WA State's War On Parents

Washington State is poised to potentially enact an amended law essentially stripping parents’ rights to stop a child from seeking a gender transition, adding another layer to the ever-complex culture wars.

It will all depend on what "compelling" means to the state.

Be informed, not misled.

The Bill.

The Olympian reports, "Senate Bill 5599 would clarify in statute that licensed shelters or homeless youth programs in the state would not be required to report runaway youth if a compelling reason exists, or if those youth are seeking gender-affirming or reproductive care."

This is the last bill the House dealt with before the cutoff.

They continued, "Additionally, host homes would not have to have parental permission if a runaway youth is seeking gender-affirming or reproductive care. The bill passed the House Wednesday by a 57-39 vote, and if signed by the governor, the bill would go into effect 90 days after the session adjourns."

The paper also notes that "Its passage angered opponents, who see it as an affront to parents’ rights. Rep. Jim Walsh, R-Aberdeen, issued the following statement:

“Since the vote on SB 5599, I’ve been contacted by thousands of concerned Washingtonians about this attack on parents’ rights and families,” Walsh said. “Sponsors and supporters of this bill have overstepped the constitution and case law in promoting this policy, which would allow state bureaucrats to hide minor children from custodial parents and legal guardians. This bill is wrong — legally, ethically, and morally. ... “This is not the first policy approved this session that turns the power and machinery of the state government against families. Lawmakers promoting these changes put wedges between children and their parents, grandparents and the people who love them.”

Fox News headline reads, "Washington bill to allow medical transgender interventions on minors without parental consent." the sub-headline says "Instead of contacting parents, shelters can contact the Washington state government."

Fox quotes a young girl, Chole Cole, who has detransitioned: "I'm afraid my generation will be led astray."

They are being led astray. What these LGBTQAI+ activists and complicit elected officials are doing to these children is morally and socially wrong. It should be illegal.

Chloe Cole shares the complications she deals with every day as a result of medical interventions she was subjected to after being diagnosed with gender dysphoria. "I'm not sure whether it'll even go away," she said.

"Gender-affirming treatment can be prescribed to two-spirit, transgender, nonbinary, and other gender diverse individuals," according to the Washington State bill that passed the House in April.

For minors, "affirming care" typically included puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries.

Instead of contacting parents, shelters can contact the Washington Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) instead.

Another "compelling reason" not to notify parents about kids staying in a host home was "circumstances that indicate notifying the parent or legal guardian will subject the minor to abuse or neglect."

The result of this bill becoming law would be child "abuse."

State Senate Republican Leader John Braun blasted the bill for attacking parents' rights.

Other states are considering this kind of legislation.

A California Democrat mother is sounding the alarm over a bill that would allow mental health professionals to take children as young as 12 years old away from their families so they can seek care without parental consent.

Parental rights advocate Erin Friday told "Fox & Friends First" this move is "terrifying" legislation that she fears could be followed by other states.

"This is an abrogation of parental rights once again, and here in California, it's almost as if we get to parent our kids until they're age 12, and then the state gets to take them," Friday said.  "So I call this bill the state-sanctioned kidnapping bill because there doesn't need to be any allegation of abuse against a parent or a serious threat of suicide of the child before a school counselor can unilaterally decide to take that child and place them in a residential facility."

Transgender Dr. Rachel Levine---Biden's Assistant Health Secretary --- says changing kids' genders will soon be fully embraced: "Wheels will turn on this," Levine says.

Levine also said gender-affirming care for minors had the "highest support" of the Biden administration.

Indeed it does.

Who is pushing this kind of destructive legislation?

In Washington State, State Democratic Sen. Marko Liias sponsored the Senate bill.

He  put out a statement claiming the proposal “affirms that trans youth are protected in Washington state by removing barriers to safe shelter.”

The politician said the effort helps kids in homes where parents might not be “supportive.”

The statement says, “This legislation gives meaningful choices to young people who may not have supportive families at home so they do not end up on the street, but instead have shelter options when seeking this life-saving care.”

That sounds compassionate, but it's a lie.

Liias is a homosexual activist. He calls this assault on parents "life-saving care."

Takeaway

I'm reminded of something the Prophet Isaiah said that is as true today as the day he spoke it:

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter" (5:20).
