Oregon Now Allows Free Sex-Change for Kids

Listen up parents and grandparents.

The policy change took place quietly last January, but parents are only now finding out about it and becoming aware that their child can receive free sex-change therapy and even medical procedures without parental knowledge---all through public education.

Parents are outraged, as they should be.

This summer, PBS has been running a documentary titled, "Growing Up Trans."

The documentary, which normalizes sex-change, is directed at kids.

Dan Springer, a Fox News reporter based in Seattle, first publicized Oregon's policy change. They are refusing to talk with him.

Here's what he has found so far.

Springer tried to speak with Oregon's Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC) but they have so far refused to talk to him.

The HERC is appointed by Oregon Governor Kate Brown, who has publicly shared she is bi-sexual, but paid by the state.

Springer has found that there was discussion on transgenderism during several HERC meetings last year, but in the January meeting there was no discussion or dissent when the policy was changed, even though the HERC had to know the impact this could potentially have on family, parental notification and parental authority.

An Oregon Health Authority spokeswoman did concede to Springer that "age of medical consent varies by state. Oregon law---which applies to both Medicade and non-Medicade Oregonians, states that the age of medical consent is 15."

The tone of her brief comments seemed, to me, to be trying to suggest this is no big deal, just government doing its job serving the citizens.

HERC is apparently fully aware of the impact of this policy on parents and families. In avoiding speaking to Springer, they even lied about the medical director's work schedule.

Under Oregon law, with this "secret" policy in place, a 15 year old can, without parental notification or approval, receive state funded sex-change medical procedures, including surgery and hormonal therapy.

Lisa Maloney, a parent and Scappoose, Oregon School Board member, is outraged.

She says, "To know that taxpayers are now on the hook for that, that a child can do that without their parent's knowledge or information or consent, parents have absolutely no say, that's appalling."

Lori Porter of Parents' Rights in Education says, "This is trespassing on the hearts, the minds, the bodies of our children."

"They're our children," she says. "And for a decision, a life altering decision like that to be done unbeknownst to parent or guardian, its mind boggling."

It is. It is also mocking God and His Creation.

And it's very uninformed science.

Indication is that the WREC justifies this transformational decision by saying it can reduce suicide among children.

Dr. Paul McHugh, who led the Johns Hopkins Psychiatry Department and still practices, says Oregon's policy amounts to child abuse. "We have a very radical and even mutilating treatment being offered to children without any evidence that the long-term outcome of this would be good," he said.

Dr. Jack Drescher, a member of the American Psychiatry Association and worked on the Sexual and Gender Identity Disorders Work Group, says, "Children age 15 may not fully understand all the consequences of the procedures they are undergoing."

Dr. McHugh says a sex change operation, especially for young people with gender dysphoria, is never appropriate.

Gender Dysphoria is classified by the APA as "a mental disorder in which a person identifies as the sex opposite of his or her birth."

In a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, it was revealed that "most children with gender dysphoria will not remain gender dysphoric after puberty."

Parents and grandparents may wonder why all the attention to something hardly discussed a generation ago.

There are several reasons.

Far left secular progressives are obsessed with fueling the current sexual revolution which destroys all traditional values including marriage, family and human sexuality, in the name of progress.

This topic is of course driven in part by high profile people who are publicly going through sex change. The media loves it because it fits their own personal agenda for the most part, and it sells newspapers, magazines and gathers TV viewers.

The media is dysphoric.

There is also a deeply committed group of public educators and public education facilitators who see Christian, biblical moral traditions as an impediment to progress, as they define progress.

Their indoctrination works daily in public classrooms across America. Those in education who disagree with the "agenda" are penalized if they speak up, so most, not all, but most are silent in their dissent, because it is very costly to be otherwise.

The content of this ideology is continually brought into our homes through television and movies under the guise of entertainment---or education.

PBS has been running a so-called documentary this summer titled, "Growing Up Trans."

Monica Cole, with One Million Moms, says, "This show is normalizing the transgender lifestyle, just making sure it is okay and using young cast members to lure a young audience."

She says at the same time Associated Press has been publishing one sided, positive reviews on the documentary.

She says TLC and other channels are also running trans-gender friendly shows for the same reasons.

Parents, today is not like it was when you grew up. Grandparents, even more so.

We must understand this.

However, the biblical way to deal with this and other similar issues remains the same.

"Train up a child in the way he should go..."

Here's how:

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength...His Words shall be in your heart."

Be an authentic biblical Christian. Then...

"You shall teach them diligently to your children, and you shall talk with them when you sit in your house, when you walk in the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates" (Deuteronomy 6: 5-9).

That chapter continues in warning parents to not forget the blessings and faithfulness of God when things are going well.

And to stand firm when things are not.

Translation: Be real Christians before your kids. Talk to them, no subject is off limits. Live a public Christian lifestyle--teach your kids what you believe and why from the Bible. Identify as "Christian."

Trust God in rearing your children. Don't give up. Don't moderate your biblical beliefs.

Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Prayerful.
