When the second grader brought home a worksheet titled, "Step 3: Understand the Concept of White Privilege," the parent started asking questions.
When prestigious George Washington University began promoting their university-sponsored "White Christian Privilege" seminar and workshops, parents began asking why they are paying about $80,000 per year to send their kids there.
Jim Wallis and his religious Left are now pushing a liberation theology to support this new form of racism.
And Americans are now asking what exactly is going on?
The sin of "White Privilege" has evolved to the sin of "White Christian Privilege," and now the movement has the Rev. Jim Wallis calling for a confession of said sins from the DC Capitol Mall on the anniversary of the death of MLK---all in the name of the Lord.
I'll come back to that.
First, the Second Grader.
A North Carolina parent is very upset after her 8-year old son was given a handout teaching him about "white privilege."
The sheet is labeled, "Step 3: To Understand the Concept of White Privilege," and lists statics showing a disproportionate number of white people in government, media, the entertainment industry and a number of other institutions, i.e., Congress-80% white, governors-96% white, current POTUS cabinet- 91% white, president and vice president- 100% white, owners of men's pro football teams-97% white. There's more.
Amber Pabon, the black parent who's son brought the work sheet home, told ABC affiliate WTVD she understands there is racism out there and the kids need to learn about it, "Because like I said, if she's teaching him the way she knows, it could be completely different from the way I know. And me being part of the black community, I know different from how the white community sees it."
This complicates the issue of racism. Is it okay for whites to teach blacks that whites are racist, but not okay for blacks to teach their own children about racism?
Is this not some form of racism itself? This appears to be the height of elitism and superiority, with public education deciding what parents may teach their children, and what teaching should be preempted by government-run schools.
The district is now saying this is not a part of the school's curriculum--- after the matter has become public---and was intended for parents not students. Then why are they handing it out to kids in the second grade?
This handout worksheet is part of a larger teaching material titled, "11 Steps to Understanding Race, Racism, and White Privilege," written by high school teacher Jon Greenberg. It has been read online by hundreds of thousands of people. You should take a look at it, especially if you have kids or grandkids in public schools.
Second, "Christian Privilege--Especially White Ones' at George Washington University
One of America's most prestigious and expensive universities waited only 4 days after Easter to hold their training session for students and faculty "that teaches that Christians---especially white ones---receive unmerited perks from institutions and systems all across the country."
The College Fix says, "Hosted by the university's Multicultural Student Services Center, the event will teach that Christians enjoy a privileged, easier life than non-Christian counterparts and that Christians possess 'built-in-advantages' today..."
The promotion says the event "aims to make people aware of the privileges that Christians have and 'what is meant by privilege overall and white privilege specifically'." Furthermore, "the event will try to educate those of the role of denial when it comes to white privilege..."
As you can imagine, other universities are looking toward duplicating the event. George Washington University has a great deal of academic influence.
But why would a university named after the first president of the United States---a white Christian---be so deeply committed to this?
The event, which took place last night, was hosted by Timothy Kane, the interim associate director for inclusion initiatives at George Washington University.
Kane, who has a master's degree in divinity and theology, explains that he is "dedicated to ensuring that all types of diversity at GW are celebrated...Being a 'proud gay member of the LGBT community'," he says, he hopes to "promote this kind of solidarity amongst the LGBT community, and work towards celebrating the richness of diversity here at GW."
One must remember the homosexual community equates ethnicity and skin color to their own sexual behavior---"born that way." Sexual behavior does not equate to ethnicity.
And he believes these events are theologically driven---thus the religious zeal in his efforts.
He also hosts, on behalf of the university, the "heterosexual privilege" and the "able-body privilege" workshops.
I'm not sure I get all these labels, but I certainly get the point.
This is nuts. Paul referred to this as "ever learning, but never coming to an understanding of the truth."
This is progressivism in moral free-fall.
This is a pathetic picture of secular progressivism on stage---in full religious costume.
This is a leap into the land of the Pharisees of Jesus' day.
Third, Jim Wallis and the So-Called Religious Left Agree.
Monday (April 4), the 50th anniversary of the death of MLK, Jim Wallis, the founder of the religious Left Sojourner social justice organization, spoke at the National Council of Churches' rally on the Washington DC Capitol Mall.
His opening remarks thanked the "courageous people at the National Council of Churches for sponsoring this special day."
The day was described as a time to "Confess to Confront Racism: Confessing the Church's Complicity in Practicing, Promoting, and Profiting from White Privilege and Racial Division."
'That," Wallis said, "brings us to the right place, especially for white churches, and I speak from that history."
He said, "Confession is telling the Truth. Telling the truth to God and the world about ourselves."
And he said, "Without confession to the sin of white racism, white supremacy, white privilege, people who call themselves white Christians will never be free---free from the bondage of a lie, a myth, an ideology, and an idol."
In their condemnation of white racism, Wallis and his cohorts are fostering a reverse form of racism.
Then Wallis said this:
White Christians, since the founding of America, have been living a lie. What does that do to your soul---to live a lie? Confession means to tell the truth---to God and to the world---so Jesus can set you free. So for Christians from white Christianity like me and many of us here, ending racism is not about helping other people who have been victims of racism---it is about our salvation and our liberation. Our souls are at stake.
Yes, our souls are at stake.
However, all of us, including the preachers, must remember that "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Eph. 2: 8-9).
Confessing our collective sins is godly, (II Chronicles 7:14), but seeking to undermine the very foundations of our country is not. Particularly when done in the name of the Lord.
Barack Obama's pastor of 20 years, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, preached a similar gospel to that of Wallis leading him to say from the pulpit, "God d_ _ _ America." And much more.
And that teaching influenced a President Obama to tour the world telling our enemies what is wrong with America. And how bad we are. This was done in the same spirit that Jim Wallis and his colleagues speak about America today.
God's blessing on America has been acknowledged from our founding. Although we are certainly not a perfect nation, we are the most prosperous and the most generous nation in the history of the world.
We are the most free nation in history. And the most blessed. Democrat President Harry Truman reminded us why: "This nation was established by men who believed in God---You will see the evidence on every hand."
Wallis will be held accountable for his words. They are deceptive, nonbiblical, and in some cases a mockery of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His blessing on this nation.
And he needs to get over his "liberation theology." And go back to the Bible.
Wallis and others on the Left need to reject so-called "collective salvation" and "liberation theology" because it isn't biblical and it leads to heresy. That belief system has led Wallis, Compolo and other religious Left leaders to "evolve" to supporting homosexual behavior and endorsing same-sex "marriage" and becoming silent about abortion---while quoting Scripture from the very Bible they are defying.
It is written, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Rom. 10: 9).
That is the only path to salvation. There is no other way to God. That is the Gospel.
The siren of the so-called religious Left is a call toward self gratification---feeling good about your own humility, and ultimately a call toward destruction.
Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Vigilant. Be Prayerful.
