Fiasco at PP in Everett, WA

Jonathan B. at "Abortion In Washington" reported last Friday that a woman was evacuated in an ambulance from the Everett Planned Parenthood abortion clinic and her condition was unknown.

He published a picture of the proceedings, showing Planned Parenthood staff forming a line with umbrellas and poster board to obstruct public viewing.

Jonathan reported it as, "Another eventful day at the Safe and Legal abortion center, otherwise known as the Everett Planned Parenthood ."

He said, "Sadly, I was there to witness the transport of what appeared to be a severely injured woman to a North Everett Hospital. We are still investigating as to the severity of the botched abortion and only pray it was not fatal or caused serious injuries."

I have linked his
full report here.

Saturday, Jonathan published a follow up report and a response from Christine Charbonneau, CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest (formerly Western Washington).

Ms. Charbonneau confirmed to Jonathan that the woman was indeed a patient, denied that she was deceased, as some eye witnesses had feared saying, "The patient is very much alive, stable and getting care appropriate to the situation."

This incident is both informative and tragic. And not isolated.

I have linked Jonathan's
follow-up report here.

His conclusion? "The public is unaware of just how dangerous 'Safe and Legal' abortion is."

Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Active. Be Prayerful.

  1. I wanted to know more about this so I did a search on this incident. Wow, a couple hundred hits on this one episode alone. Every anti-choice website in the country seemed to have it.

Impressive. Your communications network works very well. So, I assumed there must be reporting like this for EVERY episode where PP sends a patient to the hospital. After all, they do millions of abortions, right? And if it's so dangerous, there must be thousands of these episodes.

    So I searched.

hmmmm... There seems to be just 3 or 4 over the last few years. hmmm.... There must be more. I'll try a different search. Same results.

However, I'm not an expert. I may just be bad at searching. You claim this isn't isolated, so please share with us some history or statistics or something to back your claim.
If it truly is dangerous, I'd like to know.

Also, we have no idea why she was sent to the hospital. They say it's for observation. It might be they were overly cautious. I've certainly experienced that in medical care myself.

Lastly, you make a big thing about the shields they used. If they hadn't done that, this poor woman's picture would have plastered on every anti-choice website in the country and probably would have been in a TV ad showing how dangerous PP is. They were just being responsible in protecting her identity.

  2. The fact is neither Gary Randall, nor the anti-abortion zealots, who are so upset that they were unable to invade a medical patient's privacy, have any idea why this person was put into the ambulance. This doesn't however stop you ghouls from trying to make political hay over what you believe might have been a death. (Aren't there public records of deaths? Wouldn't a call to the coroner confirm a death? - Seems the anti-abortion zealots at AIW are more interesting in harassing PP than learning the facts - big surprise).

Also, per Gary's "source", the PP clinic in Everett performs abortions every Friday, and it appears that the anti-abortion zealots are there every Friday attempting to intimidate and photograph women exercising their legal rights. So this really begs the question: If, as Gary claims, this type of incident is not isolated, why does this appear to be the very first occurrence in Everett? Read the linked story again, in between all the wild speculation, innuendo and sickeningly elation at this event, it is clear that this is highly unusual, e.g. rare and isolated.

Silly zealots, your lies and exaggerations are not even internally consistent.

  3. To the one who searches.10:42 AM. You don't have to look far to find problems with Planned Parenthood. Our paper, the Indiana Star ran an article recently titled "A Look Behind Closed Doors" (March 10, 2011) This blog does not allow links, but the following is part of the text from the story.
"Abortion providers were thrust into the limelight for two reasons. First, a series of undercover videos showed a willingness by several Planned Parenthood facilities to turn a blind eye to sex trafficking and potential sex abuse. These videos show a shocking pattern of cover-up and a callous disregard toward the abuse of women by the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

In Indiana, similar videos were recorded over a year ago by Live Action documenting Planned Parenthood of Indiana's willingness to cover up statutory rape, offer inaccurate medical information and help guide teenagers across state lines to circumvent Indiana law.

