40% at the Border: The Real COVID Crisis

Officials are reporting this week that they are finding 40% of the illegal immigrants being bused to cities in Texas and elsewhere are now COVID positive.

Four in ten. 40%.

Up from 20% last week.

Yet, CNN is excoriating conservatives for even pointing out the crisis at the border, while President Biden and Vice President Harris---who was once tasked with fixing the border problem--are avoiding it like the plague.

This while progressives are yelling at Texas for not imposing enough COVID restrictions.

And Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has been posting fake pictures of the overwhelming grief she experienced when she visited the border.

There's certainly a crisis, but is COVID causing it or exposing it?

Be informed, not misled.

Townhall reports:

"At the risk of angering a CNN anchor who has excoriated conservatives for noticing the intersection of the border and the COVID crisis in Texas, the city of Laredo is fueling this 'demonization' with additional facts. Officials now say that the jurisdiction has turned away buses filled with migrants after discovering that approximately four in ten have tested positive for COVID. The unmitigated mess at the border is a caricature of failed 'progressive' governance."

Indeed it is.

Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz says that the "percentage is very high." Laredo health authority Dr. Victor Trevino confirmed the numbers as the highest they have seen, noting that last week's numbers were at 15% in McAllen, TX. However, later it was reported they were at 20%---now 40%.

In response, local officials have contracted bus companies to transport migrants arriving from the Rio Grande Valley to larger cities across the state. By not admitting migrants on the McAllen buses, the city is not required to test them for the coronavirus and could forward the migrants elsewhere.

Progressives are screaming at Texas for not imposing enough COVID mandates, even though various mitigation and vaccination efforts are underway in Texas.

I'm not suggesting that the border crisis is solely responsible for the current spike in Covid cases in the US, but it's certainly a part of it.

What I am highlighting is the naked hypocrisy and the failing policies of the Left---so-called progressives--- that the COVID crisis is revealing.

Hypocrisy

Not long ago "progressive" politicians were lining up to share their grief and anguish over the conditions at the border---how deeply troubled they were over the plight of the undocumented migrants---for the most part blaming Trump.

The pictures of the politicians expressing their concerns began appearing on social media only minutes after they arrived at their chosen border location. Strong words and impassioned speeches followed for the cameras that had been in place for the public servants.

One "servant" was particularly moved with anguish and deep emotion.

Crocodile tears?

Fox News says,

"Previously unpublished pictures of Ocasio-Cortez in tears near a border detention facility in Tornillo, Texas came to light earlier this year when a photographer, Ivan Aguirre, posted them on his Twitter account. Observers quickly noted that Aguirre only posted photos of Ocasio-Cortez crying, without clearly showing what she was looking at, and, after other photos came to light, it appeared there wasn't much in front of her."

Greg Re, producer of the Tucker Carlson Show on Fox and who also wrote the story, says it appeared that Ocasio-Cortez was crying for a photo op outside in a parking lot.

Left wing Politifact immediately jumped to her defense, claiming that was unequivocally "false," she was not crying in front of a parking lot.

Rather she was standing on a vacant road that led to the camp where the detained migrants actually were.

Following Politifact's "explanation." photos began appearing---one showed Ocasio-Cortez staring at an empty road, with the facility far off in the distance.

PJ Media's Jim Treacher tweeted, "Was weeping over an empty road, not a parking lot."

The Congresswoman said of the photos that she would "never forget this because it was the moment I saw with my own eyes that the America I love was becoming a nation that steals refugee children from their parents, & caged them. More kids die after this. To date, no one has been held accountable. We need to save these kids."

There's much more information in the link to this story. You can decide if the camera or the kids invoked her weeping and sorrow.

A reality check.

Our culture is drowning in deception.

This week our elected officials, including 19 Republicans, passed Biden's $1.2 trillion "infrastructure package" in the Senate. It's all but sure to pass in the House next month when the public servants go back to work.

A new Rasmussen Reports survey found that 51% of likely US voters agree with Republican Sen. John Kennedy's statement:

"They told us it was a real infrastructure bill. It's not. Only 23% of the bill is real infrastructure. The rest is New Green Deal and welfare. They told us the bill was paid for. It isn't. We're going to have to borrow maybe up to $400 billion to pay for it."

Earlier his week, Rasmussen found that only 35% of likely voters think the country is heading in the right direction.

How did America get to this point?

Charles Finney, a 39-year-old lawyer, noticed so many Scripture references in Blackstone's Law Commentaries that he bought a Bible. On October 10, 1821, he decided to head into the woods, read his newly purchased Bible, claiming: "I will give my heart to God, or I will never come down from there."

After several hours, he returned to his office, a changed man. He began presenting the Gospel with a convincing lawyer's argument.

Soon he began crusades. They grew. In fact, it was Charles Finney who began the tradition of an "altar call" in his 1830 revival in Rochester, New York. Later, the altar call would be carried on by Dwight L. Moody, Billy Sunday, and Billy Graham.

Rev. Charles Finney inspired, informed, and assisted people all across this continent. And elsewhere.

His 1835 "Revival Lectures" inspired George Williams to found the YMCA in 1844. Finny inspired William and Catherine Booth to found what we know as The Salvation Army in 1865.

In his article, "The Decay of Conscience," he wrote: "Christ crucified for the sins of the world is the Christ that people need. Let us rid ourselves...of neglecting to preach the law of God until the consciences of men are asleep."

Continuing he said this:

"If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours to a great degree."

"If there is decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible."

"If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it.

"If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it."

"If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it.

"If Satan rules the halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it."

"If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it."

"Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren; but let us lay it to heart, and thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation."

May God give us ears to hear.
