Public Schools are "Emancipating" Your Kids

A former Washington resident says she hasn’t seen her child since late November 2025 after staff at Puyallup High School allegedly advised gender affirming care without their permission and provided the child with resources for emancipation.

Jody Holman, now living in Texas, detailed a harrowing story about how her daughter, Eleanor, lived two lives: at home, “Eleanor was Eleanor,” but at school, under the supervision of school administrators, Eleanor wanted to be called Elliot and identify as he/him.

Your tax dollars for public education are too often used to steal the child from their parents in the name of "emancipation."

If you have school-age children or grandchildren, beware.

Heads up.

Be informed, not misled.

HEYWIRE News says, "Jodie Holman and her husband have experienced horrors from the Washington Public School system that no parent should be forced to face. Their daughter, Elle, has been missing for months due to a coordinated effort from her school to help her run away and hide from her parents. Jodie is now speaking out about losing faith in the school system and her fight to get her daughter back."

Here's her story:

( indent) Holman alleged that Puyallup High School decided that since her family was non-affirming, they couldn’t care for their own child appropriately, and school staff took matters into their own hands, according to Holman.

“They stepped in in ways that I believe they never should have because they got between a child and their parents,” Holman said in an exclusive interview on Heywire News Media. “They advocated for Eleanor to have gender affirming care, off campus, outside of walking distance.”

Holman says she discovered gender care resources in her daughter’s backpack

One day, Holman found a list of gender care facilities in Eleanor’s backpack and said the material was provided to her by a school counselor without her knowledge. In light of her discovery, Holman demanded to meet with the school.

During the meeting, one of the fill-in counselors who oversaw Eleanor stood up and “yelled” to Holman that “it is [the counselor’s] right to provide that information to this child.”

This notion of the "Counselor's right" to provide information to your child is tied to the idea that the child belongs to the school.

Although the idea sounds unbelievable, it is becoming accepted as a norm in public education.

Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) President Stacy Davis Gates said that children belong to them while delivering a speech at the City Club of Chicago.

“Baldwin says the children are always ours. Every single one of them, all over the globe. And what comes next is ‘CTU thinks your children are its children.’ Yes, we do. We do. We do,” Davis Gates said on Monday.

Davis Gates cited James Baldwin, a prominent writer and civil rights activist.

Davis Gates went on to say, “‘CTU thinks all children belong to it. And they’re a socialist conspiracy ideology.’ Well, I don’t know about all that, but we like children. We educate them, we nurture them, we protect them, we support them, we negotiate for them, we create space for them. We even have them in our homes.”

The Freedom Foundation said regarding the matter: "Chicago Teachers Union president Stacy Davis Gates just said the quiet part out loud: “CTU thinks your children are its children.” That’s not their families. Not their teachers. Not even their parents.

It’s the union.

This wasn’t a slip. It was a window into how public‑sector unions—especially in education—see their role. It’s not about representing teachers. It’s about controlling the narrative, reshaping social norms, and consolidating power.

Let’s be crystal clear: no child belongs to a union.

Children are not property. They’re not political pawns. They certainly don’t belong to an institution that crafts woke manifestos while classrooms suffer.

The rest of Jody Holman's story.

Holman later submitted public records requests to dig into what information Eleanor was being provided, leading to a shocking discovery.

She learned that Eleanor was connected with Oasis Center, an LGBTQ+ youth organization, and Team Child, a legal advocate providing free services for youth.

The purpose of the school putting Eleanor in touch with these groups, according to Holman, was “to get Eleanor transitioned.”

Team Child allegedly attempted to terminate Holman’s parental rights even though there was no abuse at home, and Holman believed a school counselor was a part of the effort to break Eleanor away from the parents, citing state privacy law as a reason to intervene.

“Is it actually the child’s privacy, or is it the predator trying to separate the child from the parents?” Holman asked, according to Heywire News Media. “Is it really privacy, or is it about taking a vulnerable person who is a child and placing them in increased danger? As parents, we believed involvement meant collaboration.”

Holman amplified her story at a recent Let’s Go Washington rally advocating for the passage of the Parents’ Bill of Rights initiative, a movement Holman believes can prevent her story from becoming a reality with other families dealing with gender dysphoria.

“It was something we were navigating as a family, which every family should have the right to navigate on their own; every family should have that right,” Holman said. “But when the school and the state come in between that, we don’t get the right to navigate that. We don’t get the right to be able to work on it as a family together to work through our own issues.”

Holman’s daughter, now 16 years old, remains missing somewhere in the Dripping Springs, Texas area as of this reporting.

Takeaway

Children are a gift from God. Their parents, not the government, are responsible for raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 says,

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Bottom line. We are to serve the Lord publicly and privately before our children in the home and elsewhere.

Parents are not perfect. Are they? But we can be authentic in our faith. And never let the State come between the parent and the child.
