As the ever-worsening crisis on the border expands, even the far-left American press is asking at least a few real questions---Like, "Why is this happening?" Or "Why is the media blocked from reporting on the extent of the crises?" And "Whose fault is this?"
A quick look at what is happening, and why, is very revealing.
A closer look at the wise words of a prophet spoken about 2700 years ago is very enlightening.
Be informed, not misled.
Over the past few weeks, as the border crisis began to worsen, some began to ask what and who is responsible for all this chaos.
The quick Biden response was to blame Trump.
At least three times this week I have heard Vice President Harris explain that her---I mean "our" administration was handed a "very difficult situation at the border."
President Biden has echoed her explanation.
But that isn't true.
Even the New York Times isn't buying that. Neither are the Mexican authorities.
Both say Trump's policies were working and Biden's are not.
It's so bad that the Biden administration has put a blackout on the press reporting from the border.
Last night this exclusive report was published detailing the horrible conditions at the border.
Even NBC is upset about the blackout.
NBC says the Biden administration is blaming the pandemic for not allowing the press to take in-person tours and pictures of the situation at the border.
They are also reporting that "while the Trump administration allowed some border ride-alongs for journalists during the pandemic, there 'has not been a single one since January 20', the day President Joe Biden was inaugurated."
NBC is also reporting that Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, is upset, and has "often criticized Biden for not visiting the border during this surge." They also attempt to help the Biden administration by explaining, "The Biden administration finds itself in a difficult position when it comes to messaging about immigration."
"On the one hand," they say "it wants to show voters it has a more humane approach, while on the other hand, it doesn't want to encourage more undocumented migrants to cross the border."
Roberta Jacobson, Biden's coordinator for the southern border, told NBC and other reporters, "It is difficult at times to convey both hope in the future and the danger that is now. And that's what we're trying to do."
A progressive worldview breeds confusion.
The New Testament tells us that a "double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." Progressivism is the model for instability---it is the "house that was built on the sand" which Jesus tells us will collapse in the storms that always come.
"Storms" also lead progressives to make very bad, reactionary decisions.
We're learning this week from the Washington Post that "because 1000 members of families and unaccompanied minors crossed the Rio Grande last Friday and border agents have another 1,000 migrants they have been unable to process since the night before as of this [past] weekend, the Border Patrol had more than 5000 unaccompanied minors in custody, the Biden administration has requested air support."
He is planning to fly illegals to our northern border with Canada, and release them into US communities along our northern border.
In addition to inserting the migrants into northern border US communities, President Biden has also taken $86 million of the $1.9 trillion of COVID recovery money and has leased hotel rooms to put up thousands of migrants for at least 6 months. Probably longer according to administration officials.
And the Biden officials have, according to the Washington Times, dispensed with the long-term family detention---meaning the illegals will be released directly into the country at the southern border with deportation hearings down the line years in the future---if ever.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and other Biden confidants are beginning to admit that it appears the Biden border policies "do not look like they are working." But like all good progressives---they are telling the press, "We just need more time."
When evil becomes good.
There's a lesson in all this that transcends even the horrific disaster at our southern border.
President Biden and his administration is spinning this disaster as "advancing a moral humanitarian effort versus that of the immoral policies of the Trump administration."
The truth is that the Trump policies were working, and the Biden policies are not working. Even the press is admitting it because the claims of President Biden belie the reality.
Progressives normally don't care what the realities are, because the truth is what they say it is. It's their truth. And they are standing in their truth.
However, when they are the President of the United States, and "their truth" is destructive, it matters a great deal.
Stephen Miller, the former special advisor to President Trump, observed,
"What humanitarian principle is served by rewarding and encouraging the brutal and monstrous trafficking of minors? What value or humanitarian principle is served by making it easier for criminal organizations to savagely assault innocent men, women, and children for profit, because that is what is happening right now."
Takeaway
About 25 years after the Prophet Isaiah's birth, the Northern kingdom of Israel met its downfall at the hands of Assyria. Isaiah's powerful message from God to Judah is what saved the southern kingdom during those trying times. The security of the southern kingdom, however, was fragile--- Because of the spiritual and moral decadence of the country in its politics, its culture, and even in its religion.
He spoke boldly to the nation and its culture, warning that if they didn't turn back to God they would experience destruction.
In defining his times he declared,
"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight! Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink, Who justify the wicked for a bribe, and takeaway justice from the righteous man" (Is. 5:20-23).
A message for our own times.
