International news organizations are creating an impression with words and pictures that show a group of mothers trying to protect their children from Donald Trump and his troops in the streets of Portland, Oregon.
They claim Trump is breaking the law, and are now suing him as their children continue to march and loot and destroy and burn private and public property.
A time when we are calling good evil and evil good.
Be informed, not misled.
Local news stories yesterday in Portland, Oregon carried this message:
"More than 1000 people filled the city's core for the second straight night Tuesday to rally against police violence and systemic racism. Portlanders have amassed every night since late May to demand reforms to the criminal justice system. The crowds had decreased in size. But repeated use of force by federal officers against protesters---which occurred again Tuesday---has fueled larger crowds and attracted nationwide scrutiny to Portland."
No question, Portland has attracted nationwide scrutiny.
Mainstream national and international news organizations are reporting the same narrative the local news is reporting.
For example, The Daily Mail, based in Europe with offices in the US, says about the same thing in the text of their story, but their pictures tell a story of religious conviction and a mother's God-given virtue to protect her child.
One picture shows two moms carrying a sign that reads: "Mother Mary Lost a Son to State Violence."
Another shows a woman carrying a sign which reads: "We are the granddaughters of the witches you could not burn...And now we are mamas."
Can liberty be abused?
Liberty is as American as apple pie---although apple pie probably has some racist quality that has been previously suppressed.
Founding Father and devout Christian Patrick Henry famously told his colleagues as the British were closing in on the colonists, "Give me liberty or give me death."
Nightly we are told that the demonstrations in the streets are "mostly peaceful" and the picture of democracy---a thousand local news anchors look at the camera every evening across this country and tell the folks, "This is what democracy looks like"---before they launch their nightly attack on President Trump---and the demonstrations turn into riots.
But can liberty be abused?
Absolutely. And our Founding Fathers were concerned about that very thing.
George Washington sent a "circular to the states" Sunday, June 8, 1783, which said, "Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness."
Washington believed that a strong federal government was essential to preserving the independence of the colonies that rebelled from Great Britain. He feared that faction and disorganization would tear the states apart and cripple the new country's future.
At what point do these so-called demonstrations tear us apart and cripple our future? At what point do these acts of violence and personal destruction begin to be treated as crimes with consequences?
James Madison once wrote, "Liberty may be endangered by the abuses of liberty, as well as by the abuses of power."
He was referring to the hard-won freedom from government tyranny and the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Madison believed people can so misuse liberty or freedom as to bring it to an end.
Misuse of liberty
On June 24, CNN, despite warnings from health officials, reported:
"A new study published this month ...found no evidence that coronavirus cases grew in the weeks following the beginning of the protests."
"In fact," CNN told their audience, "researchers determined that social distancing behaviors actually went up after the protests."
This while churches, schools, and businesses had been declared "non-essential" and shut down because of the virus, by far-left mayors and governors who stood by and applauded the "young patriots" who were screaming in each other's face, denouncing America as a terrible country that is racist to the core.
The end justified the means. It always does with so-called progressives.
Yesterday we learned that these demonstrators /rioters actually were infecting each other.
Fox said this:
In public statements and interviews with Fox News this weekend, officials in Los Angeles, Seattle and Miami-Dade County, Fla., have indicated that some link between protests and new cases was at least possible. Still, many officials declined to comment when contacted by Fox News this weekend, and others – including New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's office – disputed that the protests had caused any issue.
Takeaway
Tuesday Joe Biden, while accusing federal law enforcement of attacking peaceful protesters, declared the "federal officers are acting without a clearly defined mandate or authority."
What Biden calls a "peaceful protest" is actually left-wing anarchists who are insulting police officers---both local and federal---using lasers to target the officer's eyes, shooting ball bearings with slingshots, using pellet guns and air rifles, launching fireworks at the officers, and barricading police inside a federal courthouse.
And Joe Biden is siding with the criminals.
The far-left leaders in Portland are demanding Trump remove his troops. Does the President have the authority to protect federal property from violent rioters?
Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley says: "The federal government has full authority to protect federal buildings and to carry out arrests for federal crimes in any city."
The prophet Isaiah wrote,
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter (5:20).
This ongoing riot is a stark and chilling commentary on the misgovernance of Portland Governor Ted Wheeler.
It is also a reflection of what a culture looks like when it removes God from the prominent position He once held in the culture.
When people embrace "evolving truth," revised history, and humanistic leadership, the end is always chaos and confusion, thinking...even believing that good is evil and evil good. Darkness is actually light, and light darkness. What is bitter, actually comes to taste of sweetness.
May God help us in our time of need.
