A new report from the CDC has the agency sounding the alarm about extremely high levels of depression, suicidal thoughts, substance use, and violence experienced by teen girls and “LGBQ+” youth.

The CDC is reporting that 10% of high school students attempted suicide in 2021, and more than half of girls are sad or hopeless.

What have we done?

Be informed, not misled.

Our kids are in trouble.

The Daily Wire says "A new report from the CDC has the agency sounding the alarm about extremely high levels of depression, suicidal thoughts, substance use, and violence experienced by teen girls and “LGBQ+” youth."

"Poor mental health and suicidal ideation and attempts have increased among high school students over the last decade, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and more than half of girls struggle with “persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.”

The CDC's findings are reflected in the latest Youth Risk Behavior Survey prepared by the health agency's Division of Adolescent and School Health. The report highlights trends in adolescent health and well-being using data collected every two years among a nationally representative sample of U.S. high school students.

Nearly 3 in 5 high school girls surveyed, or 57%, reported feelings of persistent sadness or hopelessness – that's a 60% increase over the past decade. 30% of teen girls said they've seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year – a 20% increase.

And…14% of boys said they’ve seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year – a 15% increase since 2011.

Nearly 70% of all students identifying as LGBQ+ – the agency didn't specifically ask about "gender identity" when conducting its research, leaving out the "T" for transgender – said they suffer persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.

Had they included the "T" (transgender) component in their research, the number would have skewed much worse.

I suspect they knew that.

Nearly half said they've seriously considered attempting suicide and about 1 in 4 say they did attempt suicide.

The report is 89 pages. It is linked above.

CDC's Causes and Solutions.

The CDC makes several suggestions as to how we should respond to this national crisis.

The CDC says in their report that school intervention is the answer, citing the amount of time American kids spend in the classroom on a daily basis.

I agree. Our children are spending far too much time in government-run public schools, and the schools are obsessed with indoctrinating rather than educating.

There needs to be a school intervention for sure. Parents must intervene in what children are being taught in public schools. Where that has happened, parents have been removed from school board meetings, arrested, and even labeled "domestic terrorists" by our own Department of Justice,

The CDC Report reflects the consequences but is weak on solutions.

CDC suggests increased “school connectedness” – which they define as students feeling that adults and peers in the school care about their learning as well as about them as individuals. They also recommended LGBTQ+ clubs and more "quality health education" that's "LGBTQ+ inclusive" and focuses on "sexual consent.”

That's what got us to this point. That focus has been obsessive in the classroom.

Noticeably absent from the agency's listed strategies for combating the crisis was anything regarding social media use or the pervasive nature of pornography, which experts say plays a direct role in mental health problems and sexual violence among teens.

Studies have shown that kids as young as elementary school age are being exposed to graphic adult content, with an estimated 15% of kids being exposed before they're 10 years old. Among teens who watch porn on a regular basis, it’s been found that 84% have viewed content that depicts rape and other sexual violence.

Parental monitoring was also identified as another “important protective factor for adolescents.”

“High parental monitoring, defined as parents or other adults in a student’s family most of the time or always knowing where they were going or who they would be with, is associated with decreased sexual risk, substance use, experiences of violence, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors,” the report says.

Biblical solutions for the secular progressive failure.

This was Webster's 1828 Dictionary definition of education:

"Education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, arts, and science, is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties" (Webster’s’ 1828 Dictionary definition of education).

America flourished, as our children flourished in their classical education.

When Noah Webster, whom many consider to be the father of American public education, was removed from the classroom and the "enlightened" humanist secular progressives high-jacked education and declared squatter's rights in public schools, everything changed.

Biblical-classical teaching and learning see education differently. It sees children differently as subjects of God’s Sovereignty in human life. Teaching and learning are formative of Biblical reasoning.

Noah Webster was so committed to those principles that he said, "Education is useless without the Bible."

By regarding every individual child as a unique creation of God, endowed with His image, destined for immortality, and created with a special purpose in God’s grand design revealed when the absolute truths of God’s Word are embedded into the heart, soul, and mind.

The child is a unique creation of God. Like no other one in the universe. The child bears God’s image for His purposes.

Moses, in Deuteronomy, directs God's people to instruct their children “when you rise up, walking in the way, lying down” constantly, continually, unfailingly.

Parenting is tough in today's culture. It's probably never been more difficult. The battle is spiritual. Satan seeks to destroy.

Webster said of education:

"The moral principles and precepts contained in the Scriptures ought to form the basis of all of our civil constitutions and laws...All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible."

And he said,

"If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws."

Takeaway

Secular progressives have destroyed public education, are corrupting the minds of our children, and are bankrupting our culture---morally and fiscally.

Webster also said, "Corruption of morals is rapid enough in any country without a bounty from the government."

Take back your children. See that their education is biblically based, and fervently pray for them day and night.

Pray for our country, and remember that God is in control.
