Yesterday, Newsweek published an article asking whether America is ready for a socialist revolution.
I sensed they hoped we were.
Newsweek noted that "Socialism used to be something we Americans picked up in our freshman dorm room and dropped right around the time HR walked us through the concept of a 401(k) match. Not so much anymore. New York has a democratic socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, and he is quite popular: Quinnipiac put his favorability at 60 percent among likely city voters in September. Membership of the Democratic Socialists of America passed 120,000 in July. The Trump administration owns a slice of Intel, a deal nobody at the White House seems eager to describe as the state seizing the means of production."
Are you ready for socialism?
Be informed, not misled.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson posted this yesterday:
This is NOT your father’s Democrat Party! The dangerous Marxist left has TAKEN IT OVER to push their anti-American policy agenda.
The choice is now clear, and even the mainstream media knows it.
Will America remain the most free, most powerful, most successful, most benevolent nation in the history of the world?
OR will we SHRED the Constitution and become the Socialist Republic of America, heading down a dark, deadly road to COMMUNISM and RUIN?
That is the future Democrats want.

Are You Ready?
Newsweek sets up its 20-question test for all of us, to test ourselves and see if we are ready.
You, dear reader, might think you know where you land on the socialist-to-capitalist spectrum. At least, I thought I did (put me down as Reluctant Capitalist, please). But is it so simple? Plenty of people who would never sit through a DSA meeting get their electricity from a utility owned by their city. Is that socialism? If you live in a planned subdivision, your HOA probably has more say over the height of your fence than the typical commissar had over a Moscow balcony. Is that free-market capitalism?
The test that follows runs 20 questions, one point per yes. A few come straight from DSA’s 2026 platform, which proposes abolishing the Senate among its more constitutionally ambitious ideas. Others concern the worn tote bag in your hall closet. They count the same, so a confession about the kind of milk you put in your coffee can push you leftward as easily as your view on the Electoral College. Tally up and consult the scale at the end. Pencils are not provided by the state.
I won't ask you to wade through the "20 questions," but #1 gives you an idea of where they take you.
"Would you take a 32-hour week if your pay stayed exactly the same?"
DSA wants 32 hours at full pay. Federal overtime has generally kicked in after 40 hours since 1940. In a 2022 British pilot, 61 companies cut hours without cutting pay; 56 continued afterward, and staff turnover fell 57 percent. The catch is that a hospital or a factory cannot simply close on Friday. A shorter week there means staggered shifts, more hiring, or both.
Back to Mike Johnson's concerns.
With smiling faces, the emerging socialists--Bernie Sanders, Momdani, A.O.C., and Obama are ready for "change"--"hope and change."
These and all the other "socialists" are standing by to remake America.
The Bible provides a framework for economic and social interaction that prioritizes individual accountability, voluntary charity, and respect for private property—principles that stand in direct contrast to the core tenets of socialism.
Central to scriptural ethics is the protection of private property, fundamentally anchored in the Ten Commandments. The divine laws “You shall not steal” and “You shall not covet” (Exodus 20:15, 17) inherently presume personal ownership. For theft or covetousness to exist, an object must belong to an individual, not the collective state. Socialism, which demands state control or redistribution of resources, compromises this principle by forcibly seizing what belongs to another.
Furthermore, the Bible emphasizes personal responsibility and work. In the New Testament, Paul writes, “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Scripture rewards individual initiative and labor, whereas state-controlled systems weaken the incentive to work by separating personal effort from its material reward.
Most importantly, Christian charity must be voluntary and heart-led. The New Testament frequently commands believers to care for the poor, but this call is explicitly directed to the individual and the church, not a secular government. Paul clarifies this in 2 Corinthians 9:7, stating, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion.” Socialism replaces this heartfelt, moral act of giving with institutional compulsion. Forced redistribution by the state lacks the virtue of Christ-like generosity, as it removes the freedom of choice.
While the Bible demands justice and compassion for the marginalized, it advocates for a system built on individual stewardship, free will, and personal accountability before God, rather than state-enforced collectivism.
Regardless of how much so-called "progressives" want socialism to be compatible with biblical Christianity, it isn't.
It never was and never should be.
Takeaway
So, are you ready for socialism?
The upcoming midterm election will go a long way toward answering that question.
America must reject socialism because the nation's foundation is built on individual liberty, private property rights, and personal responsibility rather than centralized state control.
Large-scale government intervention dampens economic growth, discourages job creators, and strips citizens of the freedom to enjoy the fruits of their hard work.
Socialism's command-style or heavily state-managed economy replaces market-driven innovation with bureaucracy, diminishes upward mobility, and contradicts the American tradition of self-reliance and community-led institutions.
- II Thessalonians 3:10: "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat."
- Exodus 20:15 ("Thou shalt not steal") and Exodus 20:17 ("Thou shalt not covet... any thing that is thy neighbor's") presuppose the legitimacy of private property. You cannot steal or covet something unless it rightfully belongs to someone else.
- 2 Corinthians 9:7 ("Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.") This emphasizes that charity must be a personal, voluntary choice rather than forced by a government or collective body.