Second, seven pro-choice employees at a reproductive health clinic in Philadelphia were arrested and charged with murder after dead newborns were found in the basement. The clinic, run by abortionist Kermit Gosnell, was described by authorities as a "house of horrors" because of the carnage found there. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Gosnell.

The worst part of the story from Philadelphia, however, was that state health officials charged with overseeing the abortion industry apparently hadn't inspected the facility since 1993, despite the deaths of two women from botched abortions."
Planned Parenthood in Indiana has done everything they can do to deflect attention away from these and other incidents. This is also mentioned in the article.
2 or 3 botched abortions over the past few years is wishful thinking on your part.
    Thanks Gary.

  4. 12:07

Changing the topic doesn't address the issue at hand, which was Gary's claim that this wasn't an isolated case of a PP patient rushed to the hospital.

If you choose to answer, answer the actual question that was asked which was for some documentation to backup Gary's claim. 10:42am

  5. Every Friday In Everett12:25 PM, March 22, 2011

I fail to find ghoulishness or extremism (zealot) in any of this post. Because Gary and others are pro-life are they extreme when they point out the flaws and failures of a pro-death abortion clinic. Is killing babies not a zealous act? Who is taking pleasure in loathsome things(ghoulishness)? Planned Parenthood practices the most laothsome human act every Friday in Everett--killing unwanted babies.

  6. @12:07

I see the anti-abortion zealots are keeping up their record of dishonesty. I found the language in the quote you claim comes from a news article to be highly opinionated and inflammatory, in fact it read like an anti-abortion groups press release regarding Lila Rose and her dishonestly edited videos (where oh where are those prosecutions for all the "illegal activity" she allegedly uncovered?), so I did a little searching. Turns out your "news article" is actually a letter to the editor submitted by one Marc Tuttle, President of Right to Life of Indianapolis (e.g. another dishonest anti-abortion zealot)

What does it say about a movement, when their actions and words from the leaders on down to the foot soldiers is rife is rank dishonesty?

God bless you Gary and God bless the pro-life folks in Everett.

A quick search shows you didn't do one.

Hmmmmmmm...You are right. There must be more. There are many, many more.
I would list them, but have to go back to work now.

  9. 1:45pm

OK, going back to 2008, you came up with 4 more than I did, counting Everett.

Since they've probably roughly done 990,000 abortions since, you've found a 'botch' rate of .000008. And that's assuming your examples are all actual errors, not something else which is actually very likely. That's a very good record!

I'm not claiming it's statistically accurate, but it's what you've demonstrated so far. If you can demonstrate a safety problem, please do, but your first attempt actually just confirmed the opposite. 10:42am

  10. 2:58
So the genocide of kids is o.k as long as the collateral damage is low. That's sick dude, shame on you!

    Craig in Lacey

  11. Craig,

Stay on topic now. Gary's post was about an alleged 'botched' abortion. He claimed it wasn't an isolated incident and that legal abortion was dangerous for the patients.

The only person to actually try to defend this position actually helped confirm the opposite.

We can discuss your genocide hyperbole another time. 2:58

  12. Abortion centers aren't regulated, so we only know about the botch jobs that somebody sees from the outside.

  13. @Mark 10:6

If these allegedly completely unregulated "abortion centers" were actually an issue, why did Gary spend the last making personal attacks against Rep. Pedersen and Sen. Murray over a bill to allow surrogates to be paid? Wouldn't the completely unregulated nature of medical facilities take precedence over this minor issue for Gary and his collaborating legislators like Swecker and Stevens?

Hmmmmm seems something here just doesn't add up. Are these clinics actually regulated? Or could it be that Gary, et all, prefer them to be unregulated as a justification for thier hysteria and invasion of patient privacy?

  14. Mark 10:6

First, regulations vary from state to state so blanket statements don't work.

Also, these centers are constantly under protest and each exit is constantly monitored. That's why the appearance of an ambulance at one center instantly appears on hundreds of right wing sites across the country. You guys aren't going to miss an opportunity to declare a fiasco.

The doctors and medical ARE licensed and regulated. You folks would be all over any malpractice accusations in a giant way.

I don't think they suffer from lack of scrutiny. 10:42am
