Pelosi Advances Impeachment Using "Famous Men"

Yesterday Speaker Pelosi delivered her impeachment articles to the Senate as she should have done nearly a month ago.

In doing so, she used Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Paine, and even my favorite poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

As she announced the House "managers" of the impeachment, she said, "This is a very important day for us."

And it may be more consequential than she realizes.

Be informed.

Invoking Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Paine, and Longfellow, Nancy Pelosi delivered her articles to the Senate in a performance that looked much like an academy awards production.

She told the nation, "This is a very important day for us."

Why impeachment of President Trump is so important for her and her colleagues.

The United States House of Representatives has devoted all of its time, effort and who knows how much money they've spent, in fulfilling the demand's of their people in the House---like Rep. Maxine Waters, Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Tlaib and others who began calling for President Trump's impeachment before he was sworn into office.

In order for her to retain her power among House Democrats and in the House of Representatives, she has had to move further and further Left to satisfy the "progressives."

Impeaching Trump is important because Pelosi, Schumer and other luminaries of the far Left have realized they can't beat Trump at the ballot box.

Hillary was "inevitable," then she wasn't "inevitable." The Left is so obsessed with their own progressive agenda that they seem to believe everyone agrees. We don't.

A quick look at the Democrat candidates still standing further reveals why "this day is so important to us"---she knows it is not likely that Sanders or Warren can beat Trump in an honest election because the nation doesn't want to become a socialist nation. Some of our kids do because they've been educated by people like Warren and Bernie. But the adults generally don't because they have some understanding of history.

Socialism is the Black Plague to every culture that has embraced it, yet many of our "public servants" are obsessed with foisting it on the "city on a hill."

It's important to Nancy Pelosi that Trump is impeached for these reasons.

I also believe she hates Trump personally, even though she repeatedly says she "prays for him and his family every day."

She said yesterday, for the second time this week, that it's important to her that Trump is impeached because "Trump's impeachment will last forever. He's forever stained, regardless of what the Senate does."

Hate? You decide.

She is also deeply concerned about the election this November.

So is Barack Obama. More on that in a moment.

Nancy tries to connect with history.

While so-called "progressives" work tirelessly to revise history, this time Pelosi decided to embrace it. Sort of.

She said yesterday:
"As you know I referenced temporal markers that our founders and our poets and others have used over time to place us in time, to emphasize the importance of time, because everything is about time."

She continued to underscore the importance of time:
"As I've said, its always been our Founders, when they started, 'When in the course of human events it becomes necessary"---when. Abraham Lincoln--'Four score and seven years ago.' Thomas Paine---'These are the times that try men's souls'. Again and again, even our poets, Longfellow---'Listen my children and you will hear/ Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere/ On the 18th of April 1775/ hardly a man is now alive/ that remembers that famous day and year'."

She then said,
"On December 18th the House of Representatives impeached the President of the United States. An impeachment that will last forever."

Pelosi said,
"Time has been our friend. It has yielded even more incriminating evidence, more truth into the public domain."

Those whom she has chosen to mark this time in history forever are Schiff (CA) Nadler (NY) Hakeem Jefferies (NY) Zoe Lofgren (CA) Val Demings (FL), Sylvia Garcia (TX) and Jason Crow (CO).

These people, according to Nancy Pelosi, will seek the "truth for the American people."

Nancy is a hypocrite.

Yesterday, while declaring herself to be "sad," she used more than a dozen commemorative pens to sign the two articles of impeachment against President Trump.

Pelosi said this "occasion is so sad, so tragic for our country"---"it's a tragic time in our country's history."

She then approached a table that had been prepared with the documents, and two dishes full of pens

That hardly looks like "sadness." It looks like a celebration. California Rep. Maxine Waters, who has been calling for Trump's impeachment since before his Inauguration, was standing beside Pelosi in "sadness" while a dish of signing pens were passed out to the faithful.

Hypocrisy.

Some additional truth.

First, there could be reasons yet unrevealed why Obama, who chose Joe Biden for his Vice President for all 8 years of his presidency, has not endorsed him---so far---in the primary. Maybe Obama is simply waiting until someone emerges to make any endorsement.

Or maybe he has a backup plan that would include a "fresh face" to "save the Party" and defeat Trump. Many say Michelle Obama is a fresh face. Barack Obama has been telling the Democrat candidates that they are going too far Left to win a national election. He recently said, "America is not yet ready for a socialist president."

And about Nancy Pelosi and our Founding Fathers.

It was Thomas Jefferson who said: "The elective franchise, if guarded as the ark of our safety, will peaceably dissipate all combinations to subvert a Constitution, dictated by wisdom, and resting on the will of the people."

In 2016 "the will of the people" chose a different path than Pelosi, Schummer, Obama, and the inevitable Hillary had preordained.

Clearly, Pelosi and the far Left are deeply concerned that they will not win the 2020 election. They have decided the only way to seize power is through impeachment---not by the election process.

Why are the progressives unwilling to take the advice of Jefferson and allow the "will of the people" to decide the path forward?

Jefferson also said, "Self-love...is the sole antagonist of virtue..." It would be wise for Pelosi and the Left to at least give that historic comment a moment of consideration.

James Madison, architect of the US Constitution and co-author of the Federalist papers, said, "There are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by the gradual and silent encroachment of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpation."

The Senate will soon decide whether this President is encroaching on the freedom of the people and should be removed from office---or if the far Left progressives in power in the House will continue to trample on the rights and freedoms and the faith of the people of this nation.

President James Garfield wisely said,
"Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress..."

Patrick Henry said,
"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government---lest it come to dominate our lives and interests."

And that's exactly what Pelosi and her cohorts are attempting to do---restrain the will of the 63 million people who voted for someone other than the approved progressive Democrat on the presidential ballot, by misusing the Constitution.
