Amy Coney Barrett Walks Into The Fire

Even before her name was announced Saturday by President Trump as his nominee to the Supreme Court, rioters and politicians were preparing to destroy her nomination.

Yesterday protests were held across the country, including at the Supreme Court building, opposing the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett as Ginsburg's replacement.

Biden is comparing Trump to Joseph Goebbels---the head of Nazi Germany's propaganda efforts, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are laying out the planned destruction of Barrett--all telling the radical Left in our country, "We must rise."

The battle is about abortion---the sanctity of life. Not mere politics.

I thought of Esther in the Old Testament. More about her in a moment.

Be informed, not misled.

Left-wing groups, including MoveOn, Indivisible, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and the Sunrise Movement, are launching protests at courthouses across the country to oppose the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett.

Although highly qualified, the radical left seeks to destroy her nomination. I wrote about her qualifications on Friday, suggesting that we thought she would be the nominee.

It began yesterday in Washington DC at the Supreme Court Building.

The Left is so organized, they are providing a wide range of  guidance for protesters---even a link to Planned Parenthood so visitors can donate to Planned Parenthood to "protect RGB's Legacy."

The guide says in part,

"In this moment of overlapping crises---global pandemic, mass unemployment, systemic racism, and climate change---the stakes of nominating and confirming a new Supreme Court Justice could not be higher."

The guide continues:

"Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life and as the highest court in the US, their rulings shape all our lives---everything from abortion to segregation, transgender rights, big money politics to healthcare."

And this: "It is unjust and unacceptable to try to rush through a nomination less than 40 days from the election."

A Google document includes suggested slogans such as #LetThePeopleDecide, #PeopleOverPolitics, and banners saying "Racial Justice" and "Reproductive Freedom."

The statement also says:

"With less than 40 days until  the election and voting already underway in many states, it's important that we demand all senators pledge not to move forward with any nominee until after inauguration."

Joe Biden

This weekend Joe Biden compared President Trump to Joseph Goebbels, the head of Nazi Germany's propaganda efforts.

Biden told NBC's news channel: "He's sort of like Gobbles"---"You say the lie long enough, keep repeating it, repeating it, repeating it, it becomes common knowledge."

Wednesday, MSNBC had been comparing President Trump to Adolf Hitler: "What are the differences between Adolf Hitler and Donald Trump?" they asked. "I'm not saying there's a Holocaust, but even when you look at the tactics..."

Nancy Pelosi: "Everything hangs in the balance with this nomination."

Although Pelosi has no political role in the confirmation process, she's doing her best to kill the nomination.

She says

"Everything hangs in the balance...a woman's constitutional right to make her own medical decisions about her own body, the right of LGBTQ Americans to marry who they love, the future of our planet and environmental protections, voting rights and the right of every American to have a voice in our democracy."

Pelosi says: "Trump is exploiting this vacancy against the clear and overwhelming will of the American people."

I haven't seen a national poll on this issue since the nomination Saturday, but 83% of Republicans wanted the President to do exactly what he did. I'm sure other polls will be out this week.

Sen. Chuck Schumer: "Barrett would turn back the clock on women's rights and a woman's right to choose."

Schumer, who does have a direct political role in confirming or not confirming Barrett, says she is a woman who has been "condemned by top Democrats for her Catholic faith" and will eliminate "healthcare for millions during the pandemic because of her opposition to the Affordable Care Act."

And Schumer says Amy Coney Barrett will invalidate the reproductive freedoms that millions of women hold dear, create a far-right majority on the Court, and reverse LGBTQ rights.

And the Senator says this:

"Justice Ginsburg's dying wish was that she not be replaced until a new president is installed. Republicans are poised to not only ignore her wishes, but to replace her with someone who could tear down every thing that she built."

I pray to God that he is right.

And yes, the Republicans are poised to confirm Barrett. At the moment, they have the votes.

Far Left Sen. Dick Durbin said yesterday: "There's nothing we can do." There are reasons why that may be true.

Amy's trial.

Amy Coney Barrett is walking into the fire, and she knows it. By all accounts she and her husband are deeply spiritual, biblical, Spirit-filled people. Millions of Americans are praying for her.

The panic from the Left is probably well-conceived because of Amy's commitment to the Constitution, and much of what Ginsburg and Obama's activists on the Court have done in regard to abortion, LGBTQ, and other moral cultural issues that are not found in the Constitution.

It is clear from the wailing on the Left that they believe that Amy Coney Barrett represents the end of legalized abortion in the United States.

But the focus of the radical Left is on her religious faith. That's the point of their attack.

I thought of Jesus' words in Matthew 10:16:

"Behold, I send you out as sheep into the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves."

I also thought of the trial by fire of the three Hebrew young men---where a fourth man appeared in the fire with them---and a nation was turned to God.

And I thought of the story of Esther in the Old Testament, in which a beautiful woman of faith, intellect, and godliness purposefully walked into the fire, the lion's den---call it what you want, but it will be "hell" for Mrs. Barrett in the coming weeks.

And she knew that going in.

In Esther 4:13, 14--verses that I have preached from many times as a pastor--- the Bible says:

"And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: 'Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king's palace any more than all the other Jews. For if you remain completely silent at this time relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet, who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

Esther's response (v 15,16) was, "I'm going to do this"--"and if I perish, I perish."

The issue in both cases was genocide.

The purposeful killing of Jews in Esther's case.

The purposeful killing of unwanted babies in this case.

Pray for Amy Coney Barrett. Pray for her family. Pray for the President.

Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Vote.
