The New York Times said following the shooting in Washington DC Saturday that "We may never know the motive" of the shooter.
The Times may never know, or admit the motives, but a whole lot of journalists and other interested parties are beginning to figure out the "motive." And it's becoming pretty clear to the ordinary people across the fruited plains.
By now, you probably know that Cole Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, tried to attack the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night. He was reportedly a hotel guest. He was armed with multiple firearms and knives and sprinted past security checkpoints outside the ballroom.
If the hotel name sounds familiar, it's because President Reagan was shot while leaving the same Washington Hilton Hotel (now often called the Hilton Washington) on March 30, 1981, during an assassination attempt as he was leaving the hotel.
"We may never know the motive?" The New York Times must be kidding. Or greatly underestimating the people of this country. Or simply trying to mislead.
Here's what we know as of Sunday night.
Be informed, not misled.
Allen was stopped by police before he could enter the venue, but not after gunfire was exchanged. It led to the evacuation of President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other top Trump officials and congressional leaders from the event.
Townhall says:
The dinner was postponed due to security concerns. The good news is that no one was killed. A Secret Service agent was hit by gunfire but was saved by his bulletproof vest. Allen admitted he was targeting Trump officials. However, the media tried to play the ‘we don’t know who he was targeting’ game, which was comical. For now, the left-leaning influencers on social media are pushing the ‘it was staged’ narrative because a) they’re Trump-obsessed, b) they’re generally foolish, and c) they don’t want to be held responsible for their nonsensical, violence-promoting rhetoric that fuels these lunatics trying to assassinate government officials. That is a fact, and it’s the worst people, too. And these people will be the ones asking why this happened.
True. They are already asking.
The Left is running interference for the wannabe killer.
A brewery in Wisconsin is gushing over the assassination attempt. It is the same brewery that celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
The brewery's owner is promising free beer for every customer if Trump is assassinated.
Another post read, "Immediately after a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt blamed President Trump for 'poisoning the rhetoric' in America: 'He is a vile and disgusting man.'"
The Lincoln Project is a group of so-called Republicans that is committed to bringing down Trump.
Shannon Joy posted: "For those of you who cannot comprehend, I’ll spell it out very clearly: I think the ‘shooting’ tonight was 1000% FAKE and staged for the purposes of propagandizing the American people and accelerating political agendas. 🔥— Shannon Joy (@ShannonJoyRadio) April 26, 2026.
Don Lemon, formerly with CNN, now an independent "journalist," passed this along to his followers:
“This is not normal. The Trump regime is trying to take away press freedom. They are trying to kill the First Amendment. You have to take a stand, and if you’re in that room, you are co-signing this. You are complicit in normalizing something that should not be normal.”
From here, it goes downhill very quickly with language and death threats toward the president, which we won't quote. But you get the drift.
This assassin was acting on basic, everyday Democrat talking points. There are tens of millions just like him. People who have been radicalized by left-wing anti-Trump arguments. He believed he was a hero and acting logically and morally to kill Hitler and his enablers.
The alleged shooter was reportedly a teacher and had attended “No Kings” rallies. Allen's family had reported him to the police for making radical statements, according to a media report.
RE: the manifesto.
The New York Post reports:
Allen sent a chilling anti-President Trump manifesto to his family just before opening fire — calling himself the 'Friendly Federal Assassin” and revealing he was hell-bent on killing Trump administration officials, The Post has learned.
Allen described his “targets” as including “Administration officials (not including [FBI Director Kash] Patel)… prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest” in the unhinged missive that went out about 10 minutes before the shooting Saturday night, two US officials said.
“I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes,” Allen wrote, apparently referring to the president.
“In order to minimize casualties, I will also be using buckshot rather than slugs (less penetration through walls),” he wrote before disturbingly admitting he was willing to kill everyone in the room if it meant getting to his targets.
“I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people *chose* to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.”
Allen referred to his Christian faith several times in the document, as part of a list of “rebuttals” to imagined objections to his actions. He also made mention of hot-button political issues like the Trump administration’s strikes on Venezuelan drug boats and the detention of illegal migrants.
“Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial,” Allen wrote in the deranged document, which a relative provided to police, officials said.
Takeaway
The radicalization of young adults, especially young men, often framed as a response to perceived institutional failures and societal shifts, is driven by ideological manipulation and spiritual emptiness.
Here is a biblical perspective:
1. The Exploitation of Youthful Strength
- Glory Misdirected: "The glory of young men is their strength" (Proverbs 20:29). Radicalization often exploits this innate strength, driving it toward destruction rather than godly purpose.
- The "Simple" Youth: Proverbs 7 describes a young man "void of understanding" (or simple) who is easily enticed. He is often lonely, unoccupied, or walking into places of temptation (Proverbs 7:6-9).
2. The Influence of False Teachers and Doctrines
- Seducing Spirits: The Bible warns of "seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" (1 Timothy 4:1) that corrupt minds.
- False Prophets: Many false teachers arise and "lead many astray" (Matthew 24:11). These influencers often "creep into houses" or digital spaces, feeding on the insecure (2 Timothy 3:6).
- Strife and Vain arguing: Young men are often steered toward "foolish and unlearned questions" that generate strife, rather than godly edifying (2 Timothy 2:23-24).
3. Spiritual Causes and Vulnerabilities
- The "Strong Man" Scenario: Mark 3:27 speaks of a "strong man's house" being spoiled. If a young man's life is not filled with the Word of God, his home (life/mind) is vulnerable to being taken over by a "stronger" evil influence.
- Falling from Grace: Young men can fall into traps when they turn from being "strong" and having the Word abide in them (1 John 2:14) to embracing the "lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life" (1 John 2:16).
- Lack of Spiritual Maturity: The temptation to take the fast track to "fatherhood" (maturity) without walking the path of discipleship leads to instability, allowing them to be "tossed to and fro... by the sleight of men" (Ephesians 4:14).
4. The Role of Pride and Unjustifiable Anger
- The Way of Cain: Radicalization frequently follows "the way of Cain" (Jude 1:11), which combines jealousy, anger, and the murderous desire to eliminate those who are deemed righteous.
- Rebellion against Authority: Similar to the young men who advised Rehoboam to increase the burden, radicals often advocate for harshness, violence, and rejection of righteous counsel (1 Kings 12:10-11).
5. The Biblical Antidote
- Renewing the Mind: Romans 12:2 warns, "be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind."
- Abiding in the Word: The key to overcoming the "wicked one" is allowing the Word of God to abide in them (1 John 2:14).
- Self-Control: Titus 2:6 advises young men to " exhort to be sober-minded," resisting the emotional extremism that fuels radicalism.
In summary, the Bible indicates that young men become radicalized when they are lured away from wisdom by "evil men and seducers" who "wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived" (2 Timothy 3:13).
