Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AUSCS) has just chosen Rachel K. Laser---a flaming abortion rights, LGBTQ rights, and anti-conservative Christian activist to lead their organization.
Laser was chosen to lead the "escalation" of war because of her past successes.
More money is promised to carry out the mission.
Be informed.
The Board of Trustees of Americans United for Separation of Church and State has announced that Rachel K. Laser, an attorney with "extensive experience," has been named the organization's new executive director.
What "extensive experience" has Rachel had?
She has worked for Planned Parenthood, the National Women's Law Center, Third Way, and the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.
Laser, the first Jewish leader of the 71-year-old AUSCS organization, says Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is her role model.
The Rev. Dr. Neal Jones, president of AUSCS's board and a Unitarian Universalist pastor, says during his interview with her, "it became apparent that Rachel is the dynamic and visionary leader that Americans United need right now..."
Laser says, "This is an exciting and critical time to assume leadership of Americans United...The separation of religion and government is under attack," but she is confident they can turn it around.
Chairman and pastor Dr. Jones says, "In my lifetime, I don't think I've experienced such an overall assault on the freedom of religion and conscience as I have since the election of Donald Trump."
He says, "It seems the ploy by the religious right these days is to use freedom of religion-- in quotes--as an excuse to violate people's civil rights. We're looking for a leader who is up to the fight, understands the issues and has fire in the belly to carry on the banner of separation."
Obviously, their mission is war, not so-called "dialog" or "conversation."
And they believe their highly informed, Harvard educated flaming activist and newly named leader can win the war.
Let's take a quick closer look at the "war" as they see it.
- Initially AUSCS was founded in opposition to Catholics, however, it has evolved over the years to become a strong ant-Christian organization, defending atheists and religious minorities against America's traditionally Christian culture.
- Over the years they have consistently "opposed" school choice for religious parents, conscientious exemption for believers to opt out of government mandated programs and the freedom of conservative citizens to abstain from advocacy for activities they see as immoral---such as so-called same-sex "marriage."
- In 2014 they launched a campaign against a war memorial in Columbia, Missouri that honored 2 local veterans who had been killed in Operation Desert Storm---both Christians. The memorial featured the Christian symbol of a fish, the "ichthys." AUSCS prevailed against the Christian parents and the city and the memorial was replaced with a "non-Christian" memorial.
- The AUSCS has also defended the Satanic Temple, threatening to sue the state of Florida if Satanists were not allowed to place their Satanic display beside a Christian Nativity scene.
On the contrary...
USCS stood against Hobby Lobby when the Christian owned organization was awarded an injunction in 2013, exempting them from paying for abortion-inducing drugs that violated their beliefs.
Barry Lynn, ex. director at the time, told the press, "This isn't religious freedom; it's the worst kind of religious oppression."
When Michelle Boorstein, a journalist for the Washington Post, heard the announcement of Laser's hiring, she tweeted, "Religious conservatives have totally dominated and defined the debate about religious freedom and what should constitute church-state relations. This woman is on a mission to change that."
Boorstein not only speaks for herself but her newspaper, most other journalists and their newspapers and the angry anti-Christian Left in general.
The tipping point, they say, was President Trump's Religious Freedom Day speech, on January 16, 2018, where he pledged his ongoing defense of Religious Liberty. Ironically he pledged his support of religious freedom for "all" religions, not just Christianity.
It's revealing how that exposes these separation folks from what they say and what they actually do.
President Trump said, "No American---whether a nun, nurse, baker, or business owner---should be forced to choose between the tenets of their faith or adherence to the law."
And he stated that the American Founders "seeking refuge from religious persecution, believed in the eternal truth that freedom is not a gift from government, but a sacred right from Almighty God."
The Universalist Unitarian pastor and chairman of the organization says that "despite President Trump's ostensible support for religious freedom, he is actually the enemy."
Ms. Laser will now proceed, with the undying support of the press and large infusions of money from like-minded comrades, to reverse the narrative on religious freedom to cast conservative Christians as oppressors of the LGBTQ movement, the Satanic Temple, and the general public when we display our symbols of fish and nativities. And there will be newly energized opposition to "proselytizing" when we share our personal faith in Jesus Christ with someone desperately in need of spiritual help.
This is concerning.
Even more concerning would be the possibility of Ms. Laser and her cohorts winning the war and never needing to fire a shot.
The press and her religious Left colleagues believe Laser is "on a mission," "up to the war," and she has "fire in the belly."
This is a battle we must not sit out---and be "authentic" while we remain silent.
This is a "choose you this day whom you will serve" moment. I pray we rise and heed the call.
Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Bold.
