What Are Democrats Thinking?

Yesterday, on our daily live radio program, I said I believe these are consequential times, and if the Left takes control of the country in the upcoming midterms and the general election two years from now, it will be very difficult to recover from the Leftist Democrat Party's extremism.

Several polls have been taken recently by left-leaning organizations to learn what Democrats are actually thinking.

The results are concerning.

Be informed, not misled.

In its latest edition, Liberal Currents asks, “What Are Democrats Thinking?” A lot of them are thinking about a dead President Donald Trump, according to a new poll featured in the left-wing digital magazine. 

The poll, conducted in partnership with the Center for Strategic Politics, finds about one out of every three Democrats responding would like to see Trump assassinated while speaking at a rally. The survey of Democrat voters found 23 percent would feel “very positive” about the violent scenario posed. Another 8 percent would feel “somewhat positive.” 

More than half would welcome — at least at some level — the president dying in his sleep while in office, according to the poll, conducted on Sept. 3 and Sept. 8-10. 

So much for the peace-loving left.

The Federalist noted, "No surprise, many Democrats want Trump out in the worst way. It is curious. For a party that fancies itself the defender of democracy, today’s Democrats are cool with a “by any means necessary” approach to getting rid of their hated political foe."

They also noted, "But apparently military coups are an acceptable way of restoring said democracy and upholding the Constitution, according to a majority of respondents. To 'safeguard the Constitution,' 43 percent of Democrats surveyed said they would find it 'very positive if a group of U.S. military leaders” remove the president — their commander-in-chief — from power and “assumed control of the United States.”

After two failed impeachment trials, Democrats long for more of the same. The poll found 75 percent of respondents would feel very positive if they woke up tomorrow and read that Trump had been “impeached and convicted by both houses of Congress. Perhaps the good folks at Liberal Currents and the Center for Strategic Politics should take a refresher course on the Constitution. (Actually, the House impeaches; the Senate convicts.) 

What Democrats really want is for Trump to go now. And 74 percent of the poll’s respondents would be okay with employing the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office because he is “declared unfit” to continue serving. That, of course, would require the consent of the vice president and a majority of the cabinet. 

If they think the man who succeeded and preceded Trump in office couldn’t be declared unfit, no one can.

A majority of Democrats want to pack the Supreme Court and abolish the filibuster, but abolishing the Senate altogether is widely disfavored (though 34% of Dems under 45 support it).

The Federalist says, "Welcome to the ‘Assassination Culture’".

The results — particularly the death wish numbers — build on a disturbing trend line: the Democratic Party is the party of political violence. 

A survey released in April 2025 found that 55 percent of individuals identifying as left of center believed it was somewhat justifiable to assassinate Trump. The report, produced by the Network of Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) in partnership with Rutgers University’s Social Perception Lab, found a broader “assassination culture” appeared to be “emerging within segments of the U.S. public on the extreme left, with expanding targets now including figures such as Donald Trump.” 

“These attitudes are not fringe — they reflect an emergent assassination culture, grounded in far-left authoritarianism and increasingly normalized in digital discourse,” states the report, titled, “Assassination Culture: How Burning Teslas and Killing Billionaires Became a Meme Aesthetic for Political Violence.” 

Consider this: 

Following the failed attempt on Trump’s life in July 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania, a pulse poll found a third of Democrats responding agreed with this statement: “I wish Trump’s assassin hadn’t missed.” 

In the latest Center for Strategic Politics poll, 42 percent of Democrats held a negative view of the idea that “Billionaires should exist.” 

This is what democracy looks like? It’s what today’s Democratic Party looks like. 

In July, California Gov. Gavin Newsom trotted out the Democrats’ go-to campaign talking point, insisting that Trump is the “gravest threat to democracy.” 

“From Georgia to California, we must stop him,” Newsom wrote on X, where he is a very possible presidential candidate in ’28. 

To an increasing number of Democrats, stopping Trump and “saving democracy” means canceling the Constitution and silencing Trump — by any means necessary. 

Takeaway

Romans 1:32 says, "Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

Every time a Christian votes for an agenda of killing, whether it is abortion or assassination, you are "taking pleasure in what they do."

This is a time to rethink your worldview. And what you really believe in your heart.
