President Joe Biden delivered his first State of the Union address last night as his administration struggles to combat soaring inflation, confusing coronavirus messaging, surging illegal immigration, rising global influence of the Chinese Communist Party, and now, the possibility of a larger military conflict stemming from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
He renewed his commitment to the abortion industry, and forcefully preached about unity---after he has used the power of government to force people to be vaccinated or be fired, he accused border patrol agents of whipping agents, shut down American energy, and empowered Putin in doing so.
Some thoughts on the state of our nation.
Be informed, not misled.
A number of the president's claims gave me pause. I'm sure I'm not the only one who paused.
Progress in taking control of our borders.
Last night he called on Congress to help him secure the Southern Border, saying his administration has already taken action to stem the flow of illegal immigration.
He said:
- And if we are to advance liberty and justice, we need to secure the border and fix the immigration system.
- We can do both. At our border, we’ve installed new technology like cutting-edge scanners to better detect drug smuggling.
- We’ve set up joint patrols with Mexico and Guatemala to catch more human traffickers.
- We’re putting in place dedicated immigration judges so families fleeing persecution and violence can have their cases heard faster.
- We’re securing commitments and supporting partners in South and Central America to host more refugees and secure their own borders.
- We can do all this while keeping lit the torch of liberty that has led generations of immigrants to this land—my forefathers and so many of yours.
- Provide a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, those on temporary status, farmworkers, and essential workers.
- Revise our laws so businesses have the workers they need and families don’t wait decades to reunite.
- It’s not only the right thing to do—it’s the economically smart thing to do.
- Let’s get it done once and for all.
Abortion is women's healthcare.
I was disappointed, but not surprised when the president, once again, put the full power of the presidency behind his unfailing support for abortion.
Life News said this:
Joe Biden used the State of the Union to promote abortion and called the killing of 63 million unborn babies since Roe v. Wade “health care.”
Although three is no right to abortion and ending the lives of babies before birth permanently deprives them of liberty and freedom, Biden said, “Advancing liberty and justice also require protecting the rights of women.”
“The constitutional right affirmed in Roe v. Wade—standing precedent for half a century—is under attack as never before,” Biden said, celebrating the infamous Supreme Court decision that invented a so-called right to kill babies in abortions that have never existed in the Constitution.
If we want to go forward—not backward—we must protect access to health care. Preserve a woman’s right to choose,” Biden said.
But the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life group, took Biden to task for promoting abortion.
“Biden has repeatedly proven that he stands up for the abortion lobby, not the majority of Americans. So much for the “unity” he promised on the campaign trail,” it said. “In contrast to Biden’s efforts to pass the most extreme pro-abortion laws & stack his admin with abortion activists, an overwhelming majority of the American people (71%) want abortion to be limited to the first 3 months of pregnancy.”
“The reality is that his admin is the most pro-abortion administration in history.”
President Biden concluded with this:
“My report is this: the State of the Union is strong—because you, the American people, are strong.”
