and Qurans. It later emerged that the same school had been hosting student Islamic prayer meetings on its premises. This isn't happenstance — American Islamic leaders have openly articulated a plan to dominate and reshape the nation. To quote a recent Islamic leader, Sohail, shouting on the streets of New York City’s Taraweeh prayer, “We will not stop until Islam enters every home.”

Make no mistake: This is war. A war many busy Americans don’t notice — Islamists are counting on that. It cloaks itself in the language of tolerance and religious liberty, exploiting our freedoms to erode them from within. A closer examination of Sharia reveals its fundamental incompatibility with our Constitution. Consider just three glaring conflicts:

  • Sharia mandates punishment for those who leave Islam and criminalizes free speech about Allah, Muhammad, or any dissent against Islam. Yet our First Amendment enshrines the unassailable rights to free expression and religious choice. Not compatible.
  • Sharia endorses marriages between young girls—as young as 9—and adult men, while denying women equal rights. In stark opposition, the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees equal protection under the law for all, including children, women, and non-Muslims. Not compatible.
  • Sharia permits cruel and unusual punishments like amputation, stoning, flogging, and execution for apostasy, often without due process. This directly defies our Fifth, Fourteenth, and Eighth Amendments, which safeguard justice, fairness, and humane treatment. Not compatible.

Mormonism and Islam.

There is a great debate within the LDS church over whether the church is contributing millions of dollars to Islam-oriented groups through its charities, or not. Donations that actually support the expansion of Islam.

Amy Mek has written extensively about this apparent growing relationship.

This is her most recent post.  She is the founder and president of RAIR Foundation

Here are a few of the issues she addresses:

  • LDS Charities partnered with Medglobal, an Illinois-based charity that openly boasted of collaborating directly with Hamas’s Ministry of Health in Gaza (2020 announcement lists LDS Charities alongside Hamas-connected Rahma Worldwide and Taliban-linked Islamic Oasis). Medglobal received $200,000 from LDS in 2017 and $1.9 million in 2019, with support continuing in recent years.
  • The Church has long collaborated with Islamic Relief (Muslim Brotherhood-linked, designated a terror organization by the UAE), serving as its largest donor after the 2004 tsunami and contributing millions in goods and services.

These partnerships persisted years after the groups’ terror connections were reported. When previously challenged, the LDS Church dismissed concerns as “false” without addressing specifics, claiming no aid was diverted -  yet the collaborations continued.

  • This is the same Church that promotes “interfaith friendship” while funding mosque construction in conservative Utah, where conversions are surging, and Republican leaders (Gov. Cox, SLC mayor in hijab at City Hall iftar) are accommodating Islamic events with zero reciprocity from Muslim-majority nations.
  • Utah Mormons: Your tithing dollars are building mega-mosques at home and - indirectly - supporting Hamas-aligned networks abroad.
  • This isn’t compassion. It’s dangerous, one-sided enabling of the ideology now infiltrating red-state Utah.

Democrats are celebrating: AOC yesterday on X: "Had a blast at our family block parties this weekend and celebrating Eid across the Bronx and Queens!"

"We gave away toys, had pizza and ice cream, and uplifted community organizations to spread some joy and have FUN."

And NPR says, "

Takeaway

Several U.S. states have already passed legislation banning or limiting the application of foreign or Islamic Sharia law in state courts, often phrased as "American laws for American courts" acts. These laws primarily target the consideration of foreign legal codes in family law and have been passed in states such as Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas.

How can we integrate a political ideology that seeks to undermine the bedrock of our republic? We can't—and history offers no precedent for Sharia coexisting peacefully within another sovereign government. To embrace it is to invite our own unraveling and destruction.

Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties. Write its precepts in your hearts, and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book are we indebted for all the progress made in true civilization, and to this we must look as our guide in the future. ‘Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people’ (Ulysses S. Grant, 18th President).

Ben Franklin reminded us that he and our other Founding Fathers had given us a "republic, if  you can keep it."
