The Pundit's Problem with Dr. Carson

The pundits and kingmaker consultants have struggled to politically "catalog" Dr. Ben Carson from the beginning of his political campaign, because he isn't political.

GOP operatives told CNN yesterday morning they are pushing Dr. Carson to drop out of the race, to clear a better path for Marco Rubio. And if he would, they would offer him Rubio's senate seat.

CNN said, "It's unclear how receptive the retired neurosurgeon will be to their plan."

I can tell you exactly how Dr. Carson will respond to their plan.

Yesterday Morning.

CNN says, "Sen. Marco Rubio, who's seat is up, has said he will not seek re-election." And the GOP operatives are telling Carson he can have Rubio's seat if he will drop out of the race.

It's probably just me---but wouldn't the people of Florida have something to say about who gets the seat?

But, CNN observes, "Carson shows no signs of getting out of the race."

Carson's favorability ratings are sky high with the American people---we really like the doctor---however, he has not done well in the primary elections thus far, and has very few delegates.

Carson said, "Millions of Americans plead with me to continue---they want to have a choice and a representative voice to ensure people of faith are not marginalized and integrity is restored to leadership, with a focus on common sense solutions to the myriad problems we face as a nation. They know I am a citizen candidate, not a politician, who won't do what is expedient, but what is right."

That's my point.

It's difficult for the pundits and kingmaker consultants to understand that what is "expedient" is not always "right."

The end does not justify the means.

I can tell you exactly what Dr. Carson will do. He will do what he feels God is leading him to do. That's who he is. That's why he is loved and admired by so many. And he will do what he believes is best for America.

Carson said yesterday morning, "As long as we continue to receive their support, and the Lord keeps opening the doors, I will remain in this presidential race."

He added--"God answers prayer."

Those close to Dr. Carson have told him there is no political path to victory for him going forward in this presidential race following Tuesday's primaries.

He has said he will pray about it.

Late Yesterday Afternoon.

The Hill first reported that Dr. Ben Carson had released a statement regarding his presidential campaign.

This is the text of the statement:
I have decided not to attend the Fox News GOP Presidential Debate tomorrow night in Detroit. Even though I will not be in my hometown of Detroit on Thursday, I remain deeply committed to my home nation, America. I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results. However, this grassroots movement on behalf of “We the People” will continue. Along with millions of patriots who have supported my campaign for President, I remain committed to Saving America for Future Generations. We must not depart from our goals to restore what God and our Founders intended for this exceptional nation.
I appreciate the support, financial and otherwise, from all corners of America. Gratefully, my campaign decisions are not constrained by finances; rather by what is in the best interests of the American people.
I will discuss more about the future of this movement during my speech on Friday at CPAC in Washington, D.C.

So Dr. Carson will not be on the debate stage tonight in Detroit. He will make a further statement at the CPAC meeting tomorrow concerning his candidacy.

I would assume he will drop out, or, as they say, "suspend" his presidential campaign. We'll see.

One thing is certain---he will be at peace with his decision because he is at peace with God

And I doubt that the urging of the kingmakers, the promise of a senate seat or any other enticement has played much of a role in his decision.

Dr. Ben Carson is a class act.

You may be interested to know a film of Ben Carson's life was made a few years ago. The film titled, "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story" will air this Sunday, March 6, on the Hallmark channel at 9 PM eastern time.

I have not seen it but plan to this Sunday.

And finally, Later Yesterday Afternoon.

Mitt Romney came out late yesterday afternoon with a press release saying he will be making an important announcement today.

Romney has been laser focused on undermining Donald Trump's presidential campaign. Most agree Romney's statements will have something to do with that.

However, Rush Limbaugh suggested yesterday that the GOP may be sending Mitt Romney "out there to ring the warning bell---but of all people to send out this warning" to dump Trump. Limbaugh thinks they should have chosen someone else.

Limbaugh said he believes there is a possibility that Mitt Romney may enter the presidential race and get on the California primary ballot. Then having been in the contest as a candidate, the GOP would unite and coalesce around Romney, taking the nomination from either Trump or Cruz.

He says, "There are some in the Republican Party to whom that is the solution."

It's time for biblical Christians to pray. Fast and pray. God will lead you in how you vote, and He will lead us as we seek His will for our country.

Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful.
