"If Our Faith Costs Us A TV Show, Then So Be It"

Entertainment Weekly was the first to announce that HGTV, the 7th most watched cable TV channel in the country, was "dropping their home improvement series pilot, 'Flip It Forward'."

HGTV had very quietly announced on Facebook and Twitter they had decided not to do the show.

Initially, HGTV had jumped at the opportunity to have the two siblings, David and Jason Beham, do the show which had the two brothers helping people buy homes who would have never been able to have their own home otherwise.

The Benham brothers have been very successful in buying homes, fixing them up and reselling them.

The project had progressed to where the Benham brothers have already filmed several episodes in preparation for the series.

What happened? It seemed like a perfect fit for HGTV.

Entertainment Weekly speculates that it's because "there are reports that the brothers are anti-gay, anti-choice extremists."

EW was referring to a "hit piece" attack on the Benham brothers--- and their father, by the far left anti-Christian organization "Right Wing Watch."

This is a classic battle between "good" and "evil"---Christian beliefs and those of the secular progressive far left.

You'll be interested to know more about the Benham brothers, their father and the Right Wing Watch organization---those who protect America from biblical Christians.

The Benham brothers released this statement Thursday evening after HGTV dropped the show:

Statement from Benham Brothers:
“The first and last thought on our minds as we begin and end each day is; have we shined Christ’s light today? Our faith is the fundamental calling in our lives, and the centerpiece of who we are. As Christians we are called to love our fellow man. Anyone who suggests that we hate homosexuals or people of other faiths is either misinformed or lying.
Over the last decade, we’ve sold thousands of homes with the guiding principle of producing value and breathing life into each family that has crossed our path, and we do not, nor will we ever discriminate against people who do not share our views.
We were saddened to hear HGTV’s decision. With all of the grotesque things that can be seen and heard on television today you would think there would be room for two twin brothers who are faithful to our families, committed to biblical principles, and dedicated professionals. If our faith costs us a television show then so be it.”
- David & Jason Benham

Sadly, anti-Christian activists like Right Wing Watch, who pompously demand 'tolerance" practice extreme intolerance.

David and Jason's father, Flip Benham, is a well known evangelical pastor and outspoken advocate for biblical marriage and is actively pro-life.

His two sons share his biblical beliefs and are graduates of Liberty University.

David Benham, Right Wing Watch says, led a prayer rally outside the Democratic National Convention in 2012.

They also quote him from an appearance on a Christian radio program with Janet Mefferd where he said, "We don't realize that, okay, if 87 percent of Americans are Christians and yet we have abortion on demand, we have no-fault divorce, we have pornography and perversion; we have a homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation; we have adultery; we have all of the things; we even have demonic ideologies to take our universities and our public school systems while the church sits silent and just builds big churches."

He continued, "We are so complacent, we are so apathetic and we are very hypocritical in the church, that's why the Bible says judgement begins in the house of God. So when we prayed at 714 we asked God and our city to forgive us for allowing these things in the house of God."

Right Wing Watch also took strong issue with Benham's support of a North Carolina amendment that protected traditional marriage, one that Billy Graham also publicly supported.

Todd Starnes with Fox News says, "I'm shocked that Right Wing Watch didn't document the number of times the brothers were caught eating a Chick-fil-A sandwich."

This episode is reminiscent of the Duck Dynasty conflict awhile back, the attack on Chick-fil-A last year, and a growing list of public attacks on Christians who hold biblical beliefs on life and marriage.

The Benham brothers are not strangers to competition, but when they played professional baseball, they at least played on a level playing field.

This most recent attack on biblical Christians shows that the secular progressives are more interested in pushing their sexual agenda than showing compassion which they say they practice.

They are punishing the people who would have been helped by this reality program in the name of political correctness.

Even USA Today pointed out the good this program would have done for people. They explained the story line of the show was for these two brothers to "help families buy the home they thought they could never afford."

I believe this hypocrisy is going to backfire on HGTV. Hundreds of thousands of Christians are contacting them objecting to their canceling the "Flip It Forward" show.

This is a link to HGTV website. Under the "Reason for Contacting Us," tab, select "comments." Let them know how you feel.

This story took an interesting turn late yesterday.

The Benham brothers have now announced that they are going to go ahead and honor the agreements they had made with the 6 families, based on HGTV's agreement with the brothers which they are not honoring.

The Benhams say they have Jesus, they don't need to the media.

Even though the cameras will not be rolling, they are going ahead and honoring their commitment to the families.

They said they're doing this, "Because we live from the inside out, we don't live from the outside in" we're going to honor the agreement.

They said, "We have Jesus Christ in our heart and because of that we love everyone and we also do our best to build character into our lives and the way God builds character is to go through hard tests. Hard times produce perseverance and perseverance character and character hope."

Jason Benham, when speaking about the enormous success he and his brother has had often says, "For us to take credit for building a successful business would be like a shovel taking credit for digging a hole. We're simply the tools God chose to use to build a successful business."

Right Wing Watch and their folks are celebrating their success in apparently killing a television show.

You tell me.

Who are the real winners?

And who are the losers?

Be Vigilant. Be Strong. Be Bold. Be Prayerful. Be Blessed.
