Impeachment-- "He's Just Not Worth It"

"He," of course, is President Trump.

The person evaluating "He" as "not worth it" is Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Her political party has been shrieking "impeach him," impeach him" since the day after the election---weeks before he actually took office.

Why was he worth impeaching then, but is not worth it now?

A closer look is very revealing.

Be informed.

Speaker of the House Pelosi surprised a lot of people this week when she pivoted and decided it isn't worth it to impeach the President of the United States.

The resolve of the progressive Left.

One week ago, Fox News was reporting,
"House Democrats' rapidly expanding probes of President Trump and his associates have coincided with renewed calls on the left for an impeachment fight, with high profile testimony against the president and plans for more explosive hearings only fueling a frenzy sure to reverberate into 2020."

One week ago Muslim Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., assured protesters she would introduce a resolution this month urging the Judiciary Committee to move forward with impeachment proceedings against Trump.

One week ago "Christian" Rep. Maxine Waters, D-CA., called President Trump "unworthy," saying that "God will never forgive him." She said, "Now is the time to demonstrate your patriotism....Support impeachment."

One week ago, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-NY., announced a slew of document requests to 81 agencies to assist in bringing down (impeaching?) the president.

One week ago freshman representatives Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep Tlaib, D-Mich., signed on to a "Pledge to Impeach Trump" effort, sponsored by a group called "By The People." They did so because of the "flagrant abuse of presidential power from a white supremacist who is profiting off the presidential office, abusing his powers and undermining our democracy and our Constitution." Omar assured her supporters: "Impeachment is inevitable."

How progressivism conforms politics to the shape of water---seeking the path of least resistance.

And one week ago Pelosi said regarding the soon to be released Mueller Report, "Impeachment is a divisive issue"..."Let us see what the facts are and what the law is."

Pelosi now has second thoughts about impeachment.

Now, the water of progressive politics, not conviction or facts, has reshaped the beliefs of the Left as they seek the path of least resistance to accomplish the end goal.

The goal of bringing down President Trump hasn't changed. The method has changed.

Remember, in the mind of the so-called "progressive," all paths lead to "remaking America." Sometimes it just takes a little longer than expected. And perhaps a different path.

And the progressive end is always so noble that the end always justifies the means.

Why the pivot on impeachment?

A first grader could guess that Nancy probably knows what the Mueller Report is going to say---and more importantly what it is not going to say.

Let me guess. After Mueller's 2 years and tens of millions of dollars spent and people's lives destroyed: there was no collusion between Trump and Russia.

Reasons for the pivot.

  • Nadler told ABC: "Before you impeach somebody, you have to persuade the American public that it ought to happen."

The American public is "not" persuaded it out to happen.

A Harvard/Politico survey that measures what the public wants from Congress in 2019 shows that of the 21 possible priorities for the 2019 Congress, impeaching the president was tied for last, with only 38% of Americans deeming it "extremely important."

Democrats rank impeaching the President #14 on a list of 21 priorities. Republicans, not surprisingly, rank it at the bottom.

Even CNN, who despises the President, admitted that their polling revealed that only 42% of registered voters want him impeached.

A Monmouth survey released in November found that only 36% favor impeaching the President, and exit polls from the mid-term election found 41% favor impeachment and 57% oppose it.

The impact of impeachment?

Professor Paul Light of New York University has written a good deal about impeachment---particularly since World War II.

His emphasis is on the impact of impeachment, not what he calls the "breathless coverage of yet another hearing." In other words, does the investigation do more than just create headlines? Does it solve a problem? Does it repair or prevent breakdowns?

Light concludes that of the 31 major investigations he reviewed, 34% had no significant impact at all, another 31% were only somewhat significant, 22% were moderately significant and just 13% were very significant.

For the most part, it appears "impeachment" has been used as a political tool to harm and discredit political enemies, rather than to improve our country.

The spiritual dimension.

The Prophet Isaiah spoke boldly to the conditions of his times. He turned on the light of God's truth, warning that judgment would fall on God's people as a result of the conditions within the nation--- rotten political, social and religious conditions which were preventing God's people from fulling their mission to the world.

He warned of the danger posed from without---strong and aggressive nations surrounding the nation. He called on God's people to repent and turn back to God.

Isaiah impacted his nation. In fact, the Jewish Talmud says that Isaiah resisted King Manasseh's idolatrous decrees so strongly that he suffered the death of a martyr by being "sawn in two." This is likely what is being referenced in Hebrews 11:37.

Isaiah 45 speaks of Cyrus, an unlikely instrument of God, whose right hand is held by God to subdue nations before him and lose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut.

Through the Prophet, God says:
"I will make the crooked places straight; ...I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the Lord, who called you by your name, am the God of Israel."

Don't be fearful of the things you can't completely understand. Trust the Lord who has called you by your name.

Interestingly, Is. 45:13 assures:
"I have raised Cyrus up in righteousness, And I will direct all his ways; He shall build my city And let my exiles go free, Not for price nor reward---says the Lord of hosts."

And God says through the Prophet: (45:7) "I form the light and create the darkness."

Walk in the light. God is in control. Each day is in His hand.

Be Joyful. Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be Prayerful.
