Following Dan Savage's assault on the Bible at a convention of 3000 high school students in Seattle earlier this year, Brian Brown, president of National Organization for Marriage, offered to debate him--- anywhere, anytime.

Brown and Savage recently sat down for dinner at Savage's home---with the cameras rolling.

KOMO 4 News carried the story and a link to the one-hour debate on their news last night. Those of you in the Puget Sound area may have seen it. I don't know if other TV news in Central, Eastern or Southwest Washington carried the story.

It is something that every one who stands in defense of marriage should see.

I have linked the KOMO story above. Please notice that there is a video of KOMO's news story about the debate. Scroll down to the bottom of the story and there is a second video which is the debate or conversation.

I have watched it. I would like you to watch it and share your thoughts. Your thoughts can be helpful to thousands of people who are thinking about this issue---perhaps conflicted about it---unsure, and will read this blog.

Was this conversation helpful? If so, to whom? Who do you feel made the strongest case? Who do you feel will benefit most from this video as it is seen by millions of people on YouTube? Those seeking to redefine marriage or those of us standing in defense of it? Will it help our stand for marriage here in Washington? Do you think it will change any one's mind? If so, toward which side?

Be Vigilant. Be Discerning. Be Prayerful. Be Active. Be Informed. Be Blessed.

  1. Gary -

The only one redefining marriage is you and those of your ilk. God's Word is CLEAR - Marriage is NOT consummated by the State - as you contend. Marriage is consummated by GOD and Him alone!!

    In Christ,

  2. One giant 'tipping point' towards marriage equality!

I am disappointed in Brown. He said the right things but seemed to be trying to please and gain approval. I oppose gay marriage but feel this will help gays more than us. I wish he wouldn't have done this.

  4. After watching I have concerns about NOM's ability to win in Washington. This is different than the Eastern and Southern states. I wish Backholm and Fuiten would not have brought them in. It was a mistake. Not good leadership.

  5. My favorite part of the video was when the moderator commented "as the Jew at the table" on Christians meeting at the Council of Jerusalem to decide what parts of the Old Testament they were going to obey and which parts they were going to ignore.

  6. If we win this marriage battle it will be by the grace of God, not the leadeship.

  7. I watched the debate and was very impressed with Brian Brown. It was a great picture of God's grace in action in one of his people. I have dealt with Dan Savage in the political arena...he is very sure of himself, but his facts are questionable. Brown handled him beautifully...the facts are on his side...he relies on his knowledge and affable personality. He was in Dan savages home, He was kind and strong. A good thing to remember is all of our life on this earth is by the grace of God. By the grace of God. I am what I am...
