Truth is not a left-wing progressive value.
From Marx and Lenin to present-day disciples of cultural Marxism, the phrase "I cannot tell a lie" has come to mean something very different than it did to George Washington and his cherry tree experience.
The Left cannot tell a lie because anything they say is "true," because they said it and believe it to be true.
The end justifies the means.
But the tables are turning.
Be informed.
Friday, former President Obama, in a private call with some of his former employees---he calls them "Obama Alum," said,
"The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed---about the Justice Department decision this week to drop charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn."
He said,
“And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk. And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”
Revelations over the past few days confirm that Obama is not primarily concerned about the "rule of law," but his concern lies in the fact that he, himself, was involved in the attempts to "get Trump." Efforts schemed to reverse a duly held presidential election.
The tables are being turned.
Richard Grenell, the acting director of national intelligence, has declassified documents related to Obama administration officials unmasking (revealing) of Michael Flynn in the transcripts of phone calls he had with Russia's ambassador.
Grenell met with the Justice Department last week to discuss releasing the documents, which include names of Obama-era officials involved in unmasking Flynn's name in their quest to "get him," so they could "get Trump."
By the time you are reading this, the documents may have already been released.
It's not illegal for US officials to make unmasking requests, but is unlawful to leak the information to the press or anyone else. It's classified. The information on Flynn was leaked to the Washington Post.
The concern has been that someone in the Obama administration had illegally disclosed classified information.
Now it has become apparent, that is exactly what happened.
On Wednesday, US Attorney General Barr, based on actual facts, determined that there was no case against Flynn and dismissed it.
Barr said on Thursday that it was a "perjury trap" to get Flynn, and there was nothing illegal about Flynn's call to Mr. Kislyak, Flynn's Russian counterpart. All administrations make those kinds of contacts.
Ironically, the transcripts are showing, so far, that all of the Obama officials were expressing---maybe lamenting--the fact there was no evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump administration.
Yet they carried on as if there was.
Grenell has also pressured Rep. Adam Schiff into releasing 53 transcripts of interviews that the House Intelligence Committee conducted as part of its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The transcripts have revealed that Obama administration officials James Clapper, Susan Rice, Ben Rhodes, and Samantha Power have denied, on the record, taking part in the Flynn leak.
This is why Barack Obama has become so visible in the past few days. He is trying to get ahead of this story so he can manage how people think about it.
He is saying it's no big deal, but the general public knows it is.
He is not only expressing his deep "concern" for America and the rule of law over A/G Barr's dropping the Flynn case, but he's also afraid of what is going to now see the light of day---exposed for all to see.
His fear of truth is probably a stronger motivation than his devotion to Joe Biden, but Obama said this week:
"This election that's coming up on every level is so important because what we're going to be battling is not just a particular individual or a political party. What we're fighting against is these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy---that has become a stronger impulse in American life."
The Old Testament admonishes, "Be sure your sin will find you out..." (Numbers 32:23). And Jesus taught in Luke 12: "That which is covered up will be revealed."
The tables are being turned.
Telling the truth.
In Wonderland, Humpty Dumpty told Alice that whenever he used a word, "it means what I choose it to mean---neither more nor less."
In today's political discourse, the problem is that not only do people attach their own so-called "progressive" meaning to words, but many words they use have no meaning at all.
When words become untethered to truth, they don't mean anything. They're just used to evoke emotional responses in others. To move an agenda forward. To create chaos. There's no more presumption of innocence under the law. We have seen that in the recent sexual assault case by Joe Biden---"Believe all women" unless they accuse our guy.
Dennis Prager wrote a column yesterday on an unrelated subject, but in it, he made some interesting observations about truth.
He says
"Truth is not a left wing value. It is a liberal value and it is a conservative value, but truth has never been a left wing value....from Lenin to today's left, lying, especially about opponents, is morally acceptable as long as it serves the left's goals of defeating opponents and attaining more power."
"Just as the Soviets labeled everything in the western press 'imperialist propaganda', the left labels everything with which it differs 'misinformation'," he notes.
When the left cannot stifle or silence opponents, it smears them. And lies about them.
I mentioned yesterday that Melinda Gates---Mrs. Bill Gates---has been on a tirade against Trump and conservatism. Appearing on a number of news and talk shows, she is underscoring that America is in "chaos, chaos, chaos," then explaining why we are in "chaos": It's because of Trump and his non-globalist policies---among other things.
Pilate, just hours before he would oversee the execution of Jesus, looked Truth in the face asking Him "what is truth?" While never recognizing Truth.
The same could be said of the Left today. They don't recognize the truth, because they don't know Him. They have no truth other than their own words "that mean what I choose it to mean---neither more nor less."
America's house is divided over what "Truth" looks like---, not politics.
John wrote this regarding the Truth:
"Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8: 31,32).
Abraham Lincoln said: "I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts."
