As we approach the 4th of July and our national celebration of the God given freedoms we have in this country, it is also a time to reflect on why we have those freedoms and from whom those freedoms come.
History is clear. The principles of our Judeo-Christian heritage are the foundation of our freedoms.
President George Washington said, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."
Many years later, President Dwight Eisenhower said, "The purpose of a devout and united people was set forth in the pages of the Bible...(1) to live in freedom, (2) to work in a prosperous land...and (3) to obey the commandments of God...This biblical story of the promised land inspired the Founders of America. It continues to inspire us."
And no one needs and deserves inspiration more than our troops who serve around the world so we can continue to enjoy freedom and prosperity.
One of the most meaningful and inspiring acts we can do is to remember our troops during this time of celebration.
We at Faith and Freedom feel led to send personal, digital Bibles to as many troops as possible this 4th of July.
There is a ministry, "Faith Comes By Hearing," that has developed small pocket size digital Bibles and are supplying them to chaplains and troops. They are called "BibleSticks" and contain the complete Bible.
So far they have distributed about 250,000 BibleSticks at no cost to the troops and chaplains.
Each unit costs them $25 to manufacture and ship.
I talked with the folks at the ministry yesterday and told them Faith and Freedom will be sending them a check to send more BibleSticks to our military.
I will be sending the check on Monday, July 9.
We have increased expenses right now due to specific media actions we are taking in defense of marriage in Washington State, however, we feel strongly led to contribute to this very worthy endeavor.
Would you consider contributing the amount for one or more digital Bibles for the troops? Be sure to get it in by July 9 and your amount will be included with our check.
Thank you and God bless you. And God bless those who serve to protect and preserve our freedom.
Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Active. Be Blessed.
