Saving Salmon--- Killing Rivers

A well-funded environmentalist group played a key role in the push to remove dams in the Pacific Northwest’s Klamath River ahead of the premature deaths of thousands of salmon.

American Rivers — an organization that has received millions of dollars from leftist environmentalist grantmaking organizations in recent years, has enabled the killing of salmon while supposedly saving rivers.

According to Siskiyou News, a local outlet in Northern California, they were “the orchestrator of the Klamath dams removal project.”

The Bible clearly tells us we are to be "stewards" of God's Creation.

Is the out-of-control envirno-mania an act of stewardship?

Be informed, not misled.

The Daily Caller reports, "The drawdowns of several reservoirs pursuant to the scheduled removal of four dams in the river preceded the deaths of 'hundreds of thousands' of young salmon in the waterway, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting."

This is an example of extreme environmentalism out of control.

You just can’t make this stuff up!

A recent press release by the Siskiyou County Health Department stated:

Residents should not be in or drink water from the Klamath River due to high levels of arsenic, lead, and aluminum.

The nonprofit American Rivers, which is unknown to most people, is a board member of the Klamath River Renewal Corporation (KRRC) and the orchestrator of the Klamath dam removal project. Indirectly, it gave itself an award for "River of the Year."

But for what, some might ask?

Releasing 5-7 million metric yards of lake bottom clay sediments that were known to be toxic into a wild and scenic river? Turning it green with pollution?

Killing an entire river’s ecosystem and the billions of life forms therein for the remote possibility of a better salmon run?

The release continues:

And what makes a polluted river full of the rotting corpses of fish and animals the ‘River of the Year’?

Due to the massive kill-off of virtually all the aquatic life in the Klamath River, under the oversight of KRRC, many people are referring to the Klamath River as the ‘River of Death’.

And guess who is on the hook for the gargantuan costs of this massive disaster? Primarily California and Oregon taxpayers, who are likely going to be looking at $2-billion in total costs and liabilities according to many experts.

Long-time local river residents and conservationists feel that KRRC and their associates have destroyed the Klamath River and the essential life-giving lakes behind the Klamath River Dams.

Sadly, many informed people who live on the Klamath River, some being river guides, fishermen and wildlife enthusiasts believe KRRC should be charged with crimes against humankind and nature for the following:

1. Misrepresenting, obfuscating, and spinning science and reports to favor the removal of the Klamath River Dams for a profit. Sediment Test Selected For Klamath River Lake Sediments Is Least Sensitive Available – Studies Show – Siskiyou News.

2. Destroying the lakes and the amazing ecosystems around them,

3. Participating in the violation of the Constitutional and Human Rights of the citizens who live on and around Copco Lake, Iron Gate Lake, and along the Klamath River, as outlined in this heartfelt video:

4. A river so polluted, it killed 850,000 fall-run Chinook Salmon fry: Did Fish and Game Officials Just Cause 850,000 Juvenile Salmon to Die? – (California Globe)

5. Hundreds of millions of native species of Klamath River crayfish were killed.

Has environmentalism become a cult?

The push to remove the dams is often marketed as beneficial for salmon, as proponents of the plan—including American Rivers—have argued that the dams obstruct salmon's natural movements and access to habitat. However, weeks after beginning the process to remove one of the systems scheduled for deconstruction on the river, a large number of the 830,000 young salmon released into the river on Feb. 26 had died as of March 2.

Home and property values are collapsing in the area.

“I’ve been around natural disasters all of my life, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” Siskiyou County Supervisor Ray says, adding, “The river is essentially dead, as is everything in it.”

Environmentalism and the so-called "green movement" has become a vehicle to achieve other more important causes....like political power. And wealth.

For some of the "useful idiots" in the "green movement" --- "climate change" has become a cult. A religion that appears to care about the environment when it's really a mechanism to allow the elite to execute the largest power grab in the history of the United States.

The Trojan Horse of our times.

We’ve all heard it by now. The world is ending, and the only thing you and I can do to stop it is to give up our freedoms to Leftist elitists who care about nothing but money and power.

We've been told:

  • The Icebergs will melt in the next 10 years.
  • Florida will be underwater in the next 20 years.
  • Most of the world will starve by the year 2000.
  • There are too many people in the world for the environment to sustain.
  • Polar Bears will soon be extinct, although there are record numbers of them this year.

The movement has certainly had its false prophets, from Al Gore to Gretta.

We're told we must cut down on our travel while those making the demands arrive at Davos each year in their private jets to discuss how they can exert more power over the "little people."

"How dare you enjoy the freedom to travel wherever you want whenever you want," say the elite as they gather like vultures to feast on their sense of superiority at Davos in their private jets that emit carbon like chimneys in a coal mine.

The Bible and the environment.

God's Word is very clear about our responsibility to the environment.

Consider this:

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it (Genesis 2:15).

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth (Genesis 1:28).

The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein (Psalm 24:1).
