Biden's Healthcare Malaise

VP Harris reminded us last week of just how dysfunctional this administration is by resurrecting the word "malaise"---one forever associated with the Jimmy Carter administration---until now. She did so in the context of telling the nation that Jan. 6, will live on in infamy just like Dec. 7, 1941, and 9-11, 2001.

The New York Post has published several articles recently alerting the country to the Biden healthcare "malaise."

The Post says, "If you're white and middle class, the push for healthcare 'equity' could kill you."

A group of Oregon physicians has been pressing for a patient's home address to be used as well as their medical conditions in deciding whether or not they receive scarce medical treatment---this on behalf of  the virtue of "equity."

Far-left Obama appointee, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, compared human beings to machines last week while advocating for Biden's vaccine mandate.

Euthanasia in the name of equity?

How did the world's best medical system sink to this point?

Be informed, not misled.

The race toward a race-based culture.

MLK would be profoundly disappointed. He dreamed of a better day.

The New York Post says:

"Prominent medical organizations and the Biden administration are pushing for rules that will move 'disadvantaged' populations to the front of the line for scarce medical resources--think vaccines, ventilators, monoclonal antibody treatments. That means everyone else waits longer, in some cases too long."

"If the public doesn't push back soon," they say, "getting fair treatment in the hospital will become as  hard as getting into college or getting hired on your own merits." Rather than the color of your skin.

They report how this is already in play in New York City regarding how they have prioritized covid testing on Staten Island using ethnicity.

And the Post notes, "Meanwhile the state's Department of Health announced that scarce monoclonal antibody treatments will be allocated to patients based on the basis of age, vaccine status, medical conditions and, you guessed it, non-white race or Hispanic/Latino ethnicity."

The Post's Editorial Board says, "Call it what it is: racist."

This is not happening only in New York.

As the nation prepared to roll out vaccines in the fall of 2020, the CDC called on states to submit their distribution plans. On September 16, 2020, the agency urged them to prioritize disadvantaged groups, including "people from racial and ethnic minority groups" for vaccine supplies and appointments instead of spreading the resources equally.

Thirty-four states complied.

Dr. Joel Zinberg, an associate clinical professor of surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Manhatten, says "New York's 'risk factor' for COVID treatment is illegal and immoral."

What happened to the Hippocratic Oath?

CDC has what they call the "Social Vulnerability Index" which ranks every US neighborhood on 15 factors including density, income, race, and language. If two areas are similar in most factors, the one with a higher minority or non-English speaking population gets the higher scores and more resources.

North Carolina requested that local officials reserve 40% of daily vaccine appointments for historically marginalized populations.

University of Pennsylvania medical professors are urging medical officials to "universalize" these preferences.

The University of Pittsburgh has adopted a plan for triaging critically ill patients when beds run low.

The criteria? Patients get a score based on the likelihood of their survival, considering their organ function and other illnesses. But instead of allocating critical care based on the chances of survival, Pitt has now added a "correction factor" based on the patient's zip-code. Patients from more disadvantaged neighborhoods will get their scores increased, leapfrogging ahead of others with the same medical conditions.

Meanwhile, a group of Oregon physicians has been pressing the Oregon Health Authority to adopt a triage scheme similar to Pitt's, considering a patient's home address as well as medical conditions.

Oregon Public Broadcasting has published a lengthy article trying to, in my opinion, make this something other than what it is to the public. I encourage you to read the article, particularly if you live in Oregon.

Doctors at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston are pushing for, what they are calling a "reparations framework," to offset discrimination in access in the past.

These kinds of schemes violate the Hippocratic Oath, which commits a physician to do everything possible for the individual patient, not withhold care for the sake of social justice and other so-called progressive ideologies.

While pushing white adults to the back of the line, they're pushing little kids of all colors to the front of the line.

The Biden administration is continuing to push mass vaccination for children, despite the fact that 0.00-0.02% of child coronavirus cases result in death.

Friday, President Biden said, "The FDA has now authorized booster shots for children ages 12-15. Vaccinating our children is the best way to protect them from the Omicron variant."

For weeks the Biden people have continued to push parents to get their children vaccinated for the Chinese virus. They have even colluded with Sesame Street as part of a greater effort to get vaccines into the arms of kids. Sesame Street characters have participated with the Biden administration and CNN encouraging kids and parents to get the kids vaxxed. President Biden even praised Big Bird publicly for getting the shot.

This, in spite of the fact that data from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) December 30, 2021, concluded that the coronavirus mortality rate among children "remains extremely low."

Despite what "science" says, Biden is continuing to overwhelmingly advocate vaccines for children as young as five.

Dutifully, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said last week that studies are ongoing about vaccinating children ages six months to five years.

Walensky added that "Likely, the clinical trials are ongoing in individuals less than five years [old]. Hopefully, in the first half---hopefully towards the earlier part of the first half, we may have some information so that we can vaccinate children of that age."

What is man?

In Psalm 8:4 the Psalmist asks the eternal question: "What is man...?"

Obama appointee Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor made one of the most uninformed comments I think I've ever heard regarding "mankind" on Friday in her comments in favor of allowing President Biden's vaccine mandates to stand.

Justice Sotomayor said on the record during the Biden mandate hearing, "Why is a human being not like a machine if it's spewing a virus, blood-borne viruses?"

She also said, "We have over 100,000 children, which we've never had before, in serious condition and many on ventilators" due to coronavirus.

Even the left-leaning Politifact had to call on that lie. The correct number is about 3000, not 100,000.

Sotomayor is an example of where progressivism takes a person with a secular worldview.

And her remarks, intended to help advance President Biden's agenda, reveal much about her--- the former Harvard professor and close Obama confidant's beliefs.

"Quality of life" is no longer an evaluation of one's standard of living. It is becoming the criteria for life and death decisions.

Have you noticed that quantitative statements about life are used more and more by the medical community, then echoed into your home and phone by the news media.

Public topics of conversation about such things are increasingly used to change the mind of the public: "Will a child born with Down syndrome enjoy a meaningful life?" "Do the mother's concerns represent a prevailing interest?" "Is the patient in a persistent vegetative state?"

Secular progressives who hold a secular worldview measure the "quality" of human life in terms of enjoyment. The measure of life to these folks has to do with pleasure, prosperity, position, and opinion.

If life doesn't measure up to these criteria, it isn't a life worth living in their opinion. So those in power are quick to make life and death decisions on that basis.

God teaches that all life is His gift, regardless of  "quality." We call it the sanctity of life.

Jesus died for "all"---therefore every life has a right to live---thus the Hippocratic Oath for doctors, because life is sanctified.

God has given all of us equal access to His saving grace and redemption through His only begotten Son. He has also given all humans the power of choice, therefore God is not the author of  "equity" or equal outcome, rather He is the author of equality.

The secular left isn't seeking equality or equity, in my opinion. They seek power first and foremost.

In Genesis 9:6 the equally high value of all human life was expressed with these words, "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man."

Sadly, we are at the cultural threshold of attempting to become "as God."

That didn't end well for Eve, and it won't end well for us.

This is why we must stand firm on God's Word and His principles and His values. And we must fight to keep those values and principles in their rightful place in our culture.
