Today We Mourn For The 50 Million Children Aborted Since 1973

State Rep., Lynn Kessler, D-Hoquiam, is sponsoring HB 2793, which modifies parenting laws to become gender neutral.

Here's what the bill will do.

The bill changes wording in parenting legislation to become gender-neutral, such as defining father-child relationships as "parent" child relationships. It essentially removes any reference to male or female and their respective roles.

The bill clarifies that all provisions that apply for parents in a marriage, apply to those of a domestic partnership.

The bill also amends surrogate parenting laws by applying all the standards for married couples to those of domestic partnerships.

Most who read this column, knew this would be one of the many outcomes of SB 5688 and supported the effort to reject it. That law has set the stage for a fundamental cultural shift in both the way family and marriage is defined and how its function will impact our culture. It will happen slowly, incrementally, but surely.

To the person who would say, "What's the big deal, I don't support homosexual marriage, but this doesn't affect my marriage or family." I would say, "Enjoy the warm water, you are the frog in the kettle."

What should we do? I am pointing out this bill as an example of how SB 5688 will be implemented and integrated into everyday life. There will be many more of these kinds of bills to come---each merely facilitating the new law. It's effect on how marriage and family is defined cannot be overstated. It will not only impact the culture, but what your child or grandchild is taught in public school.

The most effective response, I feel, is to seriously engage in replacing lawmakers in Olympia and focusing on local matters. Secondly, focusing on those from Washington State who serve in the US Congress. For example, I believe Patty Murray can be defeated this year, if people of faith and conservatives will solidly get behind candidates who represent our core beliefs.

The Bible teaches patience as a virtue. And someone has said, "Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."

People move in and out of activism and the support for this kind of ministry ebbs and flows. To those who care, we are in this for the long haul.

Your financial support now is absolutely essential. We cannot do this without it. Our expenses are a little greater at this time, in that we are preparing a significant effort to educate the public regarding the candidates in the elections this year.

I know you understand. Thank you for your help now.
