With the election approaching, we see a growing distrust in the system.
CBS's Leslie Stahl suggested during Sunday's 60 Minutes that the Trump administration's attempts to clean up voter rolls and purge noncitizens from them were undermining Americans' confidence in elections.
Talk show host Jason Rantz says Ken Jennings "is lying to Washingtonians about the income tax."
With your ballot probably on the kitchen table, ready to be filled out... there are some things you should know.
Be informed, not misled.
Yes, there is mistrust. And for good reason.
Via Red State.
"The distrust is there," said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon's in response to Lesley Stahl after her stinging suggestion.
Stahl was trying to argue that very few noncitizens actually vote – it's the old "it never happens" argument favored by Democrats, despite ample proof to the contrary – and questioned why the administration was making such an effort to secure the elections ahead of the midterms.
“There are people who feel that the point is to sow distrust about the whole election system. There are very few people who are noncitizens who end up voting — very, very few. And so therefore, what’s the purpose?” asked Stahl.
“The point is actually the opposite of what you’re saying,” Dhillon replied. “It’s not to sow distrust. The distrust is there.”
And it's not like Dhillon has to look very far for examples to back up her claims.
- New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill (D) acknowledged back in July that a software error had improperly added roughly 6,600 noncitizens to the state’s voter rolls, and a preliminary review found that nearly 400 of those noncitizens had actually voted. That’s a bit more than the “very, very few” line Stahl was trying to push.
- Then there’s Virginia, where Democrat Attorney General Jay Jones’ office and the Department of Elections just issued a 10-page Election Day bulletin instructing local officials on how to deal with federal law-enforcement personnel and Department of Justice monitors who show up at polling places. Among Jones' instructions: document the badge numbers, weapons, vehicles, and movements, and report their presence up the chain. Workers are even being advised to call the police.
You don't issue instructions like that if you've got nothing to hide.
So, yes, Dhillon is 100 percent correct here – the distrust is there because Democrats have put it there. And doing things like telling voters that noncitizens hardly ever vote while states like Virginia are simultaneously preparing poll workers to keep tabs on the feds doesn't exactly make the Left's denials, as argued by Stahl herself, ring true.
What is Ken Jennings thinking?
That would be the correct answer to the question if you were on Jeopardy! But we're not.
The following has been discussed on the radio and has appeared in "Seattle Red."
"Ken Jennings Is LYING to Washington Voters About the Income Tax"
Ken Jennings just spent 30 seconds on Washington TV lying to you about Initiative 645. The only fact the Jeopardy! host gets right is his own name.
The "No on 645" ad is now airing across Washington state, and the Seattle millionaire fronting it is selling Democrats' latest income tax scheme as something you should want to keep. Here's what the ad won't tell you. I-645 repeals the 9.9% tax on income above $1 million that Gov. Bob Ferguson signed into law on March 30. That tax is the foot in the door. Washington voters have rejected an income tax over and over, and Olympia Democrats know the only way to get one is to start with millionaires and work their way down to you. Jennings is the friendly face hired to make that pitch sound reasonable. On his show, wrong answers cost you money. In this ad, they cost you yours. I go through the ad claim by claim and show you where it falls apart.
If you're searching for Initiative 645, the Washington income tax, Ken Jennings No on 645 ad, Bob Ferguson income tax, Washington state ballot measures 2026, the WA millionaire tax, Washington taxes, or the Seattle Red breakdown of I-645, this is the fact check the ad buyers hoped you'd never see.
The most important point is that they have set up the initiative so that a "no" vote actually is a vote for the initiative, and a "yes" vote defeats it.
Trickery.
Takeaway.
Even if we know there are "irregularities" in our voting process, and there are, a Christian must fulfill their duty to God and vote, because voting is a gift.
Consider these Scriptures and their context:
• Proverbs 29:12 "If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked."
Context: When a leader or government official accepts deception, the entire administration beneath them becomes corrupt.
• Psalm 5:6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man."
Context: ("Leasing" means lying or falsehood.) God detests deceit, and judgment falls on those who speak lies.
• Exodus 23:1 "Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness."
Context: This forbids spreading lies or joining corrupt systems to bear false testimony.
• Proverbs 16:12 "It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness."
Context: A legitimate government or throne requires truth and righteousness, not evil or deceit.
• Proverbs 25:5 "Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness."
Context: Removing dishonest advisers and liars is necessary for a just government.
• Isaiah 10:1–2 "Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed; To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people..."
Context: God pronounces judgment upon governing authorities who abuse their power to oppress or deceive the vulnerable.
• Acts 5:29 "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."
Context: When a government commands people to go against God's truth or act unjustly, believers are instructed to obey God's higher authority.
