Forty-one-year-old American Founding Father John Adams, after signing the Declaration of Independence, wrote a couple of letters to his wife.

He said of the 4th of July 1776, "I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival."

"It ought to be commemorated," he said, "as the Day of Deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty."

Then he said this: "It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfire, and illuminations from one End of the continent to the other from this time forward forever more."

I'll be talking about the signers of the Declaration of Independence, their resolve, the price they paid, and those who followed in leading our country.

Be informed, not misled.
