Facebook followed an all too familiar pattern this Independence Day.
They deleted a portion of the Declaration in the spirit of "protecting the masses" from offensive "hate speech."
The newspaper that posted the Declaration objected, and more than a few citizens also got mad because they don't want Facebook to "protect them."
Facebook apologized, but they'll do it again because most of us know it's not about protecting us little incapable people, it's about pushing and practicing a far Left secular Progressive, anti-American ideology.
There is growing evidence that people in general, younger people in particular, are getting sick and tired of the charades of the Left and are even walking away from the Democratic party.
The Liberty County Vindicator newspaper had been uploading the Declaration of Independence in parts to their Facebook page, only to have the last part removed by the crew at Facebook.
Facebook is a problem.
The offending passage of the Declaration reads as follows:“He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
“He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.
“He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
“He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
“He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.”
After many complaints and strong pushback from the paper that has been publishing continuously since 1887, and the public that is becoming more and more fed up with the so-called progressive Left, Facebook apologized and re-posted the text they had censored.
Recently Facebook shut down a support group for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, claiming the page violated their "community guidelines."
This Faith and Freedom Daily article which I have been publishing since 2004 has, in the past year, become a regular target of Facebook. They consistently censure articles published here on this site.
Social media is a problem, but it's not "the" problem.
Recently Reuters News Service, a Left-leaning global news service, conducted a survey in America of 16,000 registered voters between 18 and 34 years old.
They found that "Young white Americans are fleeing the Democratic Party en masse following the election of President Donald Trump."
In 2016, young white Americans favored Democrats over Republicans by a 47 to 33 percent margin. Since Trump's election---and his booming economy which has secured high paying jobs and record job opportunities---young white Americans favoritism for Democrats has disappeared.
Today, 39% of young white Americans say they favor Republicans, while another 39% continue, for now, with the Democrats.
Overall, the poll revealed that Democrats are losing young Americans in general. For example, before Trump's election, 55% of young Americans said they favored Democrats over Republicans.
Today, that margin is down to only 46% of young Americans who are still loyal to Democrats.
Yesterday, in his "4th of July" message, Tom Perez, Chairman of the Democratic Party, said this:
“As we celebrate our nation’s independence, we recognize that America’s founding promise remains out of reach for too many families. Too many members of our society are still struggling to find a good-paying job or get the health care they need. Too many women, LGBTQ Americans, people of color, and people with disabilities still face inequality and injustice across our society,”
Note that Perez's statement came one day after he said that socialist candidates like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were "the future of the Party."
Also, note the Chair of the Republican Party statement:
This is a snapshot of the political climate in America today. Politically, people---young and old---are re-thinking their political alliances.
If the Republican Party embraces its published Platform and the conservative policies of this president, these trends will continue.
The GOP is gaining ground, while the Democrats are loosing--But it's not ultimately about politics.
Behind these political trends is a growing consensus that America is about to experience another "Great Awakening." A spiritual awakening.
I realize people of different theological leanings read this daily column. And I respect that. I am also fully aware that leaders from different theological positions see some things differently because of those theological positions.
However, leaders from the Charismatic, Baptist and evangelical Christian groups in America are all talking about a third great awakening in America.
I won't summarize the following, but strongly suggest you take a few moments and read these 3 articles, which reflect hundreds more that echo the same anticipation.
1. CBN--700 Club interview with a Charismatic author, evangelist, and pastor regarding a "Third Great Awakening."
2. Pastor Bill Stevens, writing for the Baptist Standard, believes another great awakening is entirely possible, "if." He reviews several steps the church must take internally but remains optimistic national spiritual revival is coming.
3. Evangelical youth evangelist, founder, and CEO of Dare 2 Share Ministries, Greg Stier says, "The more I've looked to the past, the more I'm encouraged about the future. As a matter of fact, I'm convinced that we are on the verge of the next Great Awakening."
He says, "I think there's a growing realization that a focus on politics will not ultimately change this nation...nor will moral reformation or religious education. What many ministry leaders are realizing is that people must have their worldviews, their hearts and souls fundamentally transformed...only Christ can do that."
He gives 4 reasons why he believes America is on the verge of another Great Awakening.
