Praise for President Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court is being heard across the nation.

Judge Neil Gorsuch is an intellectual giant, a skilled writer, superb communicator, conservative, and regarding the Constitution--an originalist--just like the late Justice Scalia, whom he will replace.

Gorsuch is today what he was in 2006 when the Senate unanimously confirmed him to his seat in the 10th US Circuit Court of Appeals.

What has changed in the past 10 years?

You'll find the list of Democratic senators who voted for him very interesting.

Here's the list of Democratic senators who voted for Judge Gorsuch in 2006---and yes, Obama and Biden were both in the senate in 2006, and both voted for him. So were several from the Northwest, one of whom is now promising to destroy his nomination--while 2 others are "contemplating."

  • Former President Barack Obama
  • Former Vice President Joe Biden
  • Former Sen. Harry Reid
  • Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
  • Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin
  • Sen. Dianne Feinstein, ranking member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary
  • Sen. Maria Cantwell
  • Sen. Tom Carper
  • Sen. Patrick Leahy
  • Sen. Robert Menendez
  • Sen. Patty Murray
  • Sen. Bill Nelson
  • Sen. Jack Reed
  • Sen. Debbie Stabenow
  • Sen. Ron Wyden

Washington State Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have expressed "concern" about moving forward with the nominee.

Murray says she has "serious concerns about moving forward with a Supreme Court nomination at this time" because of actions President Donald Trump has taken that she contends show a "true disdain" for the law.

Cantwell hasn't gone that far--- yet, but is expressing that she has "concerns" about Gorsuch's record, but that she will review it thoroughly.

Both Murray and Cantwell released a statement to the press. The link above contains their statements.

Murray is attacking Trump, saying he doesn't just think he is above the law but at times has shown true disdain for it. She says, "I will evaluate this nominee using the standards I have long used when it comes to Supreme Court nominees..." saying she will evaluate the nominee in regard to "women's access to healthcare"---which is code for protecting the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood---and "upholding Roe v Wade" which means continuing the slaughter of innocent unborn babies and calling it "choice."

Cantwell says in her statement, "The American people deserve a Supreme Court justice who will ensure full protection...there is too much at stake---from women's choice and immigration reform to LGBTQ rights and marriage equality...I have concerns about Judge Gorsuch'ss record on a number of issues...We need a Justice who will move our country forward, not backwards..."

Maybe a little restrained for now, but none-the-less resolute in their far Left so-called "progressivism."

However, Oregon's Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley have already grabbed the mic and are shouting to the public to resist the nomination.

Oregon's Jeff Merkley was not in the Senate in 2006 but says "this is a stolen seat. This is the first time a Senate majority has stolen a seat. We will use every lever in our power to stop this."

He and a few others in the Senate consider one of the levers to be a filibuster.

He added yesterday, "A very large number of my colleagues will be opposed."

In what many are calling a "stunning about-face," Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon has announced he will oppose the nomination.

He says Gorsuch---the man he voted "for" in 2006, now, "harkens back to the days when politicians restricted a people's right on a whim."

Apparently, these days to which Gorsuch "harkens back to" happened sometime between 2006 and 2017.

Much has happened in our culture in the past 10 years. And they've called it "progress."

Maria Cantwell speaks for most far Left progressives---religious and secular when she says: "We need a Justice who will move our country forward...not backward."

However, "forward" means different things to different people.

If you haven't read David Kupelian's book, "The Snapping of the American Mind," take a couple of hours and read it.

In it he asks, "How could it be that hundreds of thousands of Americans fought and bled--and many died---on foreign shores to contain an evil and metastasizing ideology variously called communism, Marxism, socialism, collectivism, or statism, and yet now, just a few years later, we could gaze up at the pinnacle of power in our own country and behold leaders in thrall to essentially the same core ideology we fought and died to protect strangers from?"

This, of course, refers to the Obama era---the past 8 years. The umbrella of the ideologies above is called "Progressivism."

Progressivism calls for "progress" and "progress" is always perceived as "good." But progress is defined by, you guessed it, the evolving progressives.

It isn't "good" to progressively kill more and more unborn children. Nor is it "good" to redefine marriage and family---the cornerstone of human sustainability.

It isn't "good" to decide that human sexuality and human gender identity is fluid.

Herbert Marcuse, known as the Father of the new Left, has said, "American society is oppressive, evil, and undeserving of loyalty," referring to the traditional values our Founding Fathers held and those many of us conservative Christians presently hold.

With this notion in mind, the kids protesting and running the streets of our cities and through our airports---the adults in seats of power, political and otherwise, who consider themselves "progressive" are, in their minds, liberating all men and women from the "evil repression" and "tyrannical values" that Western civilization has put upon us.

As Maria Cantwell says, "We need a Justice who will move our country forward, not backwards."

This is how Rome died.

CS Lewis once said: "We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive."

And God said, "If my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land" (II Chronicles 7:14).

Many in America are calling, humbling, praying, seeking and yes, turning. Forgiveness and healing are coming.

Be Encouraged.
