The Religion Of Global Warming And Its False Prophets

Wednesday, President Obama went to "Tahoe" as westerners call it, telling his audience it was "special" to stand on the shores of Lake Tahoe, a place he has never visited before.

"It's been written that the air here is so fine, it must be the same air that the angels breathe," he said.

"So," he continued, "it's no wonder that for thousands of years, this place has been a spiritual one."

He meant "spiritual" for the local Washoe Indian Tribe, right?

The president continued, "For the Washoe people, it is the center of their world."

But it isn't only sacred to the Indians in the mind of Barack Obama---"And just as this place is sacred to Native Americans, it should be sacred to all Americans. And that's why we're here...to keep alive Tahoe's spirit and to keep the faith with this truth..." our president said.

He quoted a Washoe elder and spoke of "sacred" connections.

It is biblical to be good stewards of all that God has given us---and that certainly includes His Creation, and Lake Tahoe.

In fact, the Bible says God, the Creator, gave man "dominion" over all of His Creation.

I know about having a connection with the land. I grew up on an orchard in the Yakima Valley of Washington State, with others who also depended on the land to produce fruit and vegetables. There is a connection---if you don't take care of the land, it can't do what it is supposed to do.

I also understand first hand that various Indian tribes have various religious rituals that are directly connected to the land, and the moon and the trees, etc..

But this missive from our president feels a little odd. Particularly to those of us who have a personal relationship with the Creator of the "land."

Last year, Michael Chapman wrote an article in which he quoted Senator Ted Cruz saying, "Climate change is not science---it's religion."

Cruz referred to a Senate hearing he had chaired a couple of weeks prior, where Aaron Mair, president of the Sierra Club testified.

Cruz said, "We had an exchange where I simply asked him about the data."

He said, "Mair simply couldn't answer the most basic question, starting with the fact...that for the last 18 years the satellite data show no significant warming whatsoever."

Cruz said Mair had no idea about the facts and was constantly turning to his aides looking for answers.

The senator said, "You know, part of the reason he didn't know the facts? Because climate change is not science---it's religion."

I agree with Cruz.

So do more scientists than the president and the media would have you believe.

Dr. John Cristy is professor of atmospheric science and director of Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama. He has been reporting that the Earth's temperature has "plateaued" and there has been no actual global warming over the past 19 years.

Christy says that's a fact, and there's not much to comment on.

Dr. Don Eastbrook, a climate scientist and glacier expert from Washington State (taught at WWSU in Bellingham) says he predicted this in 1999---"The same year the United Nations' International Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) models were predicting that the Earth would warm by one degree per decade, I was predicting that the Earth would cool for the next three decades."

Eastbrook says, "They were way off the mark..."

Barry Secrest wrote an article for Conservative Refocus last year, in which he says, "The cult of Climate Change is now the new-age 'old time religion' of the modern day and its filled with fiery, government-report thumping disciples wielding loosely transcripted pseudo-scientific reports, as if chiseled by the Almighty Himself."

He says, "The Messiah of this newly constituted faith comes to us in the form of a legion of government bureaucrats, struggling to make 'settled science fiction' known to all man...Their gospel is a collection of graphs and 'customed' thermodynamic data which only they, the Pharisees and deacons of statism, can accurately disseminate to the uncleansed masses."

There's more, but you get his point.

The Bible says much about false teachers and false religions.

I came across an excellent article in The Gospel Coalition, written a while back by Colin Smith, regarding 7 Traits of False Teachers. While it is written to the church about the church, it strikes a parallel to the false teachers of climate change and other heresies.

Here's a brief overview of Smith's comments. I recommend you read his article.

(2 Peter 2:1): "There were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you"

Satan is the counterfeiter...he has a false gospel.

7 Traits of False Teachers

  1. Different Source---Where does the message come from?
  2. Different Message---Where does the message come from?
  3. Different Position---In what position of the message leave you?
  4. Different Character---What kind of people does the message produce?
  5. Different Appeal---Why should you listen to the message?
  6. Different Fruit---What result does the message have in people's lives?
  7. Different End---Where does the message ultimately lead you?
