Judge Blocks Trump's Asylum Policy--Opens Borders

Thousands of migrants are standing at our southern borders. Crime is rampant. Passions are high.

They want into the US, and they want in now, claiming to have "a right" to enter our country.

Yesterday we learned that a federal judge, Jon S. Tiger, a Barack Obama appointee, has blocked President Trump's asylum policy.

On this Thanksgiving week, the media is calling the migrants "modern-day Pilgrims" ---denied by a tyrant president.

Is our southern border the new Plymouth Rock? Or not? If not, why not?

In a proclamation, President Trump had said that his administration would no longer honor requests for political asylum unless migrants entered the US legally, through a port of entry.

This, of course, was an attempt to bring some order to the chaos that has defined our southern border for the past number of years.

It is well known south of our border and around the world that people routinely show up, claim fear of persecution, and experience a near-automatic release into the interior of the US.

The president had said:

I am similarly acting to suspend, for a limited period, the entry of certain aliens in order to address the problem of large numbers of aliens traveling through Mexico to enter our country unlawfully or without proper documentation. I am tailoring the suspension to channel these aliens to ports of entry, so that, if they enter the United States, they do so in an orderly and controlled manner instead of unlawfully. Under this suspension, aliens entering through the southern border, even those without proper documentation, may, consistent with this proclamation, avail themselves of our asylum system, provided that they properly present themselves for inspection at a port of entry.
But aliens who enter the United States unlawfully through the southern border in contravention of this proclamation will be ineligible to be granted asylum under the regulation promulgated by the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security that became effective earlier today. Those aliens may, however, still seek other forms of protection from persecution or torture.

The proclamation created what was possibly the most effective deterrent to illegal crossings---more so than troops deployed along the border or even a wall.

However, now Judge Tigar has issued a temporary restraining order, valid until December 19, blocking the Trump administration from implementing Trump's new policy, saying "it conflicts with existing immigration law."

This, at a time when literally thousands of illegals are trying to enter our country.

The Judge said, "Whatever the scope of the president's authority, he may not rewrite the immigration laws to impose a condition that Congress has expressly forbidden."

This from a judge who was appointed by a president who routinely used---and abused---executive authority to create immigration policy---and even to redefine marriage. Obama used DACA to compromise our borders and our sovereignty while refusing to protect DOMA in order to undermine and redefine traditional marriage in America.

The December 19 date is curious. Should President Trump reinstate his policy on December 20, the media can then tell the world, 5 days before Christmas, "There is no room at the inn" and create the illusion of migrants being turned away just like Joseph and Mary were.

The thousands of migrants storming our borders are hardly Mary and Joseph---or Pilgrims.

Mexican journalist Alex Backman has released a stunning expose on the "caravan." His eyewitness account stands in absolute contradiction to what the press and open borders advocates are telling the America people.

This is taken from his expose:

The migrants are robbing and stealing in Mexico. They carjack cars containing just one occupant. There are even accounts of rapes. Many of the migrants will not let people film them. If they see someone filming them through a car window, they stop the car and demand the phone. The reason they don’t want to be filmed is because they have criminal histories.
The organizers of the caravans include the coalition CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project, which stands for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, the American Immigration Council, the Refugee and Immigration Center for Education and Legal Services and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. At least three of the groups are funded by George Soros’ Open Society Foundation.
Exposing this is risky, because the left is fond of denying that Soros funds its ventures, labeling anyone who points out the connection as a conspiracy theorist. Kelly Johnston, a vice president at Campbell Soup, was fired after he tweeted about Soros funding the caravan.
The rocks being thrown by caravan members are not just little rocks, but large ones that can kill people. Mexican law enforcement vehicles have iron mesh over all of their windows due to the rock throwing. Unfortunately, law enforcement is armed with guns that are little more than paint guns.
The rock throwing escalated in recent days as the caravan reached Tijuana. The migrants are clashing with the locals, who are marching in the streets demanding that they leave public spaces and report to shelters. The locals yell “Go home. We don’t want you here!” Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum referred to the arrivals as “bums.” “Human rights should be reserved for righteous humans,” he said. At least three journalists were injured in fistfights and other violence. Some of the migrants refuse to stay in the shelters, comparing them to jails. Even The New York Times, admits the caravan “is already threatening a potential crisis for Tijuana and the surrounding state of Baja California.”
It is no way near over. A man within the Mexican government says there are more caravans coming from three other countries; Brazil, Columbia and Venezuela. Officials in Baja California say there are currently 9,000 migrants moving through Mexico in caravans.

President Trump recently tweeted this:
“Isn’t it ironic that large caravans of people are marching to our border wanting U.S.A. asylum because they are fearful of being in their country – yet they are proudly waving their country’s flag,” he wrote. “Can this be possible? Yes, because it is all a BIG CON, and the American taxpayer is paying for it.”

Trump has referred to the caravan as “an invasion.”

Invasion is hardly what comes to mind when we think of the Pilgrims or Mary and Joseph.

Consider this:

America was founded by people leaving the relative safety of Europe for the unknown perils of the new world, and the Pilgrims were no exception.

Yes, they were persecuted in Europe for their strong Calvinist beliefs, but they were able to live in "relative" safety. There was no safety in their destination.

It's hard to be a "refugee" claiming asylum when you're crossing an ocean to a land that's largely unsettled and is a more dangerous place than the one you are leaving. There was no refuge in their new home.

They were pioneers, not migrants.

They had no government assistance, in fact, the Pilgrims financed their passage to the new world through loans.

Today's migrants look to America to finance them once they arrive.

The Pilgrims created safe communities. The Puritans were well known for building communities defined by order, prosperity, hard work, and thrift. Crime was not tolerated and resulted in harsh sentencing.

Crime is the hallmark of today's migrant caravans.

The Pilgrims were devout Christians, coming to America to build model communities---not take from an existing community. They had an expressed desire to raise their children in that kind of environment.

The Pilgrims also had an expressed desire to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world, beginning in the new world and beyond.

William Bradford, a passenger on the Mayflower and the governor of Plymouth, said this:

"They cherished a great hope and inward zeal of laying good foundations...for the propagation of the gospel of the kingdom of Christ in the remote parts of the world, even though they should be stepping stones to others in the performance of so great a work."

For the sake of their children and for the gospel, the Pilgrims became "settlers" in a new land.

Have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Be Blessed. Be Thankful.
