During his campaign, Donald Trump made a number of promises to the American people, that he believed would turn the country in the right direction. America voted. Trump is president.
Recent polls consistently show that 62% of all Americans believe he is keeping his promises, and 59% believe he is a strong leader.
One of those promises was to "drain the swamp" of corruption in DC.
While most true conservatives and biblical Christians rejoice, not everyone is celebrating the fact that he is "keeping his promises" and that he is "a strong leader."
The swamp is rising against the president's efforts.
It has been said, "These are the best of times...these are the worst of times."
The tale of these two entities, DC and real America, is now focused on "former" Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
What really happened? And why?
But first, President Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday.
Here are some highlights of their meeting.
- President Trump says the US is looking at moving the embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
- President Trump asked Prime Minister Netanyahu to hold back on settlements in disputed territory.
- Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu praised President Trump for the clarity on "radical Islamic terrorism."
National Security Advisor to the President, Michael Flynn is suddenly gone. The explanations are many.
Mike Huckabee sent this out yesterday:
Dear Gary
After the forced resignation of Gen. Michael Flynn, it’s still not clear whether he even did anything wrong in his phone call to a Russian representative (it was already investigated and cleared). But there’s general agreement that he wasn’t forthcoming to his bosses about the content of the call, and that created a breach of trust that can’t be tolerated. So he’s gone, and the left is giddy that they’ve torpedoed one of Trump’s chosen advisers, and they’re jazzed to attack some more.
But now the story has taken a very different twist. The focus in Congress and some media outlets has shifted from Trump and Flynn to the question of just who leaked information about this phone call and why. It’s long been rumored that there are entrenched elements of the intelligence agencies and holdover Obama appointees who are dead-set against the kind of reforms Trump was elected to enact, and this could be the first sign that they are willing to do anything – including expose top secret information – if it cripples the Trump Administration. The suspects include those who helped broker the Iran nuclear deal and are desperate to preserve it, since Flynn was one of its chief critics.
Some alleged conservatives from the diehard NeverTrump movement are actually praising this possible turn of events. I honestly don’t understand how anyone who claims to believe in American values could condone government power being wielded by a cabal of unelected bureaucrats and shadowy intelligence operatives who would release classified information in an attempt to undermine a duly-elected President. This incident is more than just a setback for Trump’s national security reforms. It’s also a warning shot that if he really wants to drain the swamp in Washington, he might first need to get rid of the alligators in his own basement before they eat him alive first.
Sincerely,
Mike Huckabee
Fox News reported yesterday that FBI agents interviewed Flynn after a Jan. 23rd press conference in which White House Press Sec. Sean Spicer told reporters that Flynn did not discuss the matter of Russian sanctions with Russia's ambassador.
According to Fox, The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources, said intelligence officials had already intercepted conversations in which they [Flynn and the Russians] discussed sanctions.
Vice President Mike Pence, as you know, was misled in the matter and was told by Flynn there was no such conversations. On Flynn's word, VP Pence told the national media "there were no conversations about sanctions."
I'm told Pence, a man known for his personal integrity, was very unhappy and felt used when the truth came out.
Yesterday Rush Limbaugh, on his radio program, raised questions not about Trump, but about Obama.
He said the media is already asking what did Trump know and when did he know it? But the question is, according to Limbaugh, "What did Obama know and when did he know it, and what has he engineered here?"
He said this all happened with Flynn back in December. Trump had not even been inaugurated yet.
Limbaugh then said this: "In September 2011, Mike Flynn was promoted to lieutenant general assigned to the office of Director of National Office by Barack Obama. On April 17, 2012, President Barack Obama nominated Michael Flynn to be the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency."
Rush continues--"The Defense Department has its own intel operation and he ran it, as opposed to Central Intelligence Agency. Its called the DIA, and it's big, and it's relevant, and it's important, and it does great work, and Flynn ran it after having been promoted to lead it by Obama in 2012. He took command of the DIA in July of 2012. He is a member of the Democratic Party, according to Wikipedia. Michael Flynn is a member of the Democrat Party."
A couple of thoughts. Wouldn't Flynn have known every communication with Russia and other countries is monitored? Of course he would have known.
Was Flynn setting up Trump?
And surely President Obama, or at least those close to him, would have been very aware of this, because Flynn has been very outspoken in his support of Trump---even during the primary election.
If it is so important now, why didn't President Obama raise the issue earlier?
While nearly all the media is focused on this story---conservative and the far Left progressives---and they each have a different point of view, the Washington Free Beacon has done excellent research on the matter.
The Beacon has published several articles on this episode.
They said yesterday that Flynn's abrupt resignation "is the culmination of a secret, months-long campaign by former Obama administration confidantes to handicap President Donald Trump's national security apparatus and preserve the nuclear deal with Iran, according to multiple sources in and out of the White House."
The Beacon says with some certainty, "The operation primarily focused on discrediting Flynn, an opponent of the Iran nuclear deal, in order to handicap the Trump administration's efforts to disclose secret details of the nuclear deal with Iran that had been long hidden by the Obama administration."
They quote a veteran national security advisor with close ties to the White House: "It's undeniable that the campaign to discredit Flynn was well underway before Inauguration Day, with a very troublesome and politicized series of leaks designed to undermine him."
Another source, which the Beacon says they will not disclose, confirmed the story telling them: "The Obama administration knew that Flynn was going to release the secret documents around the deal"... and "So in December, the Obama NSC started going to work with their favorite reporters, selectively leaking damaging and incomplete information."
The Beacon says Flynn's "resignation was their first major win, but unless the Trump people get serious about cleaning house, it won't be the last."
No one knows exactly what happened---or what will happen in regard to this matter.
We do know that the swamp that clearly needs to be drained, is rising.
And we know that a house built on the rock will stand the forces of destruction.
The house built on the sand, will not.
Matthew, 12:25: “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”
Quoting Jesus, Abraham Lincoln said, "I do not expect the Union to be dissolved---I do not expect the house to fall---but I do expect it will cease to be divided."
One worldview will ultimately prevail in America---one that embraces the Judeo-Christian values and principles our Founding Fathers embraced. Or one that embraces a "living" evolving Constitution and a kind of progressivism that denies absolute Truth, and ultimately denies reality itself.
Be Prayerful. Be Informed. Be Discerning. Be Strong.
