Public Ed. Goliath Claims "No Agenda" ---David Gathering Stones

There was a time when communities large and small gathered around their churches and their schools.

However today the public schools work hard to not only block parents from participating in the educational process of their children but to keep parents in the dark about what their children are being taught.

Most everyone knows this by now, and is talking about it, but is anyone actually doing anything about it?

Yes. They are.

Be informed, not misled.

While public education continues to claim they merely want to give our kids a "good education," most of us know by now that is a lie. It's simply not true.

It's well known that public schools have become breeding grounds for far-left progressive agendas, including critical race theory, and the 1619 Project which completely revises America's history to teach this generation that not only is our country, not "exceptional"---it is racist to the core. Systemically so.

Our public schools have become laboratories for social experimentation teaching that boys are girls and girls are boys---and that some of our kids are neither, and some are all of the above---and some are "in transition."

This while some medical doctors are working feverishly to make this insanity become a reality.

What can we do about it?

We can start by being informed.

A fundamental shift is beginning to happen.

Actor and Christian activist Kirk Cameron and his wife are doing something about it.

Award-winning actor Kirk Cameron is blasting America's public schools for becoming breeding grounds for far-left progressive agendas, including critical race theory, Nikole Hannah-Jones' 1619 Project, and gender ideology.

He says, "The problem is that public school systems have become so bad. It's sad to say they're doing more for grooming, for sexual chaos, and the progressive left than any real educating about the things that most of us want to teach our kids. The solution to the problem was for parents to take the lead on their children's education and teach them at home."

To make the case, the award-winning actor has produced  a movie titled, "The Homeschool Awakening."  It premieres in theaters on June 13 and 14.

The movie follows the journey of about 17 homeschooling families who respond to misconceptions and stereotypes. In the film, Cameron also discusses his journey to homeschool his six children with his wife Chelsea.

Cameron said the "genesis" of creating, what would become a project that spanned over two years, was the novel coronavirus pandemic. At that time, he said, parents were finally starting to see the things schools were teaching their kids.

"If we send our children to Rome to be educated … we shouldn't be surprised if they come back Romans," Cameron said. "If we want them … to love God and love their neighbor and feel gratitude and thankful that they live in the United States of America, the freest country on earth, then you've got to teach them those things … I realized that there was no better way for our family to do that … then to bring them home and join in with this rich, robust community, with tons of curriculum to be able to have the flexibility and freedom to raise our kids the way we wanted them to be raised."

He stresses that are many excellent teachers in the school system, but the system is holding them back from being a "light in the darkness" and passing on the kinds of values and virtues that made America so great.

In fact, he says his father, grandmother, and grandfather were teachers.

He says public education is "rotting out the minds and souls of America's children." They are spreading a terminal disease, not education."

Cameron says, "And often, public schools have been guilty of cutting parents out of the raising of their children process, of developing and cultivating their hearts and minds and telling them, 'You're not qualified. You don't have the degree. You don't have anything to say about what your kids are going to learn in school. We will teach them.'"

Today's public-school systems, he says, are not working for parents, but actively against them. So as far as he is concerned, "Public education has become Public Enemy No. 1."

David goes after Goliath.

Bethany Mandel believes that nothing is off-limits for the Marxist-inspired "woke" movement including your innocent children---and as she gathers her stones she is taking aim at childer's educational publishing giant "Scholastic."

Scholastic is a well-known, trusted publisher of children's books and has been doing so for 100 years. The corporate giant has published books like "Clifford the Big Red Dog," which is the company's mascot, and they also famously launched the career of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

One of her "stones" is to expose Scholastic for what it is now, not what it has been over the past 100 years.

Think Disney. They have evolved.

Fox Business Business Channel said this:

"Our children's souls are in danger," Heroes of Liberty editor and board member Bethany Mandel says in a video exclusively provided to FOX Business.

"All over America, parents are waking up to the danger that a woke education system is having on their kids' mental health, not to mention their futures. What's happening in education isn't the biggest problem. The biggest problem is our culture, or, to be more precise, our children's bookshelves."

"You may think that your children are safe from woke indoctrination at home, but they're almost certainly not," Mandel warned. "Scholastic, a billion-dollar children's book juggernaut, turned into the most dangerous in youth culture. We call it the Woketopus."

She says the Scholastic "woketopus" has "found a way to smuggle propaganda into your home right behind your back," by going straight to the schools and teachers, who recommend Scholastic books to kids. These books do not include American values, but rather "gender fluidity," LGBTQ issues, critical race theory, "and other toxic ideas that will make your child sad and confused about their identity, sexuality, and heritage."

She warns about the books "Magical Boy" (a pro-transgender book), "The Girl From the Sea" by Molly Knox Ostertag (which features a lesbian relationship), "Rick" by Alex Gino (a book about LGBTQ identities), and "This Book Is Anti-Racist" by Tiffany Jewell (a book pushing race activism).

Not only is she calling out Scholastic publishing, but she is also publishing a series of books that reflect what our kids should be learning called  Heroes of Liberty– which publishes books about Ronald Reagan, Thomas Sowell, Amy Coney Barrett, Alexander Hamilton, and others.

How is the giant responding?

Fox Business contacted "Scholastic" and asked about why they are now elevating these kinds of storylines and social indoctrination.

This was the response from their vice-president of corporate communications, Anne Sparkman:

"The only agenda at Scholastic is to engage kids in a love of reading, in partnership with schools and families, Throughout our more than the 100-year history we’re proud to have brought generations of books, magazines, and Scholastic book club and fair experiences as part of this mission."

"Our broad selection represents the many, many kids we serve from all backgrounds because every child should have access to stories that relate, inspire, and inform. We will always respect the role of parents and teachers in the book selection process and in choosing the books that they feel are best for their children and students while keeping an array of titles accessible to all children."

The takeaway

More and more conservative and Christian educators are stepping up and sounding the alarm. Scholastic is a publisher that has been trusted for generations, but no more. They are politicized and have become activists for the far-left agenda.

The problem with this particular publisher is that, to a great degree, they have a monopoly. It is in 90% of all schools in our country. There is no other publisher with this kind of publication footprint in public education.

Kirk Cameron is doing what he can to help parents chart a new path for their children. Bethany Mandel is doing all she can to provide new alternative materials for parents.

Millions of parents have withdrawn their children from public schools. Yes, the pandemic was responsible for part of the departure, but not all, because millions have not returned.

The question is what will you do knowing what your child is walking into 170 days per school year?

Understanding the sacrifices and difficulties of doing so, I strongly encourage you to remove your children from government-run public schools.

Be Informed. Be Vigilant. Be discerning. Be Engaged. Be Prayerful.
